Target's 1000 count sheets are the bomb.

    • I was about to order some but reviews of them on their site seem very mixed of late..

      • Thanks for the heads up!
        Any other recommendations for 1000TC?

        • I bought some on ebay 18 months ago which are still seem to be in OK condition but otherwise i have nfi

        • @Xizor:

Hi, I was thinking the higher thread count the better, but it seems it isn't so.

          See this article: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2013/09/higher-threa…

Does anyone know where to get a decent 400 thread count sheet set from?

          Cheers

        • +2

Yes, Canningvale. Read their customer reviews. Can find them heaps cheaper than RRP on eBay or Gumtree, etc.

@movieman: Got an awesome Aldi 400 thread count Egyptian cotton set for $49 a few months back (it has a certificate regarding the batch of the Egyptian cotton and everything). Aldi periodically have sales, or some stores have old stock, so keep an eye out?

          Thanks! Much appreciated

Hi, I was thinking the higher thread count the better, but it seems it isn't so.

the issue is that there is no "standard" for thread count. it SHOULD be 1000tpi but as im sure your aware sellers lie…

its like buying 1000 of milk… but you dont know what scale the 1000 is…. it could be 1000ml or 1000µl. one is not going to make you much of an iced coffee in the morning…

Canningvale! Spotlight have 1000TC Canningvale sheets that are much cheaper than on their website, but still very high quality. They are on sale at the moment for less than $50. http://www.spotlightstores.com/bed/bed-linen/sheet-sets/cann…

I also have the Aldi 400TC sheets which I bought for around the $40 mark, and are of much inferior quality. I would not recommend them.

        • @Berecca13: is it online only price? The standard delivery cost is $9 and I don't see and click and collect option.

        • @movieman: I like Sheridan, but RRP is extortionate - try ebay or sales

        • @wtfnodeal: No not online only, they're available in store too.

    • Target used to stock the nice thick linen sheets. Their current sateen sheets are ok but are much thinner/lighter than the ones they used to do.

    Dyson DC35 Multifloor $299 Save $170
    Dyson AM05 $499 Save $100

    Isn't that kind of significant?!

    • big fan of the DC animal… so useful!

    • Can anyone comment on the quality of the DC33?

Its a few gens old but does it matter?

Reviews seem to be overwhelmingly positive on the dyson website (suprise surprise) and pretty average on any other review site.

      • +2

        Check Amazon for reviews :)

  • if anyone looking for iPad Mini and iPad 5th Generation(don't know what this 5th Gen means) fashion back cases selling at $2.00. I bought one of the mini one IMHO its an excellent case. The Polio cases are selling between $4.00 - $6.00.

There are plenty of stock in Target Queanbeyan.

    • +2

Off topic- how do you pronounce 'Queanbeyan'?

      Is it Queen- Bee-Yan, Queue-An-Bee-Yan?

      • I have no idea how to actually pronounce it, but I read it as keenbean XD hahaha

        • I read it queenybean

  • Last time a 50% Target sale sent OzBargain into meltdown, Target Chadstone was closing down.

So which store is on the chopping block now?

    • +1

Target Chadstone is closed because of renovations

Any online code to go with this sale?

    • +1

      Nah Bud none on atm

  • I just bought the 1000tc Sheet from Target Broadmeadows. Sale appears to have started in store also!

    • Was it the same price as listed online?

      • Yep! $79 for Queen.

  • is it worth buying DC44 animal at that price? If not, what would you guys recommend?

    • +2

You have to ask yourself do you need it?
      If not, it's not a bargain. :)

      • I have just bought a big house. wooden floors living and kitchen, tiled bathrooms, 3 carpet bedrooms. no pets. baby on the way. what are your recommendations

        • +3

I have a small, carpeted place with no pets and I don't use mine anymore. I could pretty much do the entire place on one charge, which is fine, but I personally think it does a pretty average job on carpet. I was borrowing my friends upright every few months to "properly" vacuum my place. I have normal carpet, not thick, plush stuff either. I also have a rug in the lounge room, and when vacuuming that it often didn't pick up stray hairs etc.

I ended up buying a DC23 when it was half price and I love the shit out of it. To be fair though I'm a neat freak, so my clean might be above and beyond someone else's.

        • +3

"love the shit out of it" should be in every positive review

    • Yes, its worth it, I have one and ever since we bought it, we have never used our corded Dyson vacuum.

      • There are reviews that the battery doesn't last long after full charge, can you comment on that based on your personal experience? How long does the battery last for?

Does the suction reduce as battery is being drained?

        • A full charge last approx 12 minutes.

        • @he88388:

That sounds really short to me!

How long does it take to charge fully?

        • @victorheaven:

i have the dc59 and its great. Lasts around 20 mins until it stops (there is no reduction as the battery drains) and I believe the DC44 is similar to this. This is enough to do all the living, kitchen and laundry areas with some charge left over.

I rarely use my full sized vacuum now.

        • @jobler:
is the DC44 has a longer battery life than DC35

        • @jobler:
          What's a good price for DC59?

        • @victorheaven: I think the 44 Animal also has 20mins power time, according to their website

        • +1

          @nfr: <$380

          @rps: yes

    • +1

I wouldn't buy it at this price. The DC 45 which is almost identical was $250 after the Amex cash back at Harvey Norman recently. I'm sure you'll able to find a better price in the next few weeks with all the stocktake sales.

  • +1

Can anyone comment on the quality of their Doonas? Need one badly!

    • You mean the 40% off Tontine ones?

    • They're pretty average even for the price. Try Harris Scarf (if you have one close) we picked up a half price single bed one over the weekend. Wool and machine washable for $50.
The linen / sheet sets at target are decent though, I'm about to get one for my daughter with $20 off regular price thanks to this sale posted.

  • Just picked up a Pendo Pad 8 Quad-core Windows … should work out to $114 after cash back + 1 year of Office 365 + 1TB One drive + 60 minutes of Skype (not sure if it's monthly or annually) http://www.target.com.au/p/pendo-pad-windows-8gb-quad-core-t…

  • They also have the Lavazza Lavazza A Modo Coffee 16 Capsules for $10 (usually $12). These don't come on special very often at Coles/Woolies, so I bought a few boxes.

  • Picked up a FW-1316 soundbar for $49 as they have the wrong picture in the catalogue

The FW-1316 is not in the sale and is still $99 so made a $50 saving cos they used the wrong image in the catalogue

Yeah I'm very pleased with myself :)

  • The dc44 animal seems like a good bargain. How does this compare to the newer v6 models I wonder?

  • Should work in conjunction with the Amex offer? 15 back for purchases over 30?

    • ? Did i miss that amex offer?
