  • Looks ok, but not that smart. All it mentions is Twitter and Skype and a few other things on their page (see the flagship model for the full Sony Smarts)

I've never seen the attraction of a smart TV. You buy an expensive panel that will last for 10+ years, but >$20 of smart TV functionality makes it obsolete in 12 months.

      • Yes, the only advantage is one remote, but you're better off buying a 'dumb' panel and using a smart easily upgradeable box. I've tried a few and currently the Roku 3 with Netflix and Hulu Plus is good.

Also got a Samsung Bluray player which has good smarts and is cheap.

    • You can access the US and UK apps on this TV if you have Getflix or Unblockus.

This are my few favourite apps on this Sony TV.

      Netflix
      Hulu Plus
      Amazon Instant Video
      Plex
      iView
      Pandora
      Skynews
      BBC player
      BBC sport
      XM Sirius

And a few more others as shown in this screenshot of my Sony SENS page.

      • Thanks. That will be very useful.

      • So It does have some smarts. Funny they don't mention it on the Sony site.

This is the next model up, and has a built in sound system

I bought the same model in VP just b4 Christmas for A$3460 at the time when they had the 10% online sales. It came with the 5 free-until-end-of-2015 4k movies external hard drive and a $500 travel voucher sweetener.
The one thing I regretted is not buying the Sony wireless subwoofer. I also missed BL sale on that model for $99.

I was lucky and managed to get the $99 subwoofer. It really does sound amazing with the subwoofer.

One time, I didn't realised that I was actually using this TV sound system when watching an action movie. I thought the sound was coming out from my Paradigm and SVS subwoofer.

  • Just remember new models are around the corner, any remaining stock will be sold off pretty cheap.

    • how soon is around the corner? A serious question cause I am looking to buy :)

This 65X9004B model will be replaced by 65X930C but with the weak exchange rate, I don't know if the new model price will come down to $3800 by this October-December.

  • This is a very good TV, will upgrade end of the year if price fall below $2500.

  • Arent the 2015 Bravia's just right around the corner?

I think that the android TV integration will be quite interesting.

    • Yeah all new TV'S Are coming but you can imagine how much they will be
