  • wonder if this is store specific. can't find it on their website. this is exactly what i'm looking for without the over $100 price tag

    • +3

Masters price match their own stores.

    • +2

Hi All, this is specofic to the new Rouse Hill store. There is a limit of 2 per customer and no you can't price match with other Masters stores because they don't carry this model.

      • Hi Masters Employee/Rep.. Is it normally acceptable to pricematch other Masters stores? I.e. If another Masters store has a clearance on a particular (normally stocked) item for whatever reason, is it possible to pricematch (assuming the item in question is an item that is normally stocked in other stores)

        • +2

No it's not normally expected, just like this offer you will see clearances and sales in specific stores advertised as being in that specific store only

        • -1

          @HunterOfBargains20:

Not normally expected at your stores maybe, it is expected at pretty much any other large chain in Australia though.

My local masters had them but wern't interested in price matching. Went down to bunnings (were there was 5x as many people walking around) and just purchased one there instead.

        • +1

@immortalbjr: I would think the reason they weren't interested in price matching is because the models were different. This is a 25m model which is not normally stocked in Masters stores. You would have seen the 20m model.

        • -2

          @HunterOfBargains20:

what is the point of stocking 25m model only in one store and different models in all the others ?

So Masters got 25m modem for $59 but sells 20m model for $199 ?

Unless Masters just want to bring attention on Ozbargain to their struggling business.

I spent time travelling to Masters just to find out that they do not have 25m model

        • @Sidor:

Yeah, pretty poor having a product that is not available in any of their other stores.

And for Masters, I guess because no one else sells it $59 is then the normal price, you can't say 20metre ones are more expensive because thats a different price. Whats the original price - well its $59.

        • +1

@PVA & @Sidor I guess the problem with OzBargain is sometimes the people that post do not have all of the information available to them. However [@zealmax] did include in the post that it is only at Masters Rouse Hill so I don't know why anyone would complain that it is not in other stores.

I did find out this offer is part of the Rouse Hill stores series of Opening Specials as they have only been open for 2-3 weeks. Here is a copy of the press ad that ran in the local papers around Rouse Hill. It's pretty clear stock is limited and only available at Rouse Hill. When I found this out I reported it to the moderators to have the title updated to say at Rouse Hill NSW.

I'm sorry that you are both dissapointed but instead of complaining I would suggest in the future you read the information on the post correctly and to save a trip to the store you could call them, the call centre number is listed above.

I hope this doesn't come across as rude but I'm just trying to provide more information to clarify the situation. If you have any questions in the future pm me as I've been able to help a few people out in the past.

          @HunterOfBargains20:
          HunterofBargains helped me :)
I can also add that there was a sale at all stores in December (I missed out because it sold out in 2 hours). I was really pissed off to see ppl brodening it and selling it on gumtree/ebay the next day!
And when they're gone, they're gone!

So Masters got 25m modem for $59 but sells 20m model for $199 ?

The main reason is that you must go to Masters for the 25m since its not available anywhere else. Masters must have organised an exclusive order with Hozelock. I went to Bunnings to try and pricematch the 20m but was unsuccessful since it is not exactly the same product. I'm sure other ppl would have tried as well since it is a really good price. :(

  • Wonder if all Masters.

Also is the same as last time and we're they any good. I missed out last time.

    • +3

In terms of it being good, yep it is very good. I got one from the last time they had them at this price. They are made in the UK as well which makes a change.

      • bought 2 of these last time also, one is fine, but does not get used often.
the second one at the rear of the house is used all the time, not long after purchase it from suffers similar problems and worse as unclebon88's post below, normally Masters do not stock this 25m item. will check out stock tomorrow and exchange as still inside warranty period.
hint get rid of supplied tap and sprayer fittings etc - interior hole sizes restrict water flow to much, 25m small bore hose doesn't help. Another hint turn tap of let the pressure go, then recoil as per instructions.

        edit fixed spelling

I just wished there was a Masters on Sydney's North side. I have 3 Bunnings within 10mins drive, but no Masters within an hour.

    • +2

      Good news!!!

They are opening up one in North Ryde, Epping rd. Cnr of Wicks rd, near the Caltex there.

Happy days!!! I can't wait :) don't know when opening will be. At least a year I am guessing.

      • -2

They really are not the greatest shop…dont get too excited haha

  • +1

I have the 20m and good initially but after a while the retract mechanusm is not good and when it gets near the end, about 1.5 meters left, it stucks therw. So would not recommend

    • +1

The box says 5 years warranty. Good for at least 5 years.

