Just has this offer emailed to me as i am an existing ME Bank customer.

If you already own an Everyday Transaction Account prior to 3/06/15, refer a friend and could both receive $100 each.

When you refer a new EveryDay Transaction Account (ETA) customer, they just need signup with ME at mebank.com.au/100bonus and make sure they Quote your account number in the promotion code field.

They will also need to make 3 purchases of at least $10 within 30 days of opening it

      Conventional advertising campaigns can often cost much more than that, and not guarantee any customers.

      This way is much simpler, and a win-win for everybody since ME Bank gains 2000 new customers, good publicity and plenty of goodwill while we get sexy, sexy money.

    Anyone know how these bonuses are treated for tax purposes? I'm guessing they're probably exempt as they're one-off reward/gift payments but if someone here knows more might be good to hear it.

          Xmas bonus is a result of your personal exertion and is taxable under the ITAA 1997. However an incentive sign up bonus for a personal transaction account is not taxable under Australian Law.

      I am unsure as I am yet to have been referred. You will not receive a message when filling out the application (are the referee).
      Remember you should notify the referrer when you use there code via a PM so they can alter the number available.

    Hmmm, a total of 2000 on offer but already 3600 clicks on this deal. I hope no non-OzBargainers were hoping to get in on the deal!

    I wonder what would happen if you tried to open an account and included a refer's account number in the application, after the 2000 had already been used up? Would they notify you at that time/ give you the option of not opening the account? Or would they just open the account anyways, and give you (and the referrer) the bad news later? I suppose we'll find out in the fullness of time…

    I'm wondering whether people who just made their new account are putting their referral on the wiki…because they can't refer people as the accounts need to be created before the 3rd.

    That means if you use a newly created account's code, neither will get the $100.

      $100 straight up + 5% cashback for 6 months means you could easily save $200-$400. So alltogether $500 for 6 months and then you can continue using your wespac if you want.

      This one has no fees, this one gives you $100 if you join now, and this one gives you 5% back on your pay-wave purchases for the next 6 months. I'm guessing your Westpac account doesnae' give you any of that.

      But anyway, there's no need to 'switch' as such; you could just have both.

    I wonder if MEBank will take down the page after 2,000 referrals have been hit? It would be poor customer service if they kept the page up and won't pay people referrals. I have a feeling that they will exceed their limit of 2,000 referrals.

    Do mods ever tidy them up after a hammering like that? Or is it okay for a regular member to edit purely to tidy it all up?

    This is the first time I've ever used a referral wiki page (adding my own to one, that is, and even reading one). It looked pretty neat and consistent at the start of the day. My obsessiveness is kicking in and I really wanna clean it up but 1. I'm scared I'll screw it up, 2. I don't really know how those pages work, and I'd hate for my name to be linked to a whole page edit and to then potentially have someone/people complain that their names or details have gone missing? and it be pinned on me, when the deletions might have happened before I began tidying up (or would that be in the edit history anyway? and thus transparent).

    4 AM ramblings..

    It really is such a mess though lol.
