Typical… just ordered a Nexus 6 on Friday from DWI, ended up paying $610 including shipping. If I could have found the G4 under $700 I would have ordered that instead!

    • +3

Its a constant struggle. Have been waiting to upgrade since start of the year but the price keeps getting better and better.

      • +1

With that attitude, disappointment is a certainty. Just do it.

Think of it this way, the sooner you get one, the sooner you'll get to upgrade it to something else.

  • +3

    This is so tempting!

Edit: The eBay link is showing $699 though?

    • +1

Its $679.83 after you use the code at check out. Make sure you use cashrewards for a further 2% discount :)

  • +1

    $679.83 not 673.83

  • +1

They say they offer 12 months warranty. Hmm never heard of Quality Deals before. Can anyone confirm they're a decent seller please?

    • A decent dealer, heaps of people ordered Zenfone2s through them in the last ebay 15% of deal.

  • +1

Any idea if any of the stores have this in as yet?
Definitely want to check it out in person before making the plunge!

    • +2

Nah not at Australian retail stores yet. None have been able to tell me when they will have it either so I expect a month + still, but hopefully sooner. I'm in the same boat as you, really want to feel the size and see the leather colours before ordering

Be aware there's a H815T model too which has additional 2300 frequency band that use by Optus for 4G+

    • Will the 4G work on other networks though, I'm on Telechoice which use the Telstra network.

      • Telechoice doesn't have access to the Telstra 4G network, only 3G.

        • I have a virgin mobile sim. Will i get 4G with this phone??

        • yes, you will get 4G 700, 1800, 2100, 2600… which covers probably 95% of Optus 4G coverage. TDD 2300 is more important in Canberra.

  • +2

Is the fathers day code alluding the the fact that we won't get these for 2 months?

    • Fathers day in the US is on June 21st.

    • Estimated between Thu. 11 Jun. and Tue. 16 Jun.

  • The way how this is going under $600 is possible end of this year

    • +6

Price dropping at this rate, I think going under $600 is probably only 2 months away lol

    • There'll be a new Nexus by the end of the year. And it might be cheaper than the last Nexus if LG or Huawei are the manufacturer(s).

  • +2

Do these come with local warranties in Australia? Or do you have to send them back overseas?

G4 looks good but there have been concerns about the rooting and ROM installations. Also the leather back is great but it means you won't be using a case on them right?

  • whats a grey version?

  • +3

where are the sub $400 G3 deals we were hoping for?

  • +1

    Please, someone could help me?

I don't know if i should buy this one.
    A huge dilemma here between:

    LG4 x Sony Xperia Z3 x Samsung S6

    • +1

      g4.

    • +3

      S6 if same price.

    • +5

Z3 has the best battery life? So Z3 for me.

    • What kinds of things are you looking for in a phone? Also I think the Z3 is cheaper than the other 2 if that is a big factor

    • Z3 for me, just for battery life. Wish I can find a good deal for Z3. Not sure if it will go under $500 any soon.

    • +1

Without knowing what you use your phone for my personal recommendation would be:

-Avoid Z3 due to hardware issues unless you understand what the "phantom input" issue is that effects Xperia devices. I have been affected by this so I'm biased heavily against sony mobile.

If you prefer watching video or viewing images MORE than playing games the G4 is the device for you mainly due to the G4 IPS screen being better than Samsungs AMOLED screen: images quality is more lifelike on the G4.

Conversely if you favour games more the s6 is a better choice both in terms of screen image quality and potentially an advantage in resource heavy 3D tasks. This is not saying the G4 is a bad gaming device from a performance point of view but if you want the fastest phone then Samsung is faster. Be aware that you will not notice this increase in performance on much other than 3D gaming where it will not be a huge difference.

You will notice the S6 looks more vibrant and has more "wow"-factor for GUI, web etc.

If you don't have a particular preference I would recommend the G4 for being cheaper and IMO better looking.

