Unlocked Nokia Lumia 630 $95 from Harvey Norman

530

Shopping for a phone for the wife after she broke the third phone in 5 months and found this.

It has been to this price point once before at the beginning of the year. It's a good price for an unlocked, AU stock.

Also, it seems all of the Nokia phones are on special, but there are nothing that stood out and most have seem lower price point before.

Lumia 520 for $124
Lumia 735 for $258
Black Lumia 830 for $398

Or a phone case. I've never broken a phone with one yet dropped phones occasionally.

If you spend a bit more you can get a new WIFE man, keep replacing wife not phone. lol

  • Third phone in 5 months - man that is tough. Worst luck ever?

Phone looks like a good deal OP. Amazing what you can get for less than a hundred bucks nowadays.

  • Does the Lumia use the google play store for its app purchases? Thanks.

    • +5

No, they run Windows Phone 8.1, and doesn't have a big store like Google Play Store.

    • +5

it has Windows Store apps instead and quite limited with app availability but can meet your daily needs though. Apple iOS has AppStore apps, Android has Play Store apps

  • +2

Pretty sure Ali Express sells Nokia 3210.

She did a S4 right before Christmas, cracked screen and all. Replaced with a Lumia 925 that was on special also from HN and that was dropped last week and cracked the screen also.

She's getting one of these now. Maybe get one more for spare.

Get a short wife, phone has less distance to fall…

        • +2

My wife isn't tall, any shorter and I won't be able to see her at all.

  • should have got her a huawei g526 i have lost count of how many times i dropped mine onto tiles and the road and my 1 year old daughter throws it at the wall never broke yet.

    • my 1 year old daughter throws it at the wall never broke yet

What if she aims it at the TV? The phone will be safe, but TV…

      • Well she lives in the Philippines so its an old school tv lol.

        • Well she lives in the Philippines so its an old school tv lol.

Don't they have LCD TV's over there?

        • +1

          @ms:
They do but only have 2 channels where she lives and anything decent would get stolen.

        • Old school TV has glass that can be broken.

I read this as l830 for $95. Was disappointed.

  • it would be a great price if the phone has 4G

  • +1

It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 so should take a few hits.

Also I have the 530 and it struggles running Spotify with only 512MB RAM, the same as this 630. That's the only app I've had trouble with, everything else on windows phone works great for such low-spec devices.

Gorilla Glass will still break, the last 2 phones she broke also had Gorilla glass…

My sister in law also has a smashed Note 2 and Samsung s4. It doesn't take much to crack them, and she's not very tall…

  • Is this a good price for Huawei P7 @ $392

You can try Huawei Y550 at HN. It is still available at few places. Deal -(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/188848)

    • +1….. Best phone around for $49 from a voda store…. (or $45 if you have find a HN with stock, or $40 with HN discount).

    • You can buy two for the price from HN + unlocking. Or buy one and get a pretty decent case with the money left over. Or some other gift to keep the wife happy.

  • Thanks OP..grabbed one just now. Good deal

  • +1

    It's probably worth paying an extra $50 for a Lumia 636 with 4G and 1GB of RAM…

  • You should get a case and a screen protector as well.

Maybe a case with a little loop in it that you attache a strap to, so even if it slips it'll only fall to the end of the leash.

  • Otherwise can look into this

May cost a bit but it will definitely be the last phone your wife will ever replace!

  • +2

No flash on the camera, why do they even bother.

    • yeah i have to question what the hell they are doing

$50 huawei crappers can get the feature set right and yet microsoft cant?

  • No front camera so wont suit the selfie stick generation.

  • +1

Damn, bought mine on 28/3 at $133!

  • +1

Maybe you should shop for a new wife instead of a new phone. :P

  • This may help, not pretty but effective. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/For-Nokia-Lumia-630-635-Heavy-Dut…

As for the 630 it is a great phone for the price, none of the lag lower end android devices have and a surprisingly good camera if you use the lumia camera app.

  • Anyone know if the 735 comes unlocked?

    • +1

It's UNLOCKED as stated in "Specifications" tab ("Categories" -> "Outright Phones").

  • -2

Buy her an iPhone. You can get repaired for less than 95$. Just saying…

  • Why is this still not a better deal?

    http://www.amazon.com/AT-Nokia-Lumia-635-Contract/dp/B00LBFF…

$81 shipped to Australia, free unlock, and the model up that DOES have 4G.

It's a really great phone. I picked one up last deal for $31, but at $81, it's still a better deal than this one.

Assuming, of course, that you don't have some fascination with Aussie stock.

    • That does not have the Aussie 4G Band of either 1800Mhz or 700Mhz unfortunately, so no 4G love for you.

      • That's not true.

Like I said, I've got one and I am using 4G right now with TeleChoice (Teltra's 4G network).

        • +1

Telstra are wholesaling their 4G network??
          Thats news to me.

Are you 100% sure its connected via LTE?
Ive seen AT&T phones show 4G for HSDPA+.

          Edit:
Im pretty sure im right. Sorry for the bad news :(
          http://www.computerworld.com.au/article/570543/telstra-whole…

        • +1

@stubo Lol see how you get stumped by Fortune Marketing.
4G in USA (for AT&T) is 3G+ here in Australia also know an DC-HSPA+ upto 42 Mbps downloads

Thats why you are seeing that faux 4G icon. You have a 3G+ device
Why I know, because I got 2 from Amazon when they were 29.99 each :D

        • @regenade:

Ahhh, okay, thanks for clearing that up.

I don't really mind at all. I got above 15Mb/s when testing it, so seriously, I'm not worried if it's not full 4G. It's faster than our home WiFi… lol.

If you keep buying her Windows Phone, I can see why she keeps breaking them…. Just god awful phones and yes I owned and used one for a week. No apps, worst phone ever!

    • -1

Eh, my wife and I both use WP and we like it. The apps aren't as good as iPhone, but it is getting there. With each iteration (from WP7 to WP8 to WP8.1) the apps have gotten better, so I hope WP10 gives another boost in app attention.

      • +1

Its a awful phone OS… Why bother sticking with something for so long….. If you have been there since WP7, then we are talking years. Android is a much better OS if iPhone isn't your thing and just as cheap. Anyhow… each to their own.

        • Yeah Android is awesome, here is some app icons, now lets go into the app menu, more identical icons. Innovative stuff. WP is a much better thought out and efficient OS. I do cry that there isn't 1,000,000 terrible freemium games though, I really do.

        • +1

@sallan75: clearly a iOS user then if you don't understand what the app draw is….. wait 4 years, when Apples copies the idea, you'll be in love with it!!!

    • Well the only 4 WP owners in the world neg'd my comment. Truth hurts boys…..

  • For $10 extra yatango will sell you the same item but already molested by their staff you pay extra $10 for that privilege.

    https://yatango.com.au/shopping/nokia-lumia-630-dual-sim-ope…

  • Thanks OP just bought one…..only need it to text and make calls, have an ASUS tablet for apps! Oh and FYI in their system it came up as $199..so better than half price!

  • +2

Use the $5 newsletter signup credit to get it for $90 =) great deal

    • Oh, man. I forgot this :)

  • I got 1 too - goodbye V3 Razor

  • The Y550 is a better choice. It's faster because of having extra ram, despite being on Android.

  • Have anyone got this phone yet? No news from HN so I contacted them. It seems they run out of stock the black color (only blue left) and offer the refund :(

  • I got mine
