A few good deals @ JD.com at the moment. This is my pick of the bunch, 5 inch, beefy front and rear camera, lots of frequencies to make many people happy, octacore and decent battery. I liked the redmi listed earlier today, but for $20 more you get better screen, more memory, better camera, similar battery, more processors, and TCL is one of the top 7 phone manufactures in china. I have spent a good bit of time translating through chinese websites and it seems some of this model has the sony exmor and some have samsung isocell camera - both pretty darn good. One site even said it has a metal frame.

    I have contacted them but only to say not received the phone yet but have clicked on the awaiting acceptance button which now says to them that I have received it. Have not had a response from JD but appear to have a response from an intermediary of some sort telling me they will get someone to get in touch.

    Looks like it's a firmware problem, there are three remedies:
    1. Refund
    2. Exchange a 3N model
    3. Keep the phone, register and wait for firmware update

      I emailed jd.com and they say Etstar Technology Co will email us shortly with the options for us. Thanks for finding the batch number. Hopefully we can check it when the box arrives. Anyone got one yet?

      Looking at the 3N model some bits are better some are worse. I figure with 30,000 affected units a firmware upgrade will come along soon. I've ordered the glass and case already too.

    I got a response from them. confirmed my order was part of the re-call and that etstar would be in contact with options. Also advised a way to get a direct refund if I preferred.

    Anyone got the email from etstar? I am leaning towards the straight refund from JD

      No email from etstar. Does it require you to return the phone before refund? Not sure how we can return the phone thru AusPost. If you use courier, the cost is almost the same as the phone itself.

    What do people think of the replacement the 3N? Bigger screen and it seems like better build quality, plus its the model up I believe but lower res screen, I'm here thinking might as well get it, its still a great phone in the end. Oh and this wait is agonising :D

    Got an email from them. Poor form as they included all our email addresses in the email. Blind Carbon Copy is there for a reason =).

    The offer for other phones listed seem pretty meh.

    I'm hoping we can get a full refund without having to post back. As someone else said here it would cost a fortune to post back and would be so much hassle.

    I appreciate their honesty though. Although I couldn't find the refund button? Only a way to send them a message. Will do so tomorrow I guess.

      That would be a good option. Especially if they release a firmware upgrade in the future. I have already ordered my accessories for this model.

      They say it can be fixed with a firmware update that is yet to be released. Do you think future ROMs would include that?

        If a firmware update could fix the issue I think they would roll it out and not recall.

        My guess is that to fix the jitter and overheat they have to underclock the CPU and maybe undervolt the RAM and GPU which would open them up to paypal significantly not as described claims.

    According to Etstar, it had shipped out on 30 Jun, how could this happen?

    Received email from some Russian "friends", they had a rant about the JD/Etstar for disclose their email addresses, and
    not happy about the options it provided. I totally agree with them, probably it will be my last shopping experience with JD!

    My order also got changed from 'Awaiting Acceptance ' to 'Awaiting Shipment'.

    Something fishy is going on, if it actually did ship on the 30th of June, it should have arrived by now. They must have been lying about the shipment of the phones.

      you can't "recall" mail.. it's not email! (you can't even recall email in 99% of the cases!)

          @corbz: I've had some stuff hang around in China for long times - more than a week. Mind you I got an Amazon package yesterday that had been Australia for 2 weeks before it got delivered. Was all squished too. 3 months ago I had another amazon order go into Australian customs (very detailed tracking) and just disappeared. Never did surface.

    The phones are most certainly being recalled. The seller offers to replace your order with a Lenovo or a Xiaomi but if you want to get your money back it looks like you have to email "postsales at jd dot com".
