I never understand this 'Free to play over the weekend' deal, cus really in Australia, it take ages for us to download a big game (15~30GB) and unless you are a luckier few that has NBN otherwise you would spend 1~2 days to download the game, install it, play over the weekend and uninstall the game…. really?

Hours of effort to download, install, sign up an account, learn the game, and then just to uninstall it at the end of the week… seriously…! Its good if it happens to be a nice game and we later pay to play the game, but if it's a crappy game, that would be just BADDDDD! :(

    • You get to keep the game installed on your PC even after the free weekend offer has expired.

But I agree, it is crappy model that falls flat on it's face considering the poor quality of broadband in Australia.

Origin has the right idea — instead of limiting the gameplay to the weekend, you are limited by the ctual gameplay time which only counts down when the game is running on your PC.

      • but the problem with EA model is that people with aim bot use it to test there hacks

      • I thought it ran down from when you first launched the game.

        • It runs down from when you activate your game time.

Agree that it should have X hrs of trial and only counts down when the game is running.

      • NBN aint poor quality

Its a 5GB game… even at like 400kb/s only would take 4hours to download

    • What kinda of net do you have?

I have ADSL2+, set these to download over night, and by Sat morning these are ready to play.

It's pretty obvious Steam wants people to downland and have a taste of the game, hopefully they will like it and decided to pay the full price to keep playing the game. There is no way you can finish the whole game in just one weekend, this is a huge RPG game, not those 10-hour FPS or adventure game. Can easily takes 100+ hours to fully play this game. I would just recommend people to buy this game when it is on sale instead.

I used to be an adventurer like you… until they started charging for mods.

Seriously? $5,99 USD for a single mod that adds more magic variety? and 50c for a lore-breaking weapon? This is way worse than paid DLC.

    • 50c is a small price to pay for a light sabre… If that is indeed the weapon you are referring to. lol

It is basically user-created DLC considering that 75% of the profit goes to Valve and Bethesda.

Absolutely ridiculous and I hope that the backlash is big enough for them to ditch the idea.

      • 75% of the profit goes to Valve and Bethesda

OUCH! Talk about taking all of the incentive out of even using the service…

    • Even at 50c per mod, that's gonna get very expensive if you run tons of mods, and lots of people run 100+ mods…

  • great game though!

Good luck finishing this over a single weekend!

  • either the ultimate value of a deal, or not a deal at all and shouldn't even be published.