  • Got one last time good for gardeners but not so good for washing cars etc pressure drops quite a bit.

    • same

  • +1

Got 2 both retract system doesnt work properly
    Really annoying! !
Cant complain about the hose itself though

    • -1

You're not using it properly. Listen for the clicks.

      • No not the stop function
The retracting when ur hose has been puled out very long,
Not recommened but pretty cheap i guesss

        • +2

Same with mine, the pulled out and/or pulled in function is rarely smooth.

        • @HantuPocong:

I purchased two of the 30M units from an Amazon UK sale ~3years ago. They are both still as new, with all functionality intact (used every second day).

These 25M units were probably manufactured to a lower standard.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64029

I couldn't believe their delivery speed at the time. Europe to Perth in <4 days.

        • @xuqi:

Wow that is a big difference in price for 5 metre hose longer and I alsoI believe that price won't lie in term of build quality.

I probably will return mine before the 1 year warranty is up and change it with the 30m unit.

        • @HantuPocong:
+1 Mine normally takes two or three goes to retract properly

  • +1

The deal is apparently exclusive to Rousehill. Store opening special according to the staff at Masters in Box Hill (Vic).

  • +3

Hozelock make great units, I had bought the 30m from a deal posted here a couple years ago which cost a lot more.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64029

The thing to make it last is to ensure there is no mud on the hose will winding it back, I just use a rag at the unit head and hold it around the hose when winding it in.

  • +2

Just got back from Masters, ended up not buying it. I don't think I could be bothered installing it and it would just rot away in storage. End up like all my eneloops.

    • Hi Zealmax, it looks like you could use some help from Phil at Hozelock

  • +1

I bought 2 last time they were this price but 1 of them only lasted a few days before it stopped retracting properly. It starts retracting but stops when there is about 5 meters of hose left.

    • +9

the last few metres wont retract if you have any pressure in the hose. Make sure the tap is off and get rid of any excess water in there by pulling the handle on the gun and try retracting again. That might fix it..

      • Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow and see if it works.

  • +3

I bought 3 last time, one for dad, one for father in law and one for me. All still working fantastically. Best hose I've bought

  • I can't seem to find it anywhere, how much were they?

        • +1

But the 25m one isnt a normally stocked item in other stores. Only the 20m one is.

        • @skysky: correct

  • +3

Does anyone that has the above hose reel ever read the instructions?
here is a copy for you. Link:
    http://www.hozelock.com.au/instruction-leaflets.html

    TIPS:
    Fig 6.
If the hose doesn’t rewind properly
    when the tap is on:
! Depressurise the hose, either by
allowing water to flow through it
while walking the hose end back
to the reel or by turning off the
    water supply to the hose.
! Lift the hose end above waist
height if retraction loses power in
    the last few metres.
! Walk the hose end back to the
reel as shown in fig 6.
If the safety lock lever cannot be
engaged when the hose is fully re-
wound, pull the hose out until you
hear one of the four clicks. The hose
is now held in place and the safety
    lock lever can be engaged.

    • I've got the hozelink one. It is hit and miss, its like fiddling with a CISS on your printer.

  • Repco have a competing brand in a 20m hose that is regularly on special for about $40. I bought one last month and I'm happy with it thus far. Solid construction, easy four bolt wall mount. Retractor works OK so far. It is a smaller bore than a regular garden hose though with consequential lower rate of flow though. The odd thing is the pressure is also lower……simple physics says it should be higher….??

    • Yep, I thought the same, smaller diameter should be higher pressure right? Any science types want to weigh in here?

      • +1

Velocity increases therefore pressure decreases, energy cant be created or destroyed only transferred (excluding nuclear). The increased velocity to get the water through the smaller diameter results in reduced pressure.
Conversely when you put a nozzle on a hose it reduces the velocity and therefore increases the pressure.

        • Is the hose length or the reduced diameter increasing the velocity? Is there a way to offset this?

        • +1

@Peace Maker: reduced diameter, apart from swapping it out for a larger diameter hose not really. I think of it like a river, when it is wide the flow is slower then when it gets narrow the velocity of the water is much faster as more water has to squeeze through a smaller area.

        • @tryagain: Thanks.

  • +4

I think the title should read that it's only available at the Rousehill store in NSW.

  • +1

I bought 2 last time and they are the best thing ever. NO MORE HOSE MESS YAY - very happy with my Xmas present to myself😀

  • Just back from Masters Rouse Hill and they have sold out the Hozelock 25m auto reel :(
