Car Insurance $100 EFTPOS Card With Comprehensive Insurance from Budget Direct via iSelect

171

If you need car insurance this could be a handy sweetener.
Go through via the iSelect link, fill in the various details relating to your situation and so long as you select Budget Direct, you will receive a $100 Eftpos card. I stumbled upon this as I am in the process of renewing and it makes the quote pretty competitive. I presume it is only for comprehensive as that is the only type I tested.

Make sure you give iselect a fake number if you don't want marketing calls.

I did, but then my quote came up with 'we need to contact you for further details'. Apologies to whoever owns 0400123456!

  • I'm already with BD. Maybe I should cancel and rejoin? :)

    • On same boat, woder how current customer can take advantage this offer.

  • so do you end up with same quote amount if going through iSelect versus going direct ???

    • +1

Yes you do. I ran the details through as part of my checking around and there seems no difference that I can see going via iSelect other than the extra$100 card. It actually makes it quite good value if you just think of it as an extra $100 off the quote.

it says, Get a $100 Gift Card & Save 25% on Gold Comprehensive Limited time only…..does it mean that $100 gift card and 25% discount….if yes, then, its really cheap….comprehensive at a rate of third party fire and theft…..

    • Gold comprehensive is about the same price I currently pay at Coles. That said it`s almost 12 months since I have taken out the Coles policy, and it was the cheapest at that stage. Taken the $100 gift card makes it cheap. :)

      • Right and generally I have read reasonably decent reports of the process and experience of an accident repair with BD, not so much with Coles. Catchy ads but that's about it.

  • so which one is good and cheaper and supportive once you have an accidents? coles or BD?

you should get the same offer on comparethemarket.com.au, Get a $100 Gift Card & Save 25% on Gold Comprehensive

    • Really good point - I just checked and its actually cheaper going in this way for me as it offers a low kms option and made the whole policy cheaper.

  • Nice, I just checked against my latest renewal through BD, currently 647.89 p.a with $950 excess. New quote with $850 excess - $478.00.

Just called them to cancel my existing insurance and will apply for a new policy tonight. Have gone through the T&Cs and nothing that will disqualify me :D

  • Has anyone found the redemption form for the GC? I can't find it, and seem to go around in circles.

I think they just email it to you within 48 hours.

  • These iselect guys are F** Cheats still to receive the card or the email from the last deal…

Beware guys, Don't have too high hopes with them.

PS, it's the marriage of the dodgies, ISelect and BudgetDirect

Haven't had good experience with budget direct too, Impossible to deal with them at claims time. Be forewarned Don't trust anything that Iselect promise.

OP, nothing against you , Just that the companies are dodgy as…

    • Well you have a standard cooling off period with the insurance, I think its 21 days.
I would just tell them to confirm the card or I would pull the policy but honestly, I think you have had bad luck. I have read up plenty on consumer experiences of the various companies. I think Budget Direct are OK, not spectacular but not utter shizen like AAMI etc. It comes down to what you agree to and what is in the PDS. As for iSelect, I havent used them before so I cant comment, but comparethemarket.com.au are offering the exact same deal. They are both large very public companies. I doubt they would regularly offer $100 cards and not follow through.

      • The $100 card i think would be honoured as they wont send it out till the third month and they have cancellation fees .

Note that budget direct charge $33 to cancel and $11 to amend a policy. Also i tried to cancel after signing up the day earlier and they were very hard to deal with and after 10 mins of sales talk i got a bit annoyed. Ask them if you can choose your own repairer and how they quote for repairs. They are just sales people and i did not have any confidence in the company. They just told me to read the pds.

    • I wont defend them because insurance salespeople can be right up there in terms of bullshit and there are horror stories with every insurance company but my attitude is that you cant trust the bastards (any of them) to be honest you have to check everything and follow up. Its important you know your rights.
      Here from the PDS:

      "Cooling-off period:
If you have not made a claim, you are allowed to cancel this policy within 21 days of the purchase date and receive a full refund of what you have paid" (My bolding)

  • I have just signed up for a policy with BD through via iSelect, didnt receive any email or confirmation for the gift card yet, anyone who have received it already, or still waiting for it?

  • Budget not coming up via iSelect for me.

At CompareTheMarket I get a bunch of quotes but Budget is listed at the bottom as "Provider chose not to quote"

Anyone experienced this? Nothing out of the ordinary, 'clean' application. Odd…

    • I had this too. I only got one quote, then I removed the speakers (value ~$150?) and got all the quotes.

I just signed up with Budget Direct. Going through iselect it came to $135/month. Going through BD directly I got it down to $125/month with the same $850 excess.

  • Got my $100 Efpos card email today. They wait 30 days to confirm you don't cancel then send you the card.

  • Received an email from Budget Direct about the $100 gift card. I didn't even go through iselect. Just have to wait 30 days to get another email to register for the card.

  • My quote from budget direct was significantly more than other insurers, not worth it for me.
