    Nice, tossing up between this and the X5, though I see it's been discontinued… anyone know of a place with a decent price for the X5? if not, I'll grab this!

      I saw a review on the x5 that said it's power output seemed to decline when running on battery, whereas the x3 doesn't. Picked up an x3 about a month ago and haven't looked back!

      • Yep, Ive had no probs with battery life on the X3

        • The main differences between the X3 and X5 are the 2 hour difference in battery life, bigger unit, better bass output and better reviews for the X5. I spent the extra on the X5 as it sounded better than the average X3 and wasn't as restrictive at higher volumes.

          Have noticed that the bluetooth pairing is very hit and miss with my X5. It connects well but then drops out after an hour whilst connected to power.

          @ShamelessBargains:

          Thanks guys, I pulled the trigger and got an X3 :)

    I got a $100 sony.com.au voucher from work, I really don't need this but I can't find anything else worth getting either..

    I have this, works well.

    Good price, good speaker. This was bought for me as a present and at first I was disappointed because I was after the UE Boom or Bose Soundlink Mini.

    However I am really happy with it, would recommend it. Has excellent bass. You can't turn it up too high as at maximum volume it starts to wobble but to about 75% volume it is definitely as good as the Bose or UE Boom

    Damm, picked it up about a month ago for $109. Oh what I could have done with those $10. Anyway I'm really happy with this it's sufficiently loud for my kitchen and there isn't any distortion with bluetooth that I've noticed.

    Was $89 a few says before @ DS. There was a $25 off $99 coupon too. Would have bought it for $75 with a $10 item.

  • Doesn't seem to have AptX?

    • I've always wondered if aptX support mattered for small portable speakers. Has anyone done a comparison?

      • Good point, but I thought that a small portable speaker that retails at $200 just might have it.

      I have the X9 which supports aptX CSR. Sounds better than the Sonos 5 to my ears. You need something like this with separate mid-range drivers and tweeters for stereo separation to be to appreciate aptX. Alternatively, get two units for pairing.

    Interesting - it was $79.45 three weeks ago and that deal only got 2 votes. Sometimes OzBargain is irrational.

    $69 delivered with $30 off coupon. Great deal.

    • Care to elaborate about the coupon?

      • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/173754. But I have my own coupon from a recent camera purchase. The $30 ecoupon is reusable multiple times.

        • Thanks. That code has expired. I sent you a private message.

          @naira: I'd love a coupon if there's a valid one around. Missed the DS $70 deal :(

        • I would also love a coupon code if there is one going

        • @GGF6T: Sorry guys, no coupon was given to me either. We will have to wait for a dicksmith sale. Just keep your eyes open, it seems they are slowly trying to get rid of it also. They just didn't want to give it all away at one time.

        • @naira: I'm going to wait for it to hit the $70 mark again at DS.

  • Got it from the last Dicksmith deal, really loving it!

  • Got it from DSE as a bundle with the X2. Great speakers, can't recommend them enough.

  • Got from dicksmith on Sunday special for $83 with the belkin USB 2.1AM car plug. The sound was really good. I had to put it in my wife's car so wanted to buy another for the house but waiting for another Dicksmith deal. Initially looking for UE Boom but the price hasn't gone down so went for the another good brand Sony.

    Whoever got dick smith discounted gift cards (I think last week there were multiple deals) can get it for a nice discount

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/speakers/sony-portable-speaker-s…

    Or maybe price match TGG with DS.

  • Got it from dicksmith on the weekend with a Logitech x100 for $92. Sounds great. Does distort at higher volumes but its great at that price. Got the x100 so the kids would stay away from the s3 and they are loving that too.

  • paid 129 for both S2 and S3 at DS after xmas… lovin em to bits….. so handy for camping as a music speaker during the day and tablet speaker for movies at night time…. So awesome.. Also, put some rainforest sounds with birds and running streams on your phone, then pair it up with the speaker and watch your new born/stressed mummy drift off into bliss and sleep like never before! close your eyes and you are as good as there in the forest sleeping.
