Little side note

To all ozbargainers, please be as kind as you can to all Big W staff. Can you imagine them searching for each game in the draw then when they go put it in the cases, they go back to their register and see another 5+ people waiting in line just to do it all again with the next customer? You got some others who aren't interested in the deal (like people who have to get their digital photos printed) and some of them may get impatient. This causes big stress for both the staff member and the customer. Please praise them for their efforts as thats the least we can all contribute.

    I picked up a skylanders swapforce pack for the Xbox One today. Nothing else there. it's weird they still have Wii games like Zelda Twilight Princess and Wii Sports/Resort for $40, and Knack PS4 which was a launch title also not discounted.

    I completely missed this though, would have gone on Wednesday night.

      There was like 50 copies of black ops 2 for ps3 few days ago at Cumberland Park SA and i went there yesterday again and they had still 10 or so there… Maybe someone else can help you on here ….unfortunately not going back to that side of town this week

    Ok so I just opened the ps3 that I bought from Big W and turns out it is a return. One of the cables is damaged and the controller is missing. They also have a piece of paper inside saying "missing controller". Anything I can do here except for a refund ?

      I doubt they would be able to offer anything other then a refund unless they have another one in stock. Unlikely though I assume you got it during the sale for $50? Why not hang on to it and just buy the bits you need?

      Replacement power cords or HDMI cables are cheap on ebay. Genuine controller perhaps not so much unless you're content in buying an aftermarket one. I would calculate the costs of purchasing the extras I need to get. If you don't think it's worthwhile, then return it for a refund.

        I got it for $100 because that's how much it was for during the sale. Its just a bit annoying because other people got the same console in brand new condition which is now listed on gumtree for $200-$250. Meanwhile when I actually needed one as a gift is in used/missing condition :/

          Why don't you return the empty box with some cables to big w since the staff not going to check them anyway? Just kidding. Just go back ask if they have licence to sell used or returned goods as brand new. Make them feel guilty and swap the 500GB super slim model or some other models not on sale? Even better ask for a PS4!

          @wtfnodeal: I had the same problem with my xbox one i got a while back for 400, i bought it on layby over 10 weeks when i finally opened it it was a demo/used console.
          went back to the store on the same day and they checked it and instantly gave me a new one, was pretty fast

      Funny the staff didn't check the contents in the box when customer returned it. Or staff took pieces out? I am not surprised when WOW owned DSE a lot of staff "borrowed" them home for personal use and returned them days or weeks later.

      Similar thing happened to my friend who also purchased a 320gb PS3 for $100. The staff advised it was open but that everything should be fine. Didn't check it in store. We opened it up when we got home and the genuine controller was missing but had a 3rd party controller in it's spot (3rd Earth). Still think it was a good deal and he also picked up 10 games to go with it, but it was a bit disappointing.

        At least the staff advised you about it. In my case the staff told me that its brand new and unopened but the box is a bit worn down because they have had the console for so long and it has moved from one place to another in their storeroom. I just think its a bit unfair how we paid $100 for a product and didnt get the proper controllers whereas people who are just reselling the console got the whole package.

I bought it as a present for someone and it was supposed to be in brand new condition and when you open it it looks in worse condition than my 5 year old ps3. If you have nothing relevant to say don't say anything at all.

          @abhii101: just buy another ps3 at full price an takeaway whatever is missing in the on sale ps3 and refund the rest. But that will bring you to as low as the big w staff lied to you it was brand new and unopened.
          If you think the ps3 is in a preowned condition there are plenty used ps3 with complete cables and controller for around $100.

          @piggiepanda: if he managed to buy the console without the controller that means the bigw staff there doesn't even check the contents in it when you do a refund, or worse they steal from their store which I think that probably is the case. $100 is a good price but lied about brand new is another matter. It comes down to if he wants to lie to a liar to get what he is supposed to get for $100. He might be accused of taking out the controller from the ps3 bought for $100 even if it was already missing in the first place.

          @wtfnodeal: Thanks for wording it in a much better way than I did. I wouldn't buy a new one and switch around the contents because that would be pretty unethical. I am pretty mad that Big W staff lied to me about it being brand new and my only complain is that other people bought theirs for $100 and got everything I got mine for the same price but didn't get a controller which is just a bit unfair. $100 for a brand new console is a good price but its about the principle that the staff lied to me. I wont be accused of taking the controller because inside the box there is a handwritten note by Big W staff that says "Needs a controller" And tchi6 apologies for any hostility on my behalf yesterday I should have worded my response better :)

          I think the point is, stop complaining here, go back to the store and let the staff know, see what they can offer you and if you will be required to pay additional costs, then work out if its worth paying extra or just getting a refund and someone else willing to pay $100 for a used console with no controller will be able to purchase it.

Well at least i do that, i know some might not bother till they get home but it does saves you on the trip back and having to justify if anything was missing and all the drama…

    I went to South Yarra and Southland stores today, nothing but shovelware and crappy games without cases. South Yarra had tonnes of The old 3ds xl's I got the guy to scan then but they were still full price. Southland had two very dusty wiiu Mario kart bundles and that scanned full price even when the splatoon wiiu bundle was $80 cheaper and will be even cheaper when the toy sale starts. The Mario kart wiiu isn't included in the next sale unfortunately.

    There's still bits and pieces here and there. Few 3ds infinity starter packs at sunnybank hills and some Mario 3ds cases. Picked up a starter pack for the xbox one, which is all I was after as $3 for a rechargeable battery is a bloody good deal (within the many, many good deals in this sale).

    Wasnt going to post about this, but decided to anyway, I wanted to post my experience at a certain store.

    Found a couple of good games, Thief on xbone, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Borderlands 2 on Vita, Skyward Sword CE, Kirbys Epic Yarn, the list goes on, when I went to the counter I was served by a young guy, around 20-25, he seemed to look annoyed, I just assumed it was because of the number of customers from the last 2 days buying games. So he goes up to the draws to get the guts, and barely looks in them, I mean probably flips five games in the whole shelf, after around a minute doing the same thing at every drawer, he comes to me and says he doesnt have these games in stock. NONE OF THEM, it was obvious that he wanted the games himself and was just going to put the games aside until his shift was over, then I said can I look at that pile of games (mostly wii games) that were at the back of the counter area, he went to go grab them, but then his coworker flat out said "NO those are mine".

    I left with a Pokemon ORAS guide (Pritty hard for them to say they dont have stock :p) and left disapointed, anyone else have similar stories?

      I work at a store and that's unfortunate that you have had that experience. I can only speak for my store and the complete opposite happened as none of the staff were able to get anything from the $3 sale (probably a phone case at the best). Most of us did not even know the sale was happening and were astonished when the price of games and consoles were coming up as $3 or along the lines of that. All the xbone consoles, other consoles and games went to customers - unfortunately we even had to serve a couple of brodens. I wasn't personally there on the day but this was the feedback I got from the staff that were and they are genuine. That being said I did pick up a Vita a few weeks back prior to the $3 sale for $150 but that was apart of the initial drop zone sales. When the $3 sale happened the vita dropped to $50 and boy was I guttered lol.

    I just picked up a dead rising 3 copy of xbone at Eastgardens NSW.
    there are 2-3 copies left.
    this is the only game on xbone available in store.
    I have spotted a sniper elite 3 on PS4 but didn't buy it.
