Also if you buy this phone batman will punch you in the face.

    • Admittedly though the elephone range looks pretty good.

    • Robin will also drive it home by punching you in the nads at the same time….

      • +1

Dunno about the nads, I reckon Robin will punch you in the ring

        • Or in the freckle?

  • i will prefer to wait for elephone vowney which is expected to launch next month and will around $50 to $100 expensive than this

Possibility to get it for $159.99 usd

    • I wouldn't go by this. I've tried getting one every Wednesday on their "flash sales" and once on the opening event. Website crashes when you try to enter them and by the time you're in they're sold out. Also each website is a random chinese website and you have to sign up to their emails and what not before being able to purchase.
      Pain in the ass!

  • +2

Do people reckon this is a good buy? The specs look good on paper to me, at a nice price.

What about concerns around malware on phones from the smaller Chinese players? Or can this be easily overcome?

Sorry for the noob questions, I know very little about Android.

    • +1

I bought one from the deal the other day (similar price).

I have a LG G2 and was considering the G3 till I found out about the elephone.

Specs look good enough especially for the price.
Main draw card is the low price so I took a gamble and ordered one.

Im betting it'll be good enough to last at least a year, after which I'll reconsider getting a new phone. Given it's relatively cheap, I'll have the extra cash to spend later on.

      • Can I ask where you ordered yours from? I've never dealt with DealsMachine before, so was curious to see which other sellers would have a similar price.

        • +1

got it from the geekbuying deal but i think that deal is over now.
          cost me $US199 delivered.

      http://www.computerworld.com/article/2488613/smartphones/sno…

It just comes down to what country you would prefer your details to go through :p

  • Yeah we have a few chinese phones and they are ok, pretty impressive for the money, though once you get over about $250 I wonder what the point is, may as well pay $390 odd for a g3.I have an Mlais m52 and mlais M4. Dont expect perfection from them. The good thing is they are pretty much vanilla android so are quite good OS wise now. Not sure about the spyware though. Really all google stuff is spyware anyway.

Apparently elephone is supposed to be a bit of a cut above. Also the lenovo k3 note is supposed to be pretty good and looks good for the money. Independant reviews are hard to come by for all these phones.

    • also batman punching you in tha face is a common occurrence with chinese phones.

      • I don't get it

      • ok now I get it

      • +1

        I don't get it either?

        • +1

          Oh I get it now.

Never looked at the image before…

  • Whirlpool didn't have much to say about this seller:
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2398465

    Maybe a bit risky?

    • Got a tablet and portable batteries from them a little while back, still working now.
Although i'd say you should still use paypal.
theres also this little guy in case something wasn't quite right
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/188506

  • Presale gets you a leather case ($10 on elephone website), reinforced screen protecor apparently making the phone drop proof (also $10). and 2 years warrenty instead of 1 (25 or something)?

so buying presale is pretty good considering the phone comes out in 5 days :)

  • $259.44 for anyone wondering, shows AUD on the website but when you checkout with Paypal it's in USD, which converts to AUD at $259.44 (for me anyways)

    • I paid $256.(something) yesterday, but that included $6ish insurance. Maybe it went up

      AUD that is

  • +2

Got one for $159.99, will see how good the phone is when it arrives… probably still a month to go though :(

    • Did you have to apply for an ELE Code?

      • Yes

    • how did u get it for that cheap?

      • You need to get an elecode

        • thanks but how do you get the elecode?

        • @clse945111: thanks mate, did u have many goes before getting one? apparently it's pretty hard to get one…

        • @homersyd: I got it the first time they started the snap-up thing for P7000, I was probably lucky. If you have a look at their Facebook page, you'd see that many people are angry at them because it's so hard to get one lol.

        • @clse945111: thanks will give it a shot… (fingers crossed)

  • Does anyone know the actual release date of this phone? I'm seriously considering getting one.

    • Late May, so probably around this week - next week

    • I noticed this deal expires on the 28th may but I couldn't confirm this on the deal website. The deal website says oy SHOULD be released on 25th may. I wouldn't mind waiting if to see what initial reviews are like before I buy but don't want to miss out if the price goes up and/or the preorder bonuses are no longer available

  • Has anyone had confirmation that their phone has been sent?
I was told stock was delayed and that pre-sale was now 25/6. since then they have said due to delay they are first shipping "the former orders", even though i ordered on the 19th May. They also said it would be shipped in 2 days and it has now been 4 with no response.

Anyone know how to request a refund without going through dealsmachine, as they don't really seem to comply with what I ask..
