  • Still good to me for both online and click and collect

Good price my 'CFO' was nagging me for a new one. She will get a surprise tonight (maybe I will too :P )

  • Just came back from OW Dee Why with 3 x Space Grey units although they didn't seem concerned about the limit if I wanted more. Have been looking to get these as a work expense and thanks to this deal (and the budget) I'll be writing these off this financial year. Thanks OP - although my work bank balance is now a bit less than it was!

  • I just bought it from JB last week… Now to try out my credit card price match feature.

    • Credit Card price match?! That's a new one… care to share?! Which card is this?

      • I think he means price protection like 28 Degrees.

        • +1

But you can't do that if you bought from JB Hifi and the price at JB Hifi hasn't dropped. It has to be an advertised price.

        • @illumination:
It's CBA platinum debit card.. I will call them up about it to see - the conditions seemed that it had to be a generally available price, same model, and between $75 and $500 difference. I couldn't see anything about it being from the same shop - just not an online-only shop.

edit: This is the policy detail.

        • @airzone:
I got stung regarding this, they needed a 'printed Catalogue' as screenshots of the website are not accepted. Also diff should be >$75 for them to process.

I think you mean, "trawling Static Ice". But hey no judgement if you were genuinely trolling. We live in a free speech society, after all. And kudos, I wouldn't even know how to troll on Static Ice. ;)

    • -3

      Actually OP is right.

      troll
      verb
carefully and systematically search an area for something.
"a group of companies trolling for partnership opportunities"
fish by trailing a baited line along behind a boat.
      gerund or present participle: trolling
      "we trolled for mackerel"

Just nowadays, trolling has a new and more popular definition to it. Just like how gay used to be for happy, or fags for cigarettes.

      • -1

Actually no, this is not a dictionary definition, the correct term IS trawling.

        • -2

trawling is NOT the correct word in OP's usage.

trawling is only just a fishing term and should only be used in the context of fishing (it must involve a net). Trolling on the other hand can be used in a fishing context and anything else.

          http://grammarist.com/usage/trawl-troll/

Trawl means to catch fish with a large cone-shaped net. Among troll‘s several verb meanings is to fish by trailing a line behind a boat. Because both words denote types of fishing—albeit different types—they are often confused. This is easy to avoid if you remember that trawl is only a fishing term (that is often used metaphorically in nonfishing contexts) and involves a net.

Both words can be used metaphorically. Troll for means to patrol or wander about an area in search of something. Trawl for means to search through or gather from a variety of sources. Because these two phrasal verbs’ definitions are so similar, trawl and troll are often mixed up in these uses.

  • Thanks OP, good to use it with the new ANZ card applied last week.

  • I wonder if it is a price error because the 16GB one is exactly $619. Anyway I bought 1 for delivery.

    • 16GB one at Officeworks is $578.. looking at Apple Store.. I see you were referring to actual Apple site..

  • Just bought one from Brisbane in store cbd. Price is correct. Thanks op

  • Bought from jb they matched price nice price

  • -3

How much mate can u read I said jb matched the price so how much

    • Sorry mate i misread it.

      • +1

You weren't the only one, I misread it too. I think the lack of any punctuation has something to do with it.

        • The first word was capitalized. So prolly incorrect to state lack of "any" punctuation.

  • All good Jason go to jb mate they will match good luck

  • -6

Ozfeed punctuation not up scratch mate is this a site where people discuss bargains or is it a school class I finished school 35 years ago boy good luck

  • thanks OP…got one this morning from Dee Why…man there said they'd just got a new shipment in so should have plenty

Has anyone successfully managed to price match at Big W?

    • Yeah curious if this has been done?

      • They can if they have stock, I asked last month at BigW highpoint and the lady said there was no stock in this specific model, maybe they re-stocked. Give them a call or try the online help.

        • Hmpf, yeah no stock for Melbourne - a shame!

    • I don't think BigW have stock in store. tried a few store online, none in-stock at store.

  • +1

No problem getting this price matched at HN for those wanting to purchase this for $519 after statement credits (2 registered AMEX cards required)

  • Does officeworks have a price guarantee policy (I think that's what its called), I purchased this model the 29th of April :(

    • I don't think they do but if you want it done, I'd suggest you give it a shot and go back and ask for it as a "good will gesture". Be polite, because they have absolutely no obligation to help you out with such a thing.

  • Thanks OP, got this price beaten at the good guys.

    • +1

By much? Just wondering if it's worth the effort to go there

      • Ended up saving an extra $10 at the Good guys plus I'm travelling abroad in August so I'll get the GST back… Woo! Now to decide what to do with my other iPads lol.

  • i went to David jones and the salesperson said no price match. Best price is $690 @chadstone

    • But they have a price promise policy

      • Thanks. i will go back. Had to go to work. Got giftcards to get rid of.

        • I have a $200 card and was going to buy more until I read this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194241#comment-2751906. Under $500 for the ipad would have been a great price

        • @unity1:

Do you have an entertainmentbook? 10% david jones gift cards..youu get them straight away

        • +1

@randy: Correct, but you get $40 back on a $200 card through the AMEX promotion, so 20% off.

  • i just went to office work and got one for $619 …please note that the pomo is only for grey color , although the staff doesnt seem to know the different .

Thanks OP, bought it last night.

