  • Thank you for notifying. Copied and pasted all specifications from Officeworks website and assumed that they were correct. Will rectify.

  • What was the greatest price ever?

    • +2

      I think it was $49.

I bought this hard drive previously at $74.25 from a Officeworks deal posted here.

      • Thank you:)

I paid that over a year ago for a 2TB Toshiba external hard drive.

Yeah, but this is a portable hard drive

  • This was $49 at the Officeworks Milton store just a week and a half ago.

Anyone know if this is a good fit for upgrading the ps4 hard drive ? or should I stick to another type. ( I know the slim portable ones are ok.)

    Cheers..

    • Pretty sure this drive is 14.8mm high, and won't fit.

  • All I really care about, is it 2.5 inch drive or a 3.5 inch drive.

    • +2

      2.5 in

  • very tempting ..

  • Does anyone know if these version can this be taken apart and put into ps4, or is it hardwired?

The 4 I got so far were all Samsung standard height SATA drives and are living a new lease of life in my PVR, DVR, Laptop and XBMC unit. The casing has tooling for a USB direct drive option as well though so not guaranteed.

  • Prospect(SA) have about 8. I've read some bad reports of Seagate lately though.

    • The only Seagate / Maxtor (owned by Seagate) drives I have ever owned have failed.
WD and Samsung on the other hand, never a single problem.
      I won't touch Seagate anymore :-(.

I agree, I used to swear by seagate, but I have had far to many fail in the last couple years.

I have had good and bad experiences with all 3 major manufacturers Samsung, Western Digital and Seagate Hard Drives over the years.

Having just binned THREE failing Seagate 1.5TB drives, I wouldn't touch these with a ten foot pole.

I've had mixed experiences with Samsung drives.

But I haven't had an issue with WD. I only use WD these days for non-SSD drives.

  • I bought one in the last $74.25 deal and was susprised to find a regualar 2.5 inch Samseagate ST1500LM006 drive inside with a usb-sata controller. Be warned though the casing has tooling to also accept a direct USB drive so you could get one or the other. I'll head in today and grab 4 more, will compare the product code I have 1D6APA-500 and fingers crossed they are the same. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP. I just updated my PS3 internal hdd to 1.5tb. Yay! Time to download some of the ps+ games.
