Seiki SE65KS001AU 65" 4K UHD LED TV - $1099 / $1148 Delivered @ Dick Smith

180

This deal is back for one day (15/04/2015) only! Pretty decent price for a 3840 x 2160 100Hz 4K LED TV

Bought one myself last month when a similar deal was on and highly recommended at this price! Don't need a smart TV as I've already got an Apple TV + Maige TV Box for all my media needs. Amazing TV for this price!

Below description thanks to Joysky from previous post when the deal was on in December 2014.

I personally think 4K is wasted on anything smaller then a 60", and 65" is starting to unleash the clarity you want when paying for these extra pixels.

There are no reviews on this exact model, but if build and image quality is of any concern, it appears to be similar to the SE65UY04 found on Amazon, but 100Hz vs 120Hz.

There is also little to suggest Seiki has another lineup besides this one, consisting of 39", 50", 55" and 65", making it more likely that the refresh rate is the only difference.

Refresh Rate: 4K@30Hz 1080P@120Hz
Component & HDMI Support: 480i, 576i, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 4K2K 30Hz (Only HDMI)

Trent86! any comment on 4k Seiki?
Soo tempted, cheapest 4k 65" so far.

    • It was a bit cheaper during the last Ebay 20% off deal. Still a good price though.

  • WOW 65" for about 1k! i'm old enough to remember the first gen plasmas (50") went for like 15-20k at binglee lol

    • They weren't even 50inch. The first ones for 20k were only 42 inch.

      • yea insane amount of dough just for a tele….who needs a car when I can watch a 42" tele! I will just walk to work lol

        • They looked so good compared to normal tube TV's though.

          @PVA: still u could've bought a car with that sort of $$

4K@30Hz eww… wait, where did you find that detail as it doesn't seem to match this model…? The 100Hz thing suggests it's 50hz(60hz) with "smoothing" like Sony etc do…

Ahhh.. HDMI input of 4K@30Hz… that's a HDMI 1.4 design spec limit though. Supposedly it's a native 100hz (120hz) panel?

I've got this exact model sitting in my living room right now, and 30Hz is what I can get when using it in 4K res, it's not an issue for TV/Movies etc.

      • Hi Zen,
Does it have optical audio out (toslink)?
        Thanks

I have the65" FHD model. Quite good picture quality but struggles when watch action movies (motion blur or whatever you call it).

  • Does anyone know if this has optical audio out (toslink)?

    • Not that I know of, also not listed in the specs. Safe to say there isn't Optical Out.

can't guarentee authenticity but from the youtube review at appliances online (which is pretty much completely un-informative btw)

      "Mark Lewis 1 month ago
I just bought one of these and replaced a Kogan 55" Uhd as it broke in 4 months. This is a great TV, high quality images and upscale is great from Foxtel SD much better than the Kogan. Plays mkv, avi, mp4 from a usb external hard drive. The only negative are the very poor quality audio but it has a optical audio output so I plugged it to our home theatre system and now it's perfect. Check around on prices as you'll will probably find one for under $1400 + delivery. "

so according to this user yes it has Optical Audio out

also on DS web page 2nd review specifically says customer has set up optical audio

      From the dse review
AUDIO it is terrible, honestly it is like listening to a Smart Phone, (this is why I installed the optical cable). I now have the audio running through the optical cord to our 5.1 Panasonic Blu Ray home theatre

  • For use underwater or maybe just weatherproof as Illustrated;)

  • Hey guys, does anyone know if this is wall mountable?

    • According to one of the reviews on Dick Smith site, it is VESA mount compatible.

      • thanks mate, was editing my post to say I saw that too from a user review.

Unfortunately, the dick smith "specs" are the same as usual…..

  • What 4K content is out there?

    • tech demos and games if you have a PC about twice the price of this TV…

    • Some Netflix content.

    • Video from your camera and phones and go pros etc.

  • Hey OP, do any of the HDMI ports support ARC? The spec page doesn't mention it.

  • USB Input: One (For service use only)
    What does it mean?

    • would guess it means the port is only supposed to be used for firmware update/factory reset, however other comments would seem to indicate it can be used for external storage devices etc.
      maybe OP can confirm ?

also review on DS site says the user has used external HDD on the USB port

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/seiki-65-uhd-lcd-led-tv-dsau…

      • It might be a bit late.. I ordered one and it arrived yesterday.
It has optical out (which is good for me) and the "service" USB port can read movies/music/pictures/text(?) from a USB HDD or flash disk. The USB HDD can also be used for recording and timeshifting (pause live TV).

        • The one thing that might be an issue is the current draw from an external USB HDD which does not have its own power supply. (i.e. a USB-powered HDD might draw more power than the port is designed to supply and could burn it out eventually).

  • waiting for next round of offer. Any gamer tried their PS4 / Xbone on this 65" UHD TV yet? how is the picture quality?
    Thanks
