    • I've been searching the net for just this, and so far come up blank. There is a K50-T5 Teana version that has a ceramic speaker, and the contacts on the back of the phone behind the cover are for this, but it seems unlikely that 5 contacts are needed for a speaker, so it's possible that the others are for wireless charging and/or NFC.

So far no luck or info. I have got a universal wireless charging pad which I will try just to see if the wireless charging docks I have can supply enough power, but it's not a good solution as it permanently takes up the micro usb port and would require modifying the case to make it sit flush.

If anyone finds some info, please post it here.

    • So I got a bit antsy and decided to try the universal wireless charging pad in a more permanent way.

Given that the "genuine" or as "close to genuine as to not be noticeable" back covers are cheap on alibaba express, I took a hobby knife to the micro usb port and opened it up to the size of the connector.

After testing the fit, I removed the sticker off the backside of the charging coil and the sticker off the inside of the case (not sure what this sticker does, presumably it's ferrite type block) and stuck the charging pad down permanently.

The results are not bad! There is a very slight bulge in the back cover which is not noticeable until you lay it on a flat surface. The micro usb plug sits flush and looks fine.

Charging is slower which was expected, but it works.

Of course the downside is you lose the micro usb port for traditional charging without removing the back cover, but I think I'll just buy a spare cover or two and leave one in the car.

    • Dude is that the aluminium case on eBay for $10? I bought the same silver one. Is it bulky? How does it feel on your hands when using it?

      • I'm pretty sure it would be the same one. I don't think there are too many different cases for this phone.

Considering how thin this phone is, it does seem bulky and it was not to my taste.

        • Alright, thanks.

        • Yes it is the same and its does look bulky compared to the silicon one I bought for $2.

  • Guys, which navigation application you guys use on this phone, I have Navfree at the moment. Sometimes it fails to find the address.

    • Here Maps

      • Sweet, thanks man

        • They work well too might I add! Loving the K3 action so far!!!

        • @spy: Yeah am loving it too, just waiting for the temper glass thing, hope its easy to put on.
I have that $2 plastic thin cover on it already. Only problem is the charging cable doesn't fit because of that cover,oh well.

        • @codename47: tempered glass - piece of cake.

        • @spy: Great! I'll let you know if I stuff it up haha

        • @codename47: you won't, and no bubbles either…

        • @spy: Are there any features that I should be aware of, I just turned on the gestures

        • @codename47: nah not really, pretty standard really. I like the pocket dial protection.

        • @spy: yeah that prevention screen ye?

        • +1

@spy: I've ordered another one as you posted the other day deal for $203 something

Hope it arrives soon ( 30-60days)

        • @codename47: was gonna do the same today but the price just got jacked up :(

        • @spy: oh no! not good. My mate wanted when I ordered( $169) I asked him to wait till I receive mine and when I received it I loved it but he complained about the jacked up price :p

        • @codename47: man I got my first one for $220, so….

        • @spy: Damn! I bought from jd and I just took the risk after that chick from jd confirmed that it's frequencies.

        • @codename47: good risk :)

    • I ordered mine on 22nd June. It finally arrived today. Outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. There was no change to my tracking details since the 22nd July. Hopefully yours won't be far away.

  • +2

mine arrived couple of days back…beautiful phone…Totally worth buying it and JD was always there to update when I asked questions….Cant get anywhere in the world this price and I hope more people get tuned into good phones like this….not sure why people spend 300+on phones anymore. Why buy ridiculously priced HTC, apple,??

Not very sure whether I want to root it…didnt find too much crap on the phone yet and its working perfectly…

why to root? can someone put in point form please

Thanks lots to everyone for great ideas, discussions, regular updates and ozbargain you guys rocks…

JD.com…we will come back again…Thanks for treating us good…

    • Having problem with Hotspot here. It's not stable and always dropped out after a few minutes of tethering.

  • Having problem with Hotspot here. It's not stable and always dropped out after a few minutes of tethering. Anyone having trouble with the ROW Rom?

    • hey man, mine works perfect. I used this as a hotspot and used data on my lg g3 and worked properly no issues. You sure it's phone and not network ?

      • Might be the network but I was using Hauwei Y550 and it works fine with the PS4 however with the K3 Note I get disconnected after a few minutes of tethering. Not sure why.

        • I'll try again after I go home and report you !

        • @codename47:

Alright man, BTW what rom are you using? I'm on the latest ROW rom.

        • @HandsomeMonkey: hey man, I checked the hot spot works okay with my one. and I am using the latest ROW rom as well, I had received two OTA updates

        • @codename47:

          Ahh

Must be the location since I lived in remote NT. Might be the game that I am playing.

          Thanks for testing.

    • Did anyone get a new OTA update yesterday for 313mb? My data connection keeps dropping. I am running ROW rom. After I installed the ROW I received one OTA before and another one yesterday. Any one with similar issues???

      • Ive flashed Custom Recovery and rooted my phone so no OTA update for me. My phone is pretty stable right now on S117 with WiFi NVRam Error Fix and installed Xposed with memory leak fixed. I'll wait for a few days to see if the S121 is stable enough as I dont really want to install it and have problems occuring later on.

      • I got an update this morning 85MB and am not sure what changed, did anyone notice the sleep next to sound profile under drop down box or it was there before?