    1) price matched at HN $619
    2) Used two amex cards and received email confirmation of $50x2 back
    3) going to japan next week, GST TRS refund of $56.27
    4) as a company asset, GST credit towards Q2 2015 BAS of $56.27

    :)

    • really? T&C do say not valid for certain brands including Apple.

      • I think the T&Cs are normally broken with "purchase type". For example, they always say Gift Cards excluded but many of us (myself included) have always been able to purchase Gift Cards from these AMEX statement credit promos. The ones that require online purchases seem to be the ones that are a little bit more difficult. Something to do with them not being able to see what you actually bought in-store, but they are able to see what items you've bought online.

        • OOps! so I missed out the $100 credit!

    • Confirming the above, yes, bought from HN and confirmed $50 back.

    • And confirmed today yes two $50 credits received on my amex cards 😁

  • Thank you so much OP! I almost bought it from apple store and saw this post. Thanks a lot.
I initially plan to get them from JB (they confirmed with me over phone conversation that they will do price matching) but unfortunately they don't have stock in gold colour..
So I bought them from Officework in gold colour today. Hopefully it could help me in my study… =)

  • Thanks OP picked one up from Hornsby officeworks.

  • New one coming or not, the re-sale on this thing if looked after properly would be $450 -> $500 even in 9 months. So I got one - thanks op.
No Big W tho, so paid the $619, still good.

  • +1

hmm I dont need this…but I have 2 AMEX cards and a Harvey Norman nearby….

  • Hey peeps, I also got office works to price beat David Jones on the apple smart case (at $79.98) in case anyone else was interested in getting a case at the same time.

    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/m20/en/davidjones/ipad-air…

They have blue black and red at that price

  • Thanks OP… Bought One Gold colour yesterday from Caroline Springs.

  • Buy Or Not to buy. That is the question…

  • This is marked as expired but the price is still $619.

  • Hi all,

I got this discount code for HN from the price beat but the wife ended up going into store to buy it instead for $619..
Dam.. i could have saved $1.45!!!! NoOOoOOoo.

Well the code is all yours Ozbargainers..

Apply this discount code for WCWOVJMPREK0YJXB for $617.55 ($121.45 discount) on the Ipad Air 2 64GB Wifi.

Not sure if it's just a once off code or not.

If someone does use this code, can you please comment to let others know that it's be used (Not sure if it can only be used once or multiple times)

EDIT: This is the direct link. It's for the GOLD color: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/applymyoffer/WCWOVJMPREK0YJXB

EDIT2: Also just letting people know that "some" staff at HN are rude and it was a hard task for the wife just to go in to let them know that officeworks is selling it for $619. The took off for ages and called up to confirm it's not an price error and confirm that there was stock before they agreed to 'price match' it.

    • tried and it said 'your offer is no longer valid'

      • Could've been used by a non-user (i.e. someone who just browses).. seeing as you replied about 6 hours after he posted it I think it's likely.

  • FYI, Chadstone JB Hifi and Dick smith refuse to price match citing it's below cost price. Price match request exclude all apple products… what a load of BS. It was chadstone VIP night yesterday and I was hoping to do all my shopping at one place

  • I just did a live chat on HN website asking about a price match. I copied the Officeworks link for them. They were able to offer $618 and has created a link for me with it discounted to $618. Looks like they created a promo code for me which discounts it down. Unfortunately with that, I couldn't use a further code for the $25 off online code for signing up to their newsletter. Although will get the $50 rebate from AMEX.

I'd recommend anyone still to utilise the HN AMEX offer that wants an iPad to do the same!!!

    • Thanks. Will give do the same now.

  • Harvey Norman Caringbah Won't price match even after I've showed the office works catalogue.

  • Went to both Harvey Norman & JB-HIFI as we were already out and about, neither would match, in the end went to officeworks. Seemed to have plenty of stock

  • So is this OW's new price on the iPad Air 2 since they now advertise it on their front page?

  • Harvey Norman Maroochydore refuse to price match the Officeworks 200m away with stock using every excuse in under the sun. I missed out on the $50 Amex credit and just went to Officeworks in the end. Officeworks was quick and the guy didn't even try and upsell and get us to buy accessories. Harvey Norman did however offer to price match JB at $738… WTF

    • People should start recording the audio of this idiocy that "we'll beat any price" stores get up to .. and then send it to Choice or Consumer Affairs.

Either don't price match or don't make claims specifically that you price match and then refuse to price match.

      I think that's reasonable no?

  • This price is still current as of today

    • +2

Seems strange, that it is soo much cheaper, and still on sale. The new Ipads wont be out for months..

At least a lot of people were able to take advantage

  • Thanks OP, just bought a silver one :)

  • +1

Bought one price matched at Harvey Norman, used two AMEX to get 2 x $50 cash back. Total $519. Awesome.

  • iPad Air 2 still being used daily and going strong after the Officeworks purchase a few weeks ago. Thanks again for the info, OP!

  • been trolling static ice for weeks

    Wut kinda boat ya got?

    • I'll try my luck at my nearest AMEX participating HN.

      • Yep $619 - all systems go :)

  • Purchased one via HN online chat. Used Amex $50 rebate. Unfortunately can't split into 2 payments online. But that's the convenience of not having to haggle with in store sales rep to price match.

  • hey can someone please tell me how this cashrewards thing work? tried doing it but the maximum woolworths voucher you can apply for is for 500 bucks!
