IGN gave Game of Thrones Episode One a very favorable review when it debuted just a few months ago, specifically praising its great writing, fantastic ending, and intriguing original characters. The game tells the story of House Forrester, a noble family loyal to the Starks of Winterfell. Your actions and choices can have deadly consequences as you attempt to steer your heroes through the events of the War of Five Kings.

And a code I accidentally revealed before I decided to download to my iPad instead of iPhone:

  • This won't be a problem for the majority of the OzBargainers: the game assumes you have solid knowledge of the TV series.

Not necessarily; I've played it without watching one episode of the TV show and didn't have any problems… In my opinion it stands well on its own independent of the show or books. I'm sure they would give you a better insight but I hardly see them as necessary in order to play this.,.

    • I think it is more spoilers for people that havent caught up than not watching the show as it refers to events happened at end of S3

Thanks OP! These IGN games are always good.

iPHONE 4 USERS - WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PURCHASE AND RUN ON YOUR DEVICE OR YOU WILL HAVE A SUB-OPTIMAL EXPERIENCE

    Requires iOS 7.0 or later

Coupon must be redeemed by 3rd May

Doesn't seem like this has been a problem for anyone yet, but I noticed that the fine print on the IGN site reads:

Valid only on Canadian iTunes Store. Requires iTunes account. Terms and Apple Privacy Policy apply, see www.apple.com/legal/itunes/au/terms.html. Must be 13+ and in Canada.

So better redeem quickly just in case.

Free is free but giving you the first ep of something is more along the lines of advertising than being truly free. If I gave you 1/5th of a movie for free or let you listen to 1/5th of every song on an album the intention is to have you purchase and download the rest.

    • It is more like getting the first episode of a TV series for free.

      • That ends with a cliffhanger :)

    • You get to play an episode, of which there are multiple story lines.

Some of these story lines may finish, and some may continue but saying its like giving you 1/5th of a song is nonsense.

IT means you can try a good portion of the game before buying, and with most telltale games I would recommend them as they are quite different and fun.

How can you try "a good portion" when the game is going to have 6 parts? The first episode is basically an introduction, that is why most of Telltales' games are offered for free by the time the 3rd or 4th episode is released. It's intended to be a hook. You play through the first episode making your decisions and then you want to see how they play out in following episodes. You can't play through the entire game in one episode. You are right about the 1/5th part being nonsense, it would be like playing 1/6th considering it is going to have 6 episodes.

I've played both of The Walking Dead games and The Wolf Among Us & this is how they worked. Tales from the Borderlands looks like it works the same way. It will no doubt be offered for free when the 3rd or 4th episode is released.

  • Thanks for this. Picked it up and the next lengthy bus journey will have a run at it. If it's anything lilt The Walking Dead well worth it
