Simon Johnson Sale - 20% Off Everything + Up to 75% Off Clearance All Stores Thurs - Sunday

100

For those who aren't familiar with the store, they stock gourmet food items. Most of them are expensive so I usually only ever go to their annual warehouse sale.

In previous years, their annual stocktake sale has been limited to their Alexandria warehouse, but this year it's at all their stores, and all products are at least 20% off.

You're invited to take 20% off absolutely everything and up to 75% off selected items at Simon Johnson stores nationwide this Thursday 28 May - Sunday 31 May.

Their annual warehouse sales have been very good in the past, but the cheapest stuff are often short dated. I bought 50 cent bottles of Jamie Oliver flavoured olive oil, jams and salad dressings last year that had a best before date of a few months. A few years back there were also 1kg Valrhona cooking chocolate blocks for $10.

I bought 50 cent bottles of Jamie Oliver flavoured olive oil, jams and salad dressings last year that had a best before date of a few months.

I don't want to know what Jamie Oliver flavour is and I wouldn't pay money for anything that tastes like him!

Ha. Should have phrased it a bit better. Flavoured oliver oil etc by Jamie. :)

      • Better but still needs work :p

        • oil flavoured Jamie Oliver olive….

          Am I doing this right?

      • How many Olivers do they press to make a bottle of oliver oil?

  • According to facebook comments the sale isn't as good as previous warehouse sales.

If anybody has gone/is going, please report on location/goods? Thanks.

    • Went to one of their Melbourne stores - Toorak, agree that it is not so good in both variety and savings in this new format. Toorak is a small store so that may be a reason. In the past I stocked up on pantry goods, Jamie Oliver cookware for stocking stuffers, really love it. This time struggled to find anything to buy. Didn't see many items for 75% off. Some dried pasta are good buys, some antipasti ie sun dried tomatoes, olive paste and artichokes have decent used by time and prices, find SJ to be a tad expensive so the 20% off was good as wanted to try some SJ branded curry pastes. If you are in the area drop by otherwise not worth going out of your way for. IMHO

      • Thanks for the info. A friend went to the Northbridge store (Sydney) and said the same. I might give it a miss this year.

        • In the past I bought about $300 worth of things, struggled to spend $30, usually I throw in a few things that I may use or give as a hamper but prices were not labelled well and nothing of interest. If you need to stock up on teas. I think there are good prices for teas. The photo they have on the FB page is pretty much what the good buys are. 'Cept the ceramics are still at full price and at 20% off, still quite pricey.

        • @piggyfund:

Was at the Chadstone store today and didn't see anything of exceptional value. Picked up some crackers and a jar of sun dried tomatoes but that's about it. Some of the discounted stock are short-dated, expiring by June/July.

        • @Craze: yeah thumbs down for this year's sale
