  • THURS45 gets the pebble steel to $161.49 - very cheap price for it.

    EDIT: Possibly the cheapest ever?

    • Surely we are going to see further discounts on old Pebble since new one is out?

  • Not sure about the Steel but the one I am posting is not as cheap as this deal last month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195840 but cheap enough, still a bargain for smartwatch that works with both Android and iOS
I bought mine last year for $79, I believe that is the cheapest but I haven't seen one below $80 since then though. $85 is still a good price for it.

I just received my new Pebble Time (colour screen) watch and it is amazing. At about 4pm I received an alert on my screen saying "Rain in 60 min".

    And it did!

And I hadn't set anything other than a regular setup of the watch. Amazing -

What I'm saying is that the new Pebble Time is great (inc colour screen) - so buy one of these older ones knowing that there is significantly newer (better?) out there. I was an initial buyer of the original Pebble and LOVED it to bits - does EVERYTHING a smart watch should do without trying to replace your phone altogether like the Samsung and Apple watches.

    /end rant

PS - if you want to play with a smart watch for the first time (esp one that plays well with Apple AND Android systems) - the $85 deal is fantastic!

Old pebble is supposed to be getting the new Timeline OS v3 at some point this year. So much of the Pebble Time goodness will be available (excepting colour, microphone, etc.)

      • thanks for that :) (my 8 yr old inherited my original pebble so she'll be delighted!)

        • your 8yr old carries a smartphone to go along with it? Am considering passing mine down to my 12 year old but am not keen to let him have a smartphone too.

@bfg100k: Would still be a good watch with customisable faces (through parents phone) without a smart phone connected.

        • @deal88: Would still be a good watch with customisable faces (through parents phone) without a smart phone connected.

          That's how we're rollin

    • Still waiting on my Pebble Time. I think i will continue to use my standard pebble when i am working and may scratch it, keep my Time looking new.

    • This website seems to rate pebble time poorly

      http://www.zdnet.com/article/pebble-time-first-likely-last-i…

Do you experience any problem like:
      -Screen is not bright enough
      -Limited notification info
      -Not receiving notification

I really wanted to buy the pebble time but seeing this review really hold me back

      • Yet they still rate it a 7.8/10

      • I've had both the original pebble and the kickstarter Pebble Time, I have also been using apple watch the last 3-4 weeks or so.
I think its a real balance what you are willing to give up battery life, for functionality.

With the pebble time I found the colours are not contrasty enough.
Backlight not as bright as i'd expect.

Feels like it doesn't do much more than show you notifications compared to the apple watch. And Hey Siri.

It all feels a bit cheap and not quite finished/polished software wise compared to the apple watch.

        • So is it worth getting the new pebble time over the original pebble? To me the only new thing the pebble time has is the colour screen…..and a microphone which has a limited function for iOS user.

        • @notewar:
          Old Pebble vs New Pebble
You'll get a bit more battery life out of the new pebble.
Yes color screen vs mono, is certainly not vivid or contrasty enough.
The OS feels quicker than the original Pebble, the animations give that impression as well.
Pulling apps and watch faces from the phone instead of having to install them manually is so MUCH better than the old way.
And yes i've not found any benefit for the mic on iOS (probably more of an advantage on Android)

Honestly I can't feel like I can talk you into it or out of it.
It feels like if Original Pebble is v1.0 and Pebble Time should be Pebble V2.0, but it feels more like v1.5.

There are some valid reasons for an upgrade, but the screen and mic certainly aren't the points that i thought would win me over.

If you want a watch that is platform agnostic and has some decent battery life, pushes you some notifications. Pebble time is where it's at, but the apple watch has spoilt me for its integration.

Have you tested the micro phone of the pebble time with iOS device? The review said its good with android devices but not so with iOS and if that is the car then I might as well stick to my current pebble then paying the extra just for the colour.
I missed the kickstarted for the Time so will have to wait till it's available for sale instead if it works well with iOS

      • THIS!! But before it go on sale it would probably be like end of year = (

      • Pebble have always stated that they have had trouble getting approval from Apple to use the pebble Time microphone on iOS.
I don't this we can blame pebble for that. Would be a good feature but not essential.
Then you could pay $500+ and get this feature with an Apple watch.

When it comes to alerting, Mine wasn't as good as yours.. only gave 60sec notice.. "Wifey in Driveway, be quick!"

      • +1

mine tells me before she's around the corner. Maybe your reception is low

  • Code is invalid

  • be careful of screen tearing issues on the original pebble

    • Yeah I have had mine for a year and I get it occasionally. It appears to be only on hot or overly sunny days and if the watch is in direct sunlight for a while

  • This deal has 16 votes now and I still can't see it on the front page, where as some deals only have 12 votes and started to appear on the front page.
