Is it a "find" or is it part of an arrangement between Dell and MoneyBackCo?

I guess that the codes are generated specifically for MoneyBackCo.

Sorry, but I simply can't trust Dell.

Is this going to be yet another pricing error?

    No thanks.

    • Except the prices are nowhere near as out of line or ridiculous as they were with the mouse and router that were posted here.

Yeah… It looks like a pricing error
      I know it's the same for most things… I just don't like it. :P

        Yep, pricing error.

        • -> Dobs

The US model listed is > $1000 AUD. If you were to import it, don't you need to add import duties as well as shipping for the price comparison?

      • one is 1066mhz ram and the other is 1333mhz ram, one is 250gb@7200rpm hdd the other 500gb@5200rpm.

one is US warranty, the other local warranty.

how about delivery charges and insurance?

it's not "same for most things", and also not a pricing error, but a very bad case of product research.

I don't think that dell's ever had a pricing error where they're offering 10-15% off their prices (which is approximately what the $100 - $150 discount does here). Pricing errors have always been associated with a much larger discount so I really don't think a negative here is justified as the deal is genuine.

If as consistent as you say, then this raises even more questions about Dell's practices.

Why are pricing errors never MORE expensive than the "old" price?

      • +2

If pricing errors were more expensive, then they would never show up as a bargain here or on any other forum. Something like that wouldn't be a hot topic for discussion so even if it were to happen, it is unlikely that it would be noticed.

      • Do you know that they haven't set them too high for a fact or are you just saying that because no one came here and posted about it?

In fact, how many examples do you have of this happening? I can think of about three in recent times (Logitech mouse, Linksys router and a monitor in a different country altogether) which admittedly is too often but isn't nearly a case of it happening as often as you seem to be making out, especially since they tend to have sales on a close to weekly basis for at least something on their site.

Eb Games has been known to list games as $999 when they don't have a price but you won't see people making a huge deal of it or it being posted on every second bargain site or gaming site in general.

  • dell again? sorry
