909 20V 6 Piece Set with 2 Batteries $129.95 Delivered from Masters Boxhill, Knoxfield & Northland VIC

100

Saw this deal on Masters website. Not sure if it is a special or normal pricing, but this was listed under the tools clearance banner when you click on the banner.

I would have bought this if I saw this earlier, but I have already bought the Ozito 4 piece for $199 from Bunnings about a month ago. I am certain people will have comments about the quality or lack of it, but I think for the home renovator, it should work ok.

Edit: changed title to reflect new information given in the comments section. Thanks HunterOfBargains20 and sparkyglo. All you need to do is set your "nearest" store to Masters Boxhill, Knoxfield or Northland VIC and get it delivered for $129.95.

      • No worries mate, all good!

  • $120 in Melbourne. Masters pricing often varies depending on location.

    • Where in Melbourne? What shop?

      • Seems only some Melbourne stores have it for that price. Box hill, Knoxfield, Northland

    • Pricing is generally National but can vary by state. At the moment 3 VIC stores(Boxhill, Knoxfield and Northland) have some lower prices particularly on clearance because they are going through a refurbishment.

      • +1

They're refurbishing already? They've only been around two or three years.

        • They are updating the layout to be the same as new stores

      • Do you know of any other items on clearance at these stores? Especially at Box Hill for myself.

        • +1

There are other Power Tools and Cooling that I know of atm, nothing specific sorry

  • According to the photo this is Lithium Ion

and here is the product photo in case the zoom is annoying anyone else

q: What's the device on the top right?

    • q: What's the device on the top right?

That's the reciprocating saw, kinda like a free-hand jigsaw.

  • can I use other saws replacement blades?

  • I got 909. 12v drill and Osc. tool set for $25 and reckon they are great for the price. I use it for all light - med jobs around the house. Even goes ok on masonary, but Usually use hammer drill for that sort of thing of course

    • I also bought the $25 12V drill and Osc toll set. But the battery is now kaput, wont charge. There was only 1 battery in the pack to more landfill.

POX on 909 and Masters for these environmental crimes.

      • Really? Did you flog it hard or just occasional use? I always charge mine after use and after a few weeks it still has good charge.

        • Only used it a couple of times. I guess the batteries self-discharged too far (once cells get below 2.7V they're generally dead forever)

        • @effgee:

Yeah, key is to always keep a decent charge in the cells.

Its actually not too hard to replace cells yourself with basic soldering skills - heaps of tuorial online.

      • Hi Effgee, don't forget 909 means 909 days warranty, I'd try returning it to your local store with your receipt or contacting 909 if it's still within the warranty period.
        Contact details for 909:
        Phone: 1800 909 909

        • even if it was clearance stock ?
And even if it is battery failure ? Even many of the 'name' brands don't cover batteries under warranty

        • @effgee: it doesn't matter if its clearance stock, i'm unsure about the battery but i'd say it doesn't hurt to try

        • @HunterOfBargains20:

thanks, I'll give it a try then. Will need to dig out the receipt though, and front up to a store I assume.

        • @effgee: you can do either, I'd give them a call on 1300909909 first

          @HunterOfBargains20:

thanks. Employee of the month award for you !

  • $150 in WA

    • I know, but if you set your "nearest" store to the 3 stores, you can get it delivered for $129.95.

      • +1

price goes back to 150 when you try to pay and fill in delivery address

        • Yeah the price hack doesn't actually work.
It's pretty much $120 for Melbourne and $150 everywhere else.

  • Keep the Oscillating tool, Rotary tool, Torch & GIVE ME AN ANGLE GRINDER!!!!! Just realized something, can oscillating tool be used as angle grinder? Never used one.

    • No, the circular saw maybe at a pinch

  • The batteries in these are almost certainly 5 lithium cells, in which case these are the same as other tools advertised as 18V

    • Yeah, dodgy marketing going on here. They'll be rated at 20V surge or some such liguistics that indicate they might pull 20V at some stage for a split second.
But still great price for such a comprehensive set.

      • Probably 20V right after charging with no load. It would probably be ~18V nominal.

Unless the batteries have negative internal resistance the voltage would decrease as current increases.

Nitpick but you pull current not volts.

        • max cell voltage for LiPo is about 4.25V, so they could measure as high as 21V fully charged. But most reasonable mfrs quote the nominal 3.7 "mid charge" voltage to get 18V

edit: comes with a charger yay

Can't believe that this only has 10 votes!

    • you could if you ever owned a 909 tool
