  • Remember when this was $370?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/191898

    • Not sure if there is any different in specs but that one was Japanese version.

    • That is Japanese version

    • +1

I think the one for $370 was the Japanese version. This looks like the international version therefore it won't have a problem with our networks.

  • Good price compare to those crazy asking for $500-$600 at gumtree.

  • Hi, does it come with an AU tax invoice (ABN)?

    • +1

Most likely no. DWI operating from Hong Kong.

    • They have an ABN. It's TRUDARK PTY. LIMITED ABN 58 003 759 662, specifically to Digital World International ABN 58 003 759 662 of which, Trudark Pty Ltd is a holder.

Good luck trying to claim warranty though - their warranty is not easy to decipher. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194182)

  • So will this phone work with any Australian network 3 and 4g?

    • From DWI's website:
      2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
      3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
      4G Network LTE 2100/1900/1800/850/2600/900/2300/700

Compare with your phone service provider here - http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_frequencies

      Short answer, yes.

  • Just me or it is only available … in white? not that I'm mobilist or anything.

    • Only white available.

  • I tried to checkout and pay using paypal and they tried to add around $8.50 as paypal surcharge.

    • +1

Yes DWI charge 2% surcharge for Paypal.

  • Not good with mobile frequencies…will this work with any 4G provider in Australia? What about warranty?

  • Good price cuz the Jap one I purchased is giving me all sorts of headaches

edit: should have paid the extra $50

    • What headaches exactly?

      • The custom ROM SpaceX 4.2 is incompatible with certain apps causing it to crash on launch. So I reverted it back to stock ROM and now there's no reception. Then in hope they might have rectified the issues in the newer version of SpaceX, I upgraded and it still has the crashing issues for certain apps.

But I understand why they had to install the custom ROM. Hell, the stock Jap au s5 comes with SO MUCH crap!

          Regards,
          DWI Australia

      • I'll second that. Wish I paid a bit more.

        Problems I've been having:
        Finger print scanner doesn't work.
None of the online banking apps work properly… Actually, none of the apps work properly.
The camera app crashes at random.
It's different thickness to standard s5, so I had to remove the back to get an otter box case to fit
        Doesn't come with a charger

        It's not an official Rom

DWI don't even bother responding to tickets you raise, so basically … It's a very expensive Chinese phone.

  • Dose this phone version work with all 3g and 4g frequency in Australia?

  • nvm

  • I placed an order yesterday, has anyone ordered from DWI before? How long do they normally take to ship from Overseas?

    • Their site says

Standard shipping to metropolitan areas: 2 - 5 working days
Standard shipping to regional / remote areas: 4 - 7 working days

      from time of dispatch.

I found no mention of things coming in from overseas.

      • +1

Yes but they ship phones from overseas as far as I know.
The shipping times noted above are once the device is received in the country by DWI I think.
        Maybe DWI rep can confirm!!!

        • I will reply when I get my s5. Hopefully it won't be a necropost.

        • My s5 came in. It is a Taiwan version. The consignment sticker says it comes from Hong Kong so you were right kiwiinoz. I purchased this a day before the sale started though (at $455). So expect to get a phone real soon. I'm gonna put XtreStoLite on mine.

        • @rolypoly:
          Was it factory sealed?
Any network branding on the start up screen?

        • +1

@Joe888: I think it was factory sealed, there is a samsung sticker on one side and on the other side there is some barcode sticker. I don't know what it is supposed to look like from the factory. The transparent sticker on the back of my phone was not centred for some reason. On the back of my phone there is a logo except it doesn't say duos. The OS seems stock, just samsung bloat, none from any carriers. Starting up the phone does not display any other logos.
