  • Indian or Pakistani? Most likely Pakistani as most Pakistani restaurants operate as Indian restaurants.

    • Is there any significant difference between the cuisine?

      • +1

India has many states and they have different flavours and could vary between themselves.. The Pakistani cuisine is very similar to North Indian, with perhaps a larger focus on meat.

      • Same thing as Chinese people running Japanese takeaways.

        • Is this like Vietnamese french bread shops?

        • @amanvell:
I think most Pakistani shops use halal meat.

        • @amanvell: Vietnam has a strong French influence.

  • I have been to Himalaya Liverpool before and it is not bad. During that time, they were running the similar promotion via Living Social.

  • I've been here on this deal previously and my experience wasnt good.

The mixed entree was set. We chose butter chicken and lamb roghanjosh for mains. Pistachio and Mango icecream for dessert. Swapped the rice for extra servings of plain naan.

    The good:
    - service: waitress was attentive and accomodating. We didnt feel 2nd rate because we had a voucher. We swapped the rice for naan bread and was OK with it. Other staff checked up on us regularly during the meal.
    - Mixed entree was good especially the chicken - fantastic flavouring, moist and tender

    The bad:
    - Mains: we really wanted to like this place but the curries are not good. Heavy handed with honey and that's all we tasted with butter chicken. Similarly for lamb roghanjosh. Tasted bland and lack of spice.
    - Naan: We had the plain naan. It was a bit oily for our liking and not as fluffy as some of the others we tasted.
    - Dessert: The sake balls and cheese things sounded a bit too adventurous for us so we picked icecream. One of the worst ice-creams I've ever tasted. Pistachio had no pistachio flavour and tasted like frozen sugar. Mango ice-cream was slightly better with some mango flavouring but that's about it.
    - ambience: there was none. White tiles and white walls with white lighting. It feels like a hospital food court.

But at $30, not a big loss if you want to try it out yourself.
The indian restaurant just a bit further down the road (cant remember the name) is much better.
