Tried calling them myself but as my renewal was older than 45 days old, I'm not eligible, but thought I'd post this up as there's some serious coin to be saved for those of you who are.

Real Insurance will give you a quote which is very close to being the same, as they are underwritten by the same company. I saved $1.29 by using Real instead of Woolies even using the Wool20 code.

I'd like to share my experience with this deal. I had a renewal quote from Coles for $370 for a comprehensive cover for my 2005 Nissan pulsar. Last years price was $320ish. I was very happy with the price but I still rang woolworths to ask about price beating.

I was told that according to their system the comparable policy was about $800ish. Although they can match the price for this time, when the renewal comes in next year it is not going to increase by a percentage like the Coles. Instead I will be charged full $8/900 dollars.

With just a bit forward thinking I decided to stick with Coles, as I predicted the price will still be relatively low.

    • I suppose the trick would be to transfer back to Coles just before your renewal cones up, providing of course, Coles Price Beat Guarantee is still on offer. Fairly sure it's been going for a few years now though.

I got a fresh quote from Coles as well it's much more than my renewal, so best to stick with the renewal price.

  • Has anyone been able to take them up on this offer? Been on hold for 10 minutes!

    • Yeah I had to wait around that when I phoned before I put the deal up. Might be a few more in the queue now.

      • I'll try again during office hours, might be quicker than on the weekend…

Just got straight thru without waiting. They couldn't give me the $100 discount as they couldn't match my current AAMI insurance.

  • So can you price beat a price beat? Coles vs Wollies

  • Where does the promo code go on the form?

    • It's on the 1st page I believe, when you start your quote.

      • I don't see it - must be removed?

Just had another look, the box appears to enter it after you've inputted your EDR card number.

        • got it, thanks.

Has anyone else tried Progressive? Seriously good value for my two cars. Online only, but they are like the 4th biggest insurer in the US

    • I use them for our two vehicles.. Cheaper option especially for multi car policies.

Have claimed once without issue also

  • So who has anyone actually made a claim with them? What are they like to deal with?

    • I've made a not at fault claim with them, and they were unbelievably good, puts the big insurers to shame. Suggested a much better repairer than ones I'd used previously through NRMA and aami, and the whole process was quick and painless, including no hold time in their call centre!

Just signed up - their quote was over $1000, final price beat premium was $368 ($100 less than my Coles renewal).
