There's a review on youtube from Lachlan Likes a Thing.
If you don't want to watch, it's a mixed bag, but he says that there are some better other options on the market at the moment. This is a really cheap price though, so I think it might be worth picking up if you're looking for a new portable.

Using MIDWEEK25 brings the price down to $158.08 + shipping.

    • Just did the same. Such a good price!

      • Damn I missed it! I was actually looking for a set of these for a few months :( It is showing as $348 now.

  • anyone received it?

    • Got mine this morning. Been using it all day

      • How do you find them? I received mine today as well, but I haven't used them because I'm thinking of selling or trading them for Bose QC25 for better noise isolation.

        • +1

If you are after noise isolation, then they are quite poor in that area. Would not recommend for use on trains or buses since you need to turn up the music quite loud to block out the noise. Sound wise I would say it has a more fuller sound and better bass when compared to the QC25.

        • @smallpotato: I've heard that they are semi-open design, which would explain that.

        • @AznMitch: Yes kinda semi-open, there is a port on top of each earcup. That is where the main noise leakage occurs. The material of the earcups also seems a bit thin hence less noise isolation.

        • @smallpotato: I really wanted to get one, at this price, it's a steal. Though I already have an alright headphone, so I couldn't justify my purchase (I couldn't upvote this deal because I downvoted by accident)

        • @AznMitch: It was an impulse buy for me coz I couldn't resist the great deal. I do like the headphones. Probably one of the most comfortable ones I've owned and has a fun sound, so I am going to keep them. FYI these Dick Smith deals do come around every few months. I have seen the MDR-1R (previous version) for about ~$140 in store before. Good luck!

        • @smallpotato: Please don't tempt me, I do need an outdoor headphone and do need something that sounds fun but… :'( Oh well, I will probably impulse buy.

        • @AznMitch: Haha I know exactly what you mean. I'm in need of some new earphones and have been resisting all the xiaomi piston deals. I will cave one day….

        • @smallpotato: Piston 3 sounds alright, though it's not flat like they advertise it to be. It's a fun earphone. I'd recommend them at that price that they are selling at, it sounds alright.
