Dell Inspiron 15 $796 @ Officeworks T6500 2.1 GHz, 3GB DDR2, 320GB HDD, WLED Display

150

Found this deal at OW Glen Waverley. It's still available and apparently VIC wide. Very hard to get a Core 2 Duo T6500 for under $1000. Usually at that price you would expect Celeron or Pentium Dual Core.

Also get a free Windows 7 upgrade at win7.dell.com. Dell are the only company offering free P&H which means it really is a "FREE" upgrade and it makes registering easy because you don't have to worry about sending money/cheques and waiting for them to get back to you.

Great for students on a budget.

Also has an LED backlit screen which looks great and gives better battery life.

Personally, I'd prefer the Lenovo G550. But still, a good deal.

    • True but from a well known retailer like OW, The good guys, DSE, JB it is rare. Plus it has a nicer screen

  • glossy or matte ?

Ok but check the Dell site for better offers periodically. Several weeks back they had one for $807 delivered but that also included Win7 Home Premium installed, 4Gb RAM and a 6-cell battery. You could also customise it…

  • this is available nationally from OW atm. You also get a completely free upgrade to win 7 (assumin its a vista model) with any dell bought from retail rite now. Some great deals out there due to retailers tryin to clear out vista models!

I'm typing on a Dell Inspiron 1545 right now, All different spec's then the one above… but generally the same.

What can I say, WLED screen is fantastic, even on the lowest brightness its very bright, on its highest it can light up a room. Battery power is great, pretty decent with general browsing, you'll eat into it more if your playing music or gaming obviously, but a fair few hours worth of use. Quiet, fan will only make noise under high load like gaming or if your blocking the vent for half an hour (lol). The only thing you could pick on, the touch pad area isn't a big compared to other brands, you get use to it and won't even notice.

I think the OW deal is pretty good, except the big drawback of not being able to upgrade to a dedicated graphics card, but people may not want or need that. Depends what you want out of your system, if you want to customise it then go to Dell.com (yes I know that's taboo here) or if your happy with the spec's, go to OW.

    Cheers,

    Daz
