This really annoys me. Tigerair provides a great deal with this offer, while at the same time increasing their normal prices by at least $10-$15 per sector… http://www.tigerair.com/au/en/real_deals.php

Melbourne-Perth for $172 return is still pretty good.

      • I agree, which is why I've + the deal. But why jack the prices up to begin with?

        • last time I remember Tiger has return for 1$ so whats 17$ return :)

        • +1

          @castaway:

Well it's a $1 until they cancel your return flight at the last minute without any pre-warning. But at least they were kind enough to refund the $1 per passenger

      • +1

That's an amazing price. I hope people support it and don't price match with JetScum or deals like this could end.

  • 17 millionth not 17th million :/

    • +1

      fixed for you.

      • +2

No he was right first time

        its 17th Million

        First Million
        Second Million
        Third Million etc..
Million is used as an item

    • +6

      No…One millionth is equal to 0.000 001.

      Op was right first go.

      • +1

No… One seventeen millionth is 1/17,000,000 but Seventeen millionth is ordinal 17,000,000th.

The millionth person is ordinal 1,000,000th and one millionth is 1/1,000,000. It's a bit ambitious in this case I know but it's all in how you use it.

That said 17th million is not incorrect either.

        • +1

          Ambitious? Or ambigious?

Anyway I think Lavec is right. 17 millionth is used as a position emphasing the 17th million customer, while 17 million is implying the total number of passengers that used the service.

Both imply the same thing but is slightly different at the same time.

TL;DR I think 17 millionth is used correctly in this context.

        • @erikkobargain: it should just say 17 million passengers sale. I think both of those suggestions are phrased badly.

        • @Agret: Well sorry, language never has been my strong subject and yeah I agree with you. If the whole debate was on the title, then that's correct. I was refering to the 3rd sentence inside the post.

        • @erikkobargain: Ambiguous actually :) I must have autocorrected incorrectly!

Are they strict with carry-on? I see they want $23 pp per flight to increase limit from 7kg to 12kg.
Does the 7kg include the contents of my jacket's pockets? And my bum-bag?
I know one guy who went on a scuba diving holiday, and tried to wear his weight belt on the plane. But that was before they started confiscating pocket knives and water bottles.

The 7kg limit is crazy for carry-on. My laptop and ipad, hard drives and cables and chargers and the bag itself and I am already at the limit. I used to travel with a 7-8kg wheeled case and then shove all my gadgets in a big satchel as my "laptop bag" which actually weight another 7kg and would sit on top of the wheeled case, but now I might as well take a big suitcase because the carry-on limit is so small.

      http://www.smh.com.au/business/aviation/tigerair-to-crack-do…

It does not include your jacket pockets or your bum bag :D

      • +3

Most people don't carry a an entire server room when they travel. 7kg is standard, I've travelled for months on a 7kg carry on bag :)

    No dates for unigames :-(

  • +8

I read this as "Return Trip for $17".. bah.

  • +4

Argh, I thought it was return flight for $17 facepalm

  • 100$ for return flight to Melb is not great deal.
I am still waiting for 2for1 deal .

    • +5

It is a great price from London, but a poor one from Moorabbin.

  • Nooooo… No cheap tickets to PAX Australia (from Perth anw)

  • +5

Its not a return trip for $17.

Its a return leg for $17 or a return part of a trip for $17.
    Misleading!!

    • -1

Its not misleading… It clearly says "Pay to go"

      • +1

The title has been changed since my post. Check the history of the deal and look at my post time to see what I was referring too.

  • Does the advance button on the date of flight work for you?

  • Will Jetstar price match this promo?, if so I'm tempted by the Mel-Bris and return for $91.

    • If you call and ask for us, I'll give you a +1 =p

      • +6

Just did a price match with Jetstar for MEL-Gold Coast - $104/pax (:
Works out to be at least $60+ cheaper compared to Tiger (incl service fee)

  • Trying to score cheap flights to Cairns for June long weekend, don't think it'll happen.

  • far out, I was so worried I'd miss out that I went too fast and didn't realise my return flight was for a week later than what I wanted… + $15 call centre fee to change my booking

  • I haven't flown Tiger for a while but I've noticed that they have Web Check in again and also that their cancellation rate is actually the equal lowest of all domestic airlines. Departures on time is poor, as is arrivals, but all things considered, they seem pretty comparable to Jetstar:

    https://www.bitre.gov.au/statistics/aviation/otp_month.aspx#…

  • Can't find any flights from Mel to Per that are with in 1 hour of a jetstar flight :/

    • Perth is frustrating, noticed for SYD/PER flights they're often just 5-10mins outside of the 1hr window.

  • Bogus - nothing from Perth, that I can find.
