I have the Mort Bay charger and suggest you try a different one. The Mort Bay one makes a soft buzzing sound as it charges and it also emits a very bright light. While this is somewhat useful in that it glows red when it's charging and green when the charging has finished, it is so bright that i've had to cover it with duct tape to sleep

      • i've had to cover it with duct tape to sleep

Don't you close your eyes to sleep ?

        • +1

lol jv , have you tried standups?

        • Where's the joke here?

      • I suggest you stop sleeping with your charger and bright lights won't be a problem

        • +6

Maybe he gets a buzz out of it.

        • @Utopian: I suspect he finds it enlightening as well

        • +1

@rayski57: Well, he's no bright spark.

      • Thanks guys…might go for the Arlec.

        • +2

note that the arlec only has total 3.1a output whereas the belkin and hpm are 4.2a :)

    • +1

i have the arlec high power one and i would not recommend it,,,it's no way 2.1 from any port as advertised,,although it's working good but too slow

    • +1

I have the jackson 2 port charger and have had no problems with it. Charges devices very quickly.

      • Cheers guys…maybe the Jackson one is for me then lol!

      • +1

My Jackson powerboard USB port killed my USB fan and smartpen. And it doesn't charge my Kindle.

        • And it doesn't charge my Kindle.

My Jackson powerboard fails to charge in one of the 2 ports now… it worked ok for about a year.

        • @jv: Why do you need to charge your powerboard?

  • Any know if the Belkin Charger comes with 30-pin or lightning ChargeSync cable?

EDIT: Checking the DSE site, it seems to be the 30-pin cable.

    • +3
      • so the only difference between that and the OP is the cable? bit of a rip off tbh

anyways cheers, i bought 2 of OP :)

      • -2

last time I was lucky and got offered the lightning one instead of the 30-pin cause they had no stock when I went to collect my confirmed order! I think I scared the manager a bit when he told me he would just cancel the order and refund my money. As soon as he realised he wouldn't get rid of me easily he offered to give me the lightning cable+dual charger plus a 30-pin spare cable. I was kind enough to let him keep the spare cable since I mainly use the charger with two iPhone 6+

        • Lucky you haha.

          someone is menstruating today!

  • +2

What an odd picture… why would they use a vertical double power point for the photo?

    • -1

That's nothing comparing to the Belking official site that advertises the 30-pin cable+dual charger and has a lightning cable in the photo http://m.belkin.com/au/p/P-F8J003/

        someone is menstruating today!#2

    • +1

European/US wallplate, looks cleaner visually for the image, but functionally stupid. Shows their product in a bad way, wastes a power-point.

  • how many charge cables included>?

    • -2

        someone is menstruating today!#3

        • +3

Okay, we can't stand the suspense any longer. Who's menstruating, Greg or Fiona?

        • @Roscoe99: tou forgot to include the "both" option :P

        • @GregFiona:

Nah, that's just an image I wanted to keep from the forum.

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

I considered this for $20 or so (seems the seller is accepting $20 offers):

    www.ebay.com.au/itm/271669038140

But I don't want to take any risk as it could blow up on me :-)

Plus, the belkin comes with usb cables

    • I thought the this Belkin came with a 30pin apple cable. If it comes with Micro USB ones i'll order one now :)

      • My bad. No micro usb cables. Oh well. I'll just buy some from ebay :-(

  • Ideally, you need 12W for iPad Air and Air 2. Takes charging time down from 5 hours with the 10W to 4 hours using 12W

    • note that the air 2 battery is 15% smaller and comes with a 10w charger :)

  • What's good about this ?

    • +5

It's good for charging tablets and newer devices as it has 2 amps output for each port. Also, belkin are known to make pretty decent chargers in terms if safety and performance+efficiency.

Cheap no brand chargers often have lower total output and cannot be guaranteed to be entirely safe.

  • 2A = qualcom 2.0 / quickcharge ?

    • +3

      2A = 2 amps

Generally, the higher the amps (also called current), the faster the charge. This should be around twice as fast as a 1A charger, and four times faster than a 500mA (500 milliAmp) charger.

Thanks a million, had my eye on this for ages, but $20 was too much. Just bough two

  • Great bargain, thanks a lot!

  • Some reading for those interested in a thorough test of OEM and dodgy USB chargers:

    http://www.righto.com/2012/10/a-dozen-usb-chargers-in-lab-ap…

    I'll never use a cheapy charger again….

  • I bought two yesterday….at full price! Never mind, just bought another two.

      Ahh.

      • What did I say?

        • +5

It's just, you bought something at full price. You have broken sacred law of OzBargain.

          @TheOneWhoKnocks:

I can assure you, it won't be happening again.

  • CPICKUP15 can only be used on 4 seperate occasions.

not sure if linked to paypal or ebay account.

  • +1

Thought this looked like a good size in the pics but it's actually quite deep. Comes out nearly 70mm from the power point.

    • thats GOOD. If it was small, the heat would build more easily.

  • Anyone else getting the following msg on checkout - "One or more of your items are not available for pickup at the store location you selected"

Trying click and collect and and tried two different stores now

    • Mine went through, however shortly after that receive an email from the store saying out of stock. Either refund or choose pick up from another store, completely useless…….. I choosed refund.

      • same thing happened to me.

  • +4

The bright side … because of the issues I've had with the checkout, I just went to JB and see if they would pricematch @ $16! Got two for $32

    • Do you happen to have a link to the product online? I can't seem to find it

  • Anyone got a notification to pick up the item in store yet? When I ordered they said estimated pickup time would be today =/

    • Not yet. Got a pickup notification today for my Logitech G602 mouse I ordered yesterday though…

    • I got an email 3 hours after I placed the order, not picked it up yet tho.

    • Got the notification today, ordered late Friday night.

    • Still waiting =/

  • Picked mine up today. Looks sleek. Fast charging here I come! I need to find some good quality cables though. Using OEM supplied cables that seem to be doing good so far.

    • +1

      picked up mine today too

it charges my Note 3 @ 1200mA (same as stock Samsung charger rated @ 2A) on both ports using stock Samsung microusb 3 cable. Galaxy Charging Current app says max 1800mA but i've never seen it reach that, even with the stock charger.

here are some relatively cheap (but good quality) Monster cables if you're near Bondi

      • +1

Thanks for the info. My note 2 doesn't show the charge output but it's definitely just as good too. Very happy with it. Try out Ampere for stats:

        https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.…

I will try to get those usb cables price matched but I doubt it will happen (live really far from Bondi). That is an excellent deal though. Thinking of getting the kmart $5 cable which has a 1 year replacement warranty apparently. So, theoretically you can just keep exchanging if it fails. Don't know the amps it carries though:

        http://www.kmart.com.au/product/usb-to-micro-usb---1-metre/1…

        • thanks for the app recommendation, that one shows max 1200mA for me

yeah i wasn't successful getting a price match at my local (blacktown).. but housemate is going to bondi tomorrow so…. :)

those kmart cables are just the same as any of the cheapo ones you get from ebay/kogan.. except they're 5 times less cheap.. for sure the microusb end will become wiggly and eventually fail (judging from previous experience with same looking cables).. but then again you do get 1 year warranty

        • +1

@CVonV: yeah, I've had a lot of cables like that. Feel bad for the landfill. Even the tikbro ones didn't last.

If you get any extra cables id be happy to buy them off you if you chuck them in a normal envelope :-)
