        I wouldn't take their "rumors" too seriously - they have been talking about the "A7RII" since last year, and more recently they were talking about "March-very early April", then when those dates passed by, it was late April, then May, then it moved to June, or maybe July…

        The site's statement from 28th May (currently the first news item) is probably the most honest : "I am yet not(!) sure when the A7rII is coming." [sic]

        Whilst an eventual update to a popular camera like the α7R is almost certain, there is not even any official confirmation it exists yet, or that Sony will use the name "α7RII", or whether it might be replaced with a new model nomenclature and structure like they did when they moved from the "NEX" series cameras to the α6000/α5100/α5000.

        This sale is even more confirmation of a7rII coming. No other reason for a $500 discount compared to $200 for the other a7 models, except to sell off the old stock to pave way for the new one.

        Regardless you are not going to get an a7rII for this price, expect at least 2.1k for the a7rII (cheapest non-Sony retailer price of of a7r when it came out.) Sony retail price for a7r is 2.9k right now so the guy estimating 3k is probably not too far off.

        It may well be coming soon, but they were a similar price to this over the Christmas period last year with a Bonus 28-70mm lens, and people were deducing it must be coming soon then ;-)

        It was even cheaper back in August of last year…

        The current predictions may be correct, or they may be wrong like the past ones :p

    Digidirect dropped their price from $2,448 to $1,948 with the $500 cashback. They then dropped the price a further $90 to $1,858 in response to the other retailer's pricing. There's no need to make yourself look foolish.

      They did not drop their price to 1948, their price WAS 1948 without discount adjustment so if their buying price remain the same, they should be doing the sale at $1448. There is no prove now but like I said when I PM you, I will take a screen shot next time.

      Now good luck asking CameraPro to block me from replying too…..

      Digidirect increased their prices for the Sony cash back. We're not stupid. Are you affiliated with them? They have also done price hikes in the past with their 10% off sale.

    Thanks for the feedback. As much as we'd love to be able to do such a price on the A7S, unfortunately at this stage its not something we can do, but we will be sure to let you know if there is ever to be any additional savings on A7S. At this stage there's been significant price increases on some Sony models from April which are starting to bite now.

    They give away metabones because initially they don't have enough lens. Now the FE line up is quite big, just very expensive. So Sony would prefer you buy their lens. YOu want an adapter? You have to pay for it yourself.
