  • They also have the Alienware 13 that comes down to $1325 (with 2% cashrewards).

    • Gee thats not a bad price for what you get. I've usually thought of alienware as overpriced crap but this has me very tempted. Any other half decent light gaming laptops around? Are the alienware laptops well built?

      • Yep that's what I thought and got it :P Comparing to the recommendations of the Clevo w230ss for the price, this is infact about $200-300 cheaper (the Clevo's don't come with an OS installed). From what i've read the battery life is decent (5.5 hours average of normal use (no gaming - which is fine by me).

The thing to take note, comparing to the Alienware/dell website is this is using a 4th Gen CPU (i5-4210U), compared to the i5-5200U. However from research there isn't a whole lot of difference, and well worth the savings of $500 or so. Also the cheapest option on the Alienware is 1599, though is using a pretty crappy TN screen with a HDD instead of an SSD.

Edit: also from what i've read and watched, most people that own it seem to think pretty highly of the Alienware 13.

I've posted it as a deal and credited you so hopefully i get some more opinions on it :)

        • @Riczter: Haha i'm sure you'll get a range of opinions no doubt.

      • This caught my eye recently, I've been looking for a budget gaming laptop myself.

        • yeah I guess it depends on what size you want - 13" there's not a massive range.

Also got that XPS 13 with the tiny bezel on the screen, pretty nice little laptop but without the discrete graphics/4k resolution. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321646584579

I was going to post this deal on the XPS 13 as well. Hmmm, since this deal is marked as expired, maybe I will. Some folks might be interested.

  • This is a really nice one, but it's a real pity they don't have their 9-cell/SSD model on eBay :(

I was actually looking at it two weeks ago, at its original price of $2k, and it was attractive then. But I ended up ordering a LBL/Horize before the eBay 20% off happened…

  • No ethernet port?

    • Unfortunately no. You'd have to get a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter.

I think I'll pay the extra 200 bucks for the new Macbook…thanks.

750m… big price, big bottleneck. I would've expected at least an 860m for the price. Beautiful laptop, though.

  • 750m isn't that good for this price

  • 4th gen i7 kills the deal..

  • +1

750m with 4K screen? i will pass it

  • Curious about its panel…is it an IPS or TN or what? Can't find any information anywhere.

Wohoooo Thanks alot OP, been waiting for laptop sales for weeks, Jb had 15% off but I didn't like any of the laptops they had, They all kinds looked outdated, Store I went to had no laptop with SSD that's right none, apart from surface pro and yoga but that's not what I wanted, It has everything I want and within my budget, Thank you :)

Be aware that Windows is installed on the 1TB HDD, with the 32GB mSATA SSD used for caching to help speed up startup, program loading times, sleep/wakeup times, etc.

      • That's still not a deal breaker for me can always replace hdd with ssd if needed, key points are dell warranty plus 4K display, 16gb ram and ofcource mighty i7 :D

        • Agreed. Spent ages looking at the JB/ Dicksmith 15% off specials too.

This one had the looks, specs and only 2kgs.

Planning to swap the 1TB with my spare 256gb SSD.

Hopefully less weight, heat and even faster. Prefer speed over storage space.

  • The thing with a resolution this high. Yes it looks nice. HOWEVER, be warned of windows scaling problems, higher battery drainage leading to lower battery life, and the fact that you must downscale any games to play on this sort of graphics card.

  • I thought this one had the coil whine problem like the XPS 13 (Haswell ver. not Broadwell one)

  • Apart from the 16gb ram, and 2gb gfx card, why not get this instead?

I'd take the 5th gen i7 any day.

      I guess I got lucky than :D

Managed to get one at the discounted price, going overseas in a few weeks.

Going to get TRS refund as well! Woohoo!

    • Might need TRS if you have to pay GST when it comes into the country……… it's shipped from Malaysia.

      • +1

The price quoted by Dell includes GST. The linked store is the official Dell Australia eBay store.

        • +1

Yes you're right (having bought one of these as well): nowhere on Dell's Ebay page does it say "incl GST". But OTOH the XPS-13's page (a laptop shipped from Australia) makes no mention of GST either. I've just received shipping confirmation (that was quick!) and ther confirmation does state $181.73 GST.

          Whew!

        • @Coriander: Thanks for reminding me to check!

GST is there for mine too, Phew indeed!

  • Oredered Sunday, delivered this morning. Excellent!

    • Lucky you!

I ordered on Sunday too, estimated delivery Saturday, Apr 10, 2015 - Friday, Apr 16, 2015…

  • Anyone else received their XPS 15 yet?

Are you having any problems with the machines?

    They apparently lost my order….WTF

  • Yes, my son's XPS-15 (must've been one of the sixteen sold at $1599) arrived today from Malaysia. He is studying at Uni interstate, but I talked to him tonight and he was very happy with his new toy (previous laptop was a 4yo Alienware which screamed for 2 minutes during POST and the keyboard only worked for 20 minutes per hour).