Also take into account the battery and microSD card situation for each phone. I cannot recall the S6 however the G4 has both removable battery and SD card slot so boxes ticked if that's what you want.

      • whats the phantom input?
we have had 4 Sony Xperias , starting since the original was released, in our house never had a problem except for my son breaking one z3 (bent like a banana, but even then it worked for a month)

        • Input occurring without fingers touching, I notice it was more due to how much I exercise I think (or perhaps I just have particuarly greasy fingers). TBH at first I was like OK that's annoying but big deal but as it happens over and over day after day … well, I hated it :|

        • @Diji1: I will be honest and say it's never happened to me and my wife and son have never mentioned it so I guess not them as well.
I thought there is some trickery done so you can use rhe screen when it's wet, maybe greasy or sweaty fingers have a problem.

I CAN CONFIRM THIS IS A QUALITY SELLER!
I bought an Asus Zenfone 2 from them last month and they shipped via DHL. The product took 4 days to arrive in Sydney. I also had a few questions for them and they kindly helped me out very quickly.

The Asus Zenfone 2 is also a quality phone for half the price.

    • Was yours sealed?

      • Yep in a thin plastic.

    • Please advise quality of pics from camera. Lots of reviews say 13MP camera not good. I've seen some samples & indeed below average quality.

      • The camera is not impressive or going to blow you out of the water. I don't take many photos nor do I take selfies, so the specs of the camera were fine with me. Perhaps you should get a flagship phone if a camera is important to you.

This article sums the camera up:

I bought my G3 from QD_AU and unfortunately had issues with the simcard slot. They quoted me $363 to repair it as supposedly the phone had been damaged by water hence the warranty was void. They also send your phone back to taiwan to be repaired so it takes roughly a month to get anything fixed. I ended up asking for it back, paying for return shipping and getting it fixed at LG Australia for $242.

    • +2

I reckon they need to replace the whole SOC or something most of the time these days as they're all on one piece of er … phoney thingo … electrical bits.

      I'm pretty technical.

    • +2

After having 3 mainboards die on me (on my Samsung S3), Australian warranty is a godsend.

  • Another $150 to go and I'll get one. :P

  • Waiting for the oneplus 2 before i make my dcision… But this is very tempting!!

This is a good deal but if you search on Ebay international not Ebay Australia, there are heaps of these phones going for under $600 some with free shipping to Australia as well. Anyone see any issues with buying this phone, from sellers in the US etc…

    • The phones on ebay international are generally priced in USD and with the current exchange rate the under $600 price ends up being way over AUD 700. An example of this can be seen here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LG-G4-H815-Hexa-16MP-5-5-4G-LTE-… the phone is priced at $585 (USD) and they ship it to Australia for free but the price with the current exchange rate ends up being $761 (AUD) which is around $100 more than this deal

      • Very true didn't even realise that.

  • I was very keen on getting it, but I decided not to because every review says that the battery life is average-below average. I've decided to go with Z3 Compact instead. Damn, only if LG put FHD display instead of a QHD display then the battery life would be around the same as the Xperia Z3. :(

    • z3 compact and G4 are very different beasts, and different size classes. Why didnt you get something similar to the G4, like the Z3.
(BTW, my son had a Z3 for 6 months until he broke it, now has the G3 and thinks it is better, battery not as good though but not bad)
The Z3 screen was great but the QHD G3 is so much nicer I think.

Just purchased one last night if anyone is interested to know how it is let me know and I'll update you guys as I receive it.

    • Yeah, update us with your thoughts on it and the seller. I'll most likely to get it on the next price drop.

  • and the price will drop again in 1,2,3…..4 months

  • Ordered on the 10th and it's still at DHL's facility in Taiwan

    • At least it is safe.

  • I got this when applied the code:
The redemption code can't be used for your purchase.
There is no balance left on this redemption code

    ???

    • -1

      Noob

  • Has anyone seen any movement in their order. My G4 was supposedly sent to DHL on the 10th but it has been stuck in Taiwan ever since
