  • Can you buy a gift card with a gift card @ JB

    • +1

should be able to. i won a jb hifi e-gift card from coke rewards about the time the last 20% off promo was running. went in and bought a physical gift card.

    • So why don't you do this perpetually with the initial $80? End up compounding each time to infinity within a few hours work

      • +3

coupon doesn't apply to gift card sales.

        • -1

Of course I was replying to tdw who said you can

        • @tc4101: I think tdw was advising how he obtained the coupon by purchasing a gift card using a gift card. The coupon can be obtained by gift card payments, it just won't discount a gift card purchase.

  • can i buy me a $100 giftcard with that coupon?

    • In the small print it states gift cards are excluded.

  • Thanks for editting mods.

Up to $20. Essentially 20% off purchases up to 100 after buying gift card.

  • Anyone have free shipping codes?

Any chance of JB holding a 20% off DVD sale before 31/5/15? if so would they let the coupon stack? Any experience from previous offers?

      What's a DVD?

    • High probability to both questions.

From memory the last times I've used it it's just 20% off whatever the total on the receipt is as long as it's under $100 so stuff already discounted is fine.

    • They might hold off 20% DVDs while this offer is active :(

    • We used the coupons at Christmas time on their 20% off DVDs boxing day sale, and got 20% off the already discounted prices from memory. But maybe they've learnt and won't do it again.

  • Would the 20% stack when they have 20% off blu rays?

  • The $20 coupon you will receive is valid only until may 31.

  • Different question, I think. Can I buy a giftcard with a giftcard? I can get JB Hifi giftcards through another site for %6 off, so could buy a $100 card for $94, then use that to purchase a $100 one and end up $26 ahead?

      I think you can.

Last time i bought $50 gift card to get 20% off buy $50 E-giftcard from Cokereward. So i think this time will be the same.

Im sure they do. I bought a air fryer the last time they had this deal. Also if you are a telstra customer they give you a discount on top of the 20 % off.

ok question guys im looking at buying a camera from jb could i buy 6 of these $100 cards to pay for a $600 camera or is it $100 max purchase

    • I also want to know this. JB has the EOS M on their site for $250 but this would make it cheaper if I use two cards with two vouchers.

      • Actually scrap this, i see its in store only and not online

    • I would think yes .. they are gift cards, which you've paid cash for - so they are as good as cash.
However there are terms with the $20 coupon - eg. you can only use it for purchases of min $100, can't stack with other coupons (ie you'll have 6x $20 coupons which you cant use at once) and you need to use them all by may 31st.

  • Please tell me that Apple products are considered agency products.

I just spent $900 on an iPad 2 days ago (buying on behalf of someone else).

    • The discount is capped at $20 (20% off purchase 'up too $100').

So you didn't miss out on much.

      • Thanks, I thought you could buy say 9 x $100 gift cards.

Read it again, max of 2 coupons, so $40.

There's been a lot of confusion on this type of deal in the past too.

It's not 20% off the gift card.

What happens is you buy a $100 gift card (it's advertised to give that to your mum for mother's day but you use it yourself lol) and they give you on the side a paper voucher (pretty much a printed receipt with a bar code on it).

To reiterate you now have 2 physical objects separate to each other, the gift card, and the voucher.

Next time you make a purchase, you show give them the voucher and get 20% off your purchase. The gift card doesn't have to be part of the transaction, but really most people just use that to pay in the same transaction.

So even 2 coupons wouldn't save you extra for a $900 ipad because you can only use one voucher per transaction.

        • @natsumezoku:

          Thanks for the explanation

  • If I get one $100 gift card online do I also get the 20% off voucher?

    • No, only in-store gift card purchases.

  • I bought a gift card earlier in the week and used my voucher today. My purchases came to around $109, and when I checked the receipt later I noticed my discount was around $21.00, so I must have had my full purchase amount discounted rather than being capped at $100.

Not sure if this was an error on the checkout operator's part or not, and it wasn't a huge discount, but interesting nonetheless :)

I'm planning on getting another few gift cards with this promo so i can get a couple of vouchers to get 20% off some new release games, so I'll see how I go next time.

  • Bit confused with this like everytime with this deal…
Let's say I bought 100$ Gift Card. Next day(Can it be on same day??) I picked 150$ worth of Blurays. After Applying 20% off from Blu ray offer. It comes down to 120$.Now if I use Gift card to pay this amount, they will apply 20% (Max upto 20$ calculation) and I will walkout without paying anything extra. Am I right about this?

    • They -claim- that you can't use it same day.

But I've just taken it to another store down the road and used it there 30 mins after I bought it and it was fine. I'm guessing they only say that because usually gift cards take time to activate and while they quote a day for it to happen, I think they're just being prudent because a lot of the times it takes minutes. (And really who's going to test it because usually you don't buy a gift card and use it 5 mins later :p)

In your example I think you are correct.

$150 goes to $120 with the 20% off all blu rays offer. So $120 left apply the paper voucher from mothers day (max $20 off) bringing it down to $100. Hand over the gift card that has $100 credit on it and pay and you're good to go.

At least how I think it should work, if not you'll only be off by a few bucks so no big deal really.

If you want to do it you should get on it quick though, while the voucher has an expiry date of end of May or something (I don't remember the exact date), the can only receive the voucher up till mother's day.

From memory when I bought some stuff yesterday. total was just under $140 (of the original price of all items, not of the price tag on the items that already has 20% off all blu rays applied) and I had over $10 left on the gift card so close enough :p

Just don't get confused that the prices on the website, and usually the prices in store, all already have the 20% off all blu rays applied to them. And if that's the price you're getting to totals on (which is likely) you're aiming for $120.

The part I'm fuzzy on is if the 20% off voucher applies to the before or after 20% of all blu ray discount. I could get my calculator out and look at my receipt but that's going to be a buck or 2 difference so meh.

    • I used my voucher and $100 gift card 10 minutes later at the same store and it was fine.

  • Any one keen to take advantage of this deal to buy a MX950T? This should bring the cost down to $44 each.

    1. Buy a $100 gift card and get the 20% off voucher
    2. Buy 2 MX 950T for $110, use the voucher to bring it down to $88, pay with $100 gift card
    3. Split the cost (one pays the other $44 and get the mouse)
  • sorry guys but all the different explanations have just confused me so I have a question.

I aqquired $150 worth of gift cards yesterday. I would love to be able to buy something for around $200 and only use my vouchers + $10 (20% off) how would I get myself a 20% off voucher is there a way to use my gift cards to get a voucher ?
