Kuala Lumpur Return Perth $130, Melb $292, Syd $296, GC $298 @ AirAsia

910

Good morning. AirAsia has an unadvertised special on return flights to KL. These cheap fares (Perth, wow!) seem to be available from around July 9 to mid August. No idea when the sale will end. Plenty of seats available at time of posting. Happy travels :)

Here are the regular screenshots:

Fares are quoted per passenger in AUD and include taxes. A separate processing fee of up to AUD 10.00 will be charged per flight per person for payments made with credit and debit cards. This fee does not apply to one way or return bookings departing from Australia where payment is made using PayPal.

    Awesome prices. Well done :)

As usual, great prices to Malaysia.

I took Airasia 4 times at less than AUD300 in the last 4 years. Very happy passenger!! One of the best meals around too!

  • I don't think you can use the Jetstar price beat unless Jetstar flies direct to KL. Eg if I want to fly Jetstar from Perth, I have to go via Singapore. I think it has to be an identical route in order to use the PBG.

Not sure if Jetstar flies from the east coast direct to KL, but someone may want to confirm or shoot me down in flames if I am wrong.

    • You are 100% correct. No price-beat here. Title changed back to original. Cheers.

Interestingly TA you seem to have found better prices than what's currently promoted by AirAsia! which is $179 one way Perth-KL!

I changed your deal to the promotion then realised that your prices are much better, then changed it back.

Never again with AirAsia. Got screwed by them with a cancelled flight as the reason they gave for flight cancellation (and emailed to me in a PDF letter) was due to "airline operational requirements". I questioned them on this and their response was this was explanation as issued by their legal department!!!

Of course Zurich which covered my travel insurance on my platinum card would not accept this as a valid reason to cover me for the one way flight I had to book on another airline. So now $1000 out of pocket for a last minute flight back to Melb.

    • Sh#t happens I know, but $130 return from Perth? Surely that's worth a punt, amazing price (luggage extra I'm sure but still a great price)

Well they need to fill up other flights to keep the prices low. Next time you fly, give about 3 days leeway as they will always put you on the next available flight. I also never fly budget carrier if I had a connecting flight within 24 hours because it just screws me over if Air Asia cancels one of my flight. But by all means if you travel to KL, great place to visit for just $300.

I have flown AIrAsia at least 15 times between MEL and KL, and over 100 times I reckon across their network and I can't recall ever having a flight cancelled at last minute. They have literally saved us 1000's and allowed us to have infinite holidays when we otherwise wouldn't. I think you just have to accept some bad luck from time to time, could you not have waited till the next flight? otherwise if you have work to get back for other deadlines then always make sure you leave some wriggle room at the end in case of the unforeseen.

      • Had no wiggle room what so ever. Had to be back at work the next day. Ive flown with them since they started flying from Melb. Used premium quite a few times too. They could see this in my account, but still would not budge off that explanation, even after telling them insurance would not accept this. So much for looking after loyal customers. Furthermore I was first rescheduled 2 days prior and then cancelled about 9 hours before I was meant to leave by email with no alternatives offered! They then called me up later just to process the refund and that was it.

Would be interesting to see how many travel insurance companies would accept the reason they gave.

        • fair point.. pretty poor form given you have flown premium..Put it down to the pitfalls of budget airlines and I guess the law of averages says that our time is coming. The few times I have had to call Air Asia it has been painful, I asked for a refund or flight change due to an illness and expectantly got donuts! nada.. I think you just have to accept that there are virtually no compassion or extraordinary circumstances whatsoever in which they will budge… It's their operating model and it works. I have just accepted it and I now see it as taking the bad with the good.

        • @Bullion78:

All these LCCs are great until something goes wrong. As mentioned you need wriggle room each side of your trip to cover cancellations and connections - do this and you will be fine while saving heaps of cash!!!

  • aww one way seems expensive.
oh im looking at 2016 august.

    I guess Jul 15 - Aug 15

  • does air asia fly to iran still

    • Nope.. It has been reported in Iranian news a couple of times over the past year that the route will be resumed but nothing from AA yet.. Wish they would hurry up…hanging out to go there.

@Bullion78: ROFL, always good and cheap tho…ur dong goes a fare way there

        • @unclesnake: experienced dong , uncle snake

  • Booked for early Sept at that fare - good deal !

  • I know that there are some bad things about them, but one positive that I would like to highlight with AirAsia is that, if you cancel your ticket, they will at least refund you the taxes less a small processing fee. Some other airlines give you nothing on their lowest class fares!

  • Awesome, just booked a few flights! Has anyone received a confirmation email from AirAsia after booking? It's been a good half hour and I still haven't received any… usually they come in instantly.

    • +1

you have been had…. just kidding…they will come tommorow, dont sweat it

      • Haha hopefully! Otherwise I'll have to follow he r0xz's advice :)

    • just call their helpdesk and ask for the confirmation email.
my last purchase email didn't arrive even after a day of waiting & I have to call them to get the itinerary sent to my email.

      • I checked my BIG account, and the booking appears there. I'll call them up if I don't receive it. Thank you!

Bugger….. just used Air Asia to come here to KL … arrived just a few hours ago :)

For a last minute long weekend holiday - return for 2 $900 from Sydney…… can't complain. Relaxing in the pool… it was 30+ here when we got in.

  • Did anyone else have any problems paying for tickets via Paypal? When I tried to click on Purchase, nothing happens!

EDIT: Never mind. Figured it out. Had Private Browsing on. Tickets all booked. W00t!

  • All booked for August and paid for via PayPal - thank you @Tightarse

    • hey buddy, just wondering if I can use my amex card attached to my PayPal account and avoid the processing fee?

      • Not sure sorry - I used visa CC.

TA you gem. August 30-Sept 24 for $130.72. Ahh orang putih balik KL and Langkawi the homes of roti canai, beer harimau and beautiful people. Luv KL. Booking on a return fare proved the return sector was discounted by approx $50 than booking one way which I normally do. To check for prices (one way sectors) use airasiaplus.com which loads all prices over a 2/3 week period.

  • Awesome deal! Prices shown for travel periods between Mid July-early August is around $450-$550. Has anyone here had luck finding the ~$290 flights MEL RTN?

  • Air asia "MEGA Sale is back" =)

    • Really?? I know that they are having a promo on BIG (their frequent flyer) redemptions, but I cannot find sale fares for my destinations.
