  • ooooh i love jack links beef jerky. it tastes a lot better than geronimo jerky and it's cheaper too.

  • Its not the nicest jerky though, there is a serious lack of good jerky on the market atm. I've just simply stopped buying it, lol, saving me a ton of $$. Im still hoping to try Geronimo Jerky to see what the fuzz is about(if i ever get a sample, lol) might turn out to be my new supplier.

  • Yeah, Woolies had it on special last week….$2.99. It was my first go at Jerky, and it seemed quite tasty. Looks like "dog treats", but tasty none the less!

    Made in NZ.

  • so that $5 for 100g

    $50 a kilo

which is damn cheap, maybe i should clean out a few 7/11s on my way to work tomorrow?

  • Are they any good thou?? What flavors are there?

  • $5 to try - what's the worse that can happen? you're out $5?

    google it? 'varieties'

    http://www.jacklinks.com/

it's real hard using google you know

  • yeh for that price i might give it another go! ill pick some up tomoz

  • lol I just bought some, had to fill up petrol.

Its okay. pretty cheep, tastes alright

  • is jerky anygood? can anyone compare the taste to anything else?

    • +1

It's much easier to compare it's looks! :)
As ash2000 already pointed out, 'doggy treats' comes to mind, when I think of Jerky. :)

Fair enough for people that like dried, salty beef but isn't a cooked steak cheaper and tastier?

    • i've never eaten a cooked steak when i'm driving… or out on worksite… or on a bushwalk… it's a snack food dude

      • I know. Plenty of cheaper, tastier snacks out there for the price/small size for me but if you really need to get your dose of salty beef while driving rather than at mealtimes so be it.

guess what, banana chips are much more expensive than normal bananas, yet you don't see people complaining about them.
          there's a place for everything.

          • @cheng2008: I effectively mentioned that in both my posts (Each to their own). An opinion isn't a complaint and I believe is still allowed.

People must really love their jerky to be so defensive. It's only a snack right ;-)

Anyone had experiece with Jack Links/Geronimo and the stuff you get from Asian shops?

I usually grab the prepackaged ones in the Asian shops cos they have good flavouring (satay or chilli) and they have it in beef or pork. Last pack I got was $2.50 for 50g (every day price), so value wise this is so so for me unless Jack Links tastes better.

    • I used to eat the one in the Asian shop when growing up. Love them. The factory for one of the brand is somewhere in Melbourne Western suburb. If only I can bring it into the country when travelling.

Why is it OK to bring dry cuttle fish snack in but not beef jerky?

    • I had my sample from Geronimo, and I liked it.

It was the first time I tried jerky, and was surprised at how good it was. Not overly salty for me and I never add salt to my food, or eat pre-packaged foods so it's good.

If you like chilli, the blazzin saddles is yum.

      • Yeh, i've heard good things about that jerky, ppl are complaining about the price, but if it is a better product, its gonna demand a higher price.. I just dont wanna fork out the cash til i try it though .. i really wouldnt be fussed forking out $100 for a kg if i knew i liked it, knowing that a kg will last 3 months or so..

it bought $10 worth… from two stores

they had teriyaki, original and sweet chilli

i hate sweet chilli so i passed on that

it's not true dried jerky… it's half moist and the taste is ok… not great… but good to eat at work

but hey $50 a kilo is what you paid 5 years ago… geronimo sell it for $100 a kilo and that's considered cheap these days…

  • I love this jerky. I'll be making a trip to 7-11 later. :D

  • i just ate 100g (yes I know I have an issue)

it's very filling because it sorta expands in your stomach

i don't like this jerky that much… i like the completely freeze dried stuff so i will probably give this to my dad or something

i'll try a different 7/11 on the way home and see if they have more varieties… original and teryaki isn't doing it for me

    • LOL, it took you 100g's to figure out you don't like it. :)

      • you tell me what i'm supposed to do with it? I paid for it. I had some. It was ok. I ate the rest. Better than feeding the bin.

The vegetarian ones are yummy !!!

    • Sorry, this deal is for carnivores only ;)

I have a vegetarian girlfriend and she was pissed when she saw I was promoting the consumption of dead cow :P

      • +1

there's no mention of dead cows in the ad… :O

      • So promoting the consumption of dead vegetables is ok though?

  • jack links leaves an artificial aftertaste in ur mouth

geronimo is waaaayyyyyyyy too hard and dry but the flavour and aroma is good
if big chief sold the soft type it wud be the perfectjerky

    • I just bought some to try, and your comments are spot on.

This stuff is soft, and should be called 'tender beef giblets' - unfortunately there is an artificial after-taste.

I much prefer the dry/hard stuff.

At least they are honest, not like Big Chief who still hasn't sent my sample

  • +1
  • All sold out at Mount Pritchard :(.
