Similar to this deal, but seems to apply to any purchase, not just one or two companies, so long as you get the necessary certificates after installation: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/183194

You can either connect to gas or replace a non-gas appliance, but either way, you need to be part of the Jemena network (which is all of metro NSW plus parts of regional NSW.)

Highlights from the Terms and conditions

To be eligible to participate and claim in this offer, individuals must purchase a Natural Gas hot water heater, Natural Gas ducted heating system or Natural Gas flued heater or log fire as a replacement for their existing non-Natural Gas appliance between May 1, 2015 and October 31, 2015, and have the Natural Gas appliance installed by November 30, 2015 or, purchase a Natural Gas portable heater as a replacement for their non-Natural Gas appliance between July 1, 2015 and July 31, 2015 and have the Natural Gas portable heater installed by August 31, 2015.

The Cash Back Card claims will allow for up to 500 claims for Natural Gas hot water systems, 500 claims for Natural Gas ducted heating systems, 500 claims for flued heaters and 500 claims for portable heating, or up until the end of the campaign - each valid Cash Back Card has a value of $1,000 (ducted heating only) or $500.

  • Any thoughts whether the EFTPOS card can be "cashed-out" to a bank account, or used to pay off Credit Cards?

The cashback cards are issued by Gift Card Planet, which has in its T&Cs:

"The gift card cannot be redeemed for cash, reloaded, returned for a refund, have their balances consolidated to a new gift card, or be replaced after expiry and are not legal tender, account cards, credit or debit cards or securities."

… which I'd say is a pretty firm "no" unfortunately.

  • There was a similar promotion in WA some 8 years ago. Our gas heater has been good, but don't assume it is very cheap to run.
With solar panels being much more affordable now, I would generally recommend people to get a good reverse cycle aircon, powered by a 3kW+ solar panel array. I think you will save on the long-term. But others may disagree.

This can be used in conjunction with the Rinnai cash back offer here:

Fantastic. Have added it to the OP.

  • I bought a rinnai portable heater recently. Who is qualified to install it so that I can make a cash back claim?

    • I didn't see anything in the T&Cs that specifically states who is qualified, but it seems the only evidence you need to provide to make the claim is the compliance(?) certificate and the installer's details? Maybe just try go through the claim process and see what it asks you for.

      • Thanks for that. I just realised I need to have purchased it in July :(

      • If its a portable gas heater the installer would be yourself as it just plugs into the wall.

No idea where the "compliance certificate" comes from, unless there is one as part of the documentation for the heater?
