Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i7 $1898 @ JB Hi-Fi

This looks like a pretty good deal. It's the cheapest I have found. If you join it with the 10% education discount it becomes a pretty good deal.

  • Is it the same Surface that costs $1822 after cashback(potentially $1747, -$50 if you have activated the Amex deal-$25 newsletter voucher) in the post below yours?

    • Sorry, I did double check before posting. Oh well. That's what happens for new posters on ozbargain. Will have to be more careful next time.

I've just bought one of these and it's a fantastic unit. Mine was $1810 delivered from Compnow and came with a type cover included.

FYI as well new version supposedly launching next month.

Windows 10 is launching next month. There haven't been any real rumours stating that the SP4 will accompany it. Most say it will rock Skylake and will be released later on in the year. Earliest being September/October.

You should neg this and post yours as new deal

    • I've bought them from CompNow too, got the i5 128GB bundled with type cover and docking station for $1450 ($1300 once I claim the GST back). Can't be happier. With a 128GB microSD card I think it's pretty usable, and a docking I'd say is pretty mandatory if it were to be used as your only computer.

The rumour is SP4 with use Core M and might be cheaper, so i still think the SP3 is a good buy.

    • What kind of battery life are you getting? I have the i5 128gb version and initially it was great. 6 months later, battery life feels like just any other laptop.

      • i got i5, i always thought battery was fairly meh… wouldn't dream of going to uni without the charger. Charger has 2amp usb port for sgs3 4g which also has meh battery

  • This is a lot of money to spend on something that's about to be superseded. Also, not a bargain.

$1800 + and they can't even throw in a keyboard cover… nonetheless, still pricey for tablet/laptop

    • If this was to be my main machine for work and play, at home and on the go, this is what I would go for. Scats all over the iTablets

It's actually pretty shithouse as a tablet compared to an ipad, because there are about two working apps. After that, you are stuck with desktop apps which have rubbish (or, usually, non-existent) touch interfaces or webapps (ugh).

Hopefully win10 fixes that up, because it's got the potential to be amazing. As it is, mine is mostly just a laptop with a touchscreen.

      • I'm sure its a solid machine but $1800 + is still pretty steep by all means.

I'd love one as they're fantastic machines but MS are missing the mark with their pricing. I fully understand the technology employed and the manufacturing costs but if they could sell these for around $1000, they'd sell like hot cakes in winter…..still want one though.
