80

I was looking at my T-Box this morning and noticed an icon for Foxtel on T-Box. So I went to channel 911 and saw the following offer.

Foxtel on T-Box Get Started Package Limited Time Offer!

From 4th June T-Box new subscribers to the Foxtel on T-Box Get Started Package can watch 15 popular channels at no additional cost for three months.
This also includes the “Foxtel on Demand” catch-up content from these channels where available.

This offer will end on the 30th June. So hurry.

After 3 months, ongoing monthly subscription fees for the Get Started package will continue unless you cancel your subscription earlier.

Signing up is easy and you can do it right from your T-Box. Head to Channel 958 on your T-Box and choose “Subscribe to Foxtel on T-Box” today. You can also visit the Application sections via the T-Box home page.

You will be credited with $58.50 on your first bill, which is equivalent to three months of subscription fees. You will see the monthly charges of $19.50 per month for the Get Started Package appear as “Foxtel on T-Box Get Started Package”

This offer is not available if you already subscribed to Foxtel on T-Box.

Here are the channels that are advertised as being part of the Get Started package.

    Why do we need Foxtel?

  • Wow they're still charging $20 a month for this normally? Ambitious…

    • Add sport and its still $5 cheaper than Foxtel/Foxtel Play/Go

      • Be still my beating heart.

  • how much is a t-box if you do not already have one?

I see them on Gumnut for $50 or less quite frequently, but unless you're a Bigpond customer, they're practically useless. Even if you are, they're not a great PVR.

Unless you specifically want the music channels, you're probably better off buying a cheap tablet, a Chromecast and getting a trial for Netflix, Stan or Presto (or D, all the above).

  • Channel 911? Really?

  • Yep 911 its an emergency they reckon

Free is free and all, so why not, but in this age of Netflix and downloads, the only good reason to have Foxtel (in my opinion) is for live sport. And as a former customer, let me tell you, Foxtel on T-Box sucks HUGE for this. The IPTV encoding is low-bitrate garbage. No HD on any channels. Compression artifacts are routinely visible while watching live sport, and movement is jerky. It's (usually) better than an illegal online stream, but not by much. Plus you can't record Foxtel on T-Box, due to IPTV licensing BS.

I now pay $60/month (after 3 months free) for Foxtel satellite + HD + sports and it's like night and day. Plus I can record whatever I want.

If you want to watch sport, do NOT get Foxtel on T-box.

pretty crusty channel list (15 channels) for $20 a month
    imnsho

  • Can you still not able to record Foxtel channels on Tbox?

    • No you can't record Foxtel channels.

  • Is anyone else missing the Foxtel option on their T-Box now?
It is no longer on mine.

  • Is there any confirmation that you do get the first 3 months free? when selecting the Foxtel starter pack (via the Applications portal on T-Box) before confirming the offer? or do you assume that the 3 months of Foxtel fees is credited to your account by default??

    • Just received my first bill after signing up for this. The bill includes the $58.50 credit for the first 3 months as stated.

      • Thanks ssander, also just received my Telstra bill and credit applied :-)

  • Ours won't play the "test stream" so that bodes badly for the actual service. No idea why, our ADSL2 clocks in at 18 meg down and 1.5 up.

  • Just found out why I don't have Foxtel app on my Tbox. My area is not covered by Foxtel on Tbox lol. I'm in Bunbury Western Australia.
Can anyone who lives in my area confirm this is the case? Or are they just putting me in the too hard basket haha
