HP 7 Plus G2 Tablet Now $69 @ Officeworks [LIMITED STOCK OR NO STOCK]

461

ahh all these EOFY toy deals!!

probably the cheapest branded tab that's quite reasonable, i especially like the thin bezel, thinner than the picture suggests and uncommon at this price point.

anyways you get your quadcore A33, 1GB ram IPS 1280x etc makes this really good budget tab and destroys all your pendo aldis DS coles etc but maybe not Chuwis.

title is correct, its HP 7 G2, not plus(has different spec), OW havent fixed it

Glad to see its out of stock in Perth. I don't need another tablet.

    • -4

If its in stock and do you REALLY need it?

      • +59

        You must be new here.

        • +2

Nobody really needs something to get a bargain here.

        • You can never have enough

        • -2

Lucky it uses a Li-on battery and not……drum roll ……..eneloops.

        • +2

Saving money by spending more than you would otherwise … sound strategy :p

  • +2

I think no store have stock.

    • 'Limited' in Highett, Chadstone, Elizabeth St.

    • Plugging in random postcodes, it says
      Warners Bay NSW - available
Auburn, Mona Vale and Old Guildford NSW - limited stock

      • +4

Limited stock most of the time = non or display unit.

        • Yeah, I'm skeptical they will have any but hey Warners Bay says Available

        • @deeevan: They do. It is still priced at $99. I ended up purchasing the LEnovo at $97.

  • the hp 10 plus is pretty cheap too btw, good price for FHD. it's good if you do some web browsing, emailing, light work, etc

    • +3

      Also not in stock anywhere.

  • +1

    Only running 4.2…

    • +2

Upgradeable to 4.4.2. I've got 3 on my desk gathering dust running kitkat ;)

  • +1

Out of stock in Central Queensland.

  • +2

anything that can reduce the amount of pendo pads in this world would be good.

  • +2

    LOL Allwinner chip…

  • +1

Is there any expectation that these will be available in the morning? All sites within reasonable drive say out of stock or limited please call. Is limited worth a punt (from others experience) or does it usually mean gone?

    • +4

Definitely call ahead. Having worked there, the limited stock will usually mean they have a faulty customer return on the system.

    • +4

One thing is for sure, I have been to OWs that showed 6 or more in stock on their internal systems and turned up and they had nothing for ages.

  • For those playing at home. 'Mitchell Park' is actually referred to as the 'Marion' store.

    • Is that in Australia?

      • Tasmania.

        • +7

          So no?

        • @astarman:
          Yeah, no.

  • No GPS chip ?

    • Did you check the specifications? Does say it has A-GPS. So this would make a decent GPS for use in car.

  • Rang Marion and Keswick stores in SA, none in the state, good luck in other states.

    • No stock in QLD either according to the stock checker.

Looks like perhaps bugger all stock in Australia.

  • No stock at altona north. the guy said that most stores just have faulty units.
What do people think about this as an alternative?

    • One is Android and the other is Windows, it comes down to which platform you want to use.

Personally I'm looking for a basic e-news reader and video player for my father in-law, I've already picked up a Lenovo for $97, I might end up getting another one.

You can't compare the two. I wouldn't get a Windows tablet even if it is under $50. Definitely it will gather dust on my desk.

    • The screens on those are terrible, well on my 7" at least. The IPS on this would be a lot nicer

      • They are terrible, but the tablet itself flies, and you can connect it to enough peripherals that it could replace a computer.

Mind you I plan to take one o/s, fully functioning pc in your pocket will mean I am ready for anything, and I can leave my laptop at home, and if it gets lost or racked I am not that fussed. The screen will also be a disincentive to spend too long on it :-)

    • Yeah sorry about my basic question, I will mainly be using for media consumption and a bit of browsing.
Anyone know what harvey norman is like with returns if it is a POS?
I would prefer Android but maybe windows would be a a not bad alternative.
Just looking for something cheap I can take to Europe, might look around for a second hand surface

For your purpose, I recommend Android tablets. Windows tablets are really good for office work (because Office on Windows is so much better) but they do need bit of work done on those areas you've mentioned. Windows was not made for touchscreen and high resolution to begin with, you end up relying on desktop programs which are not really built for touchscreens.

I personally recommend ASUS MeMO Pad 7 (ME572C). I know, it's a deal I've posted and I feel like I am self-promoting a little. That being said, this tablet is slight upgrade/almost on par to Nexus 7, 2013 (in terms of hardware). RAM and resolution stayed the same, but Intel Atom Z3560 Quad-Core is better than Snapdragon 600 in many areas and gets compared to Snapdragon 800 in some areas. It's fairly cheap for what it's offering (a high specced tablet compared to budget ones). Of course, using an Atom CPU, there can be some compatiability issues for some apps.

        • Windows 8 was made to use on touchscreens. It's just doesn't have as many apps.

Also this tablet's way more expensive than this HP, I wouldn't she'll out for this over the HP if I had a choice. Saying that it doesn't look like the HP is actually available

        • @Jackson: Windows was not made for touchscreen to begin with as in, Windows OS was not an OS that was built with touchscreen in mind to begin with, whereas Android and iOS were. That was what I meant. Hence why the desktop applications are awful to use with touchscreen and you often end up relying on a keyboard and a mouse/a stylus. If the metro apps were decent enough for people to not rely on desktop programs, it would be all good, but apps are just lacklustre at the moment as you've mentioned.

The tablet I've recommended is definitely more expensive, but it's far better than the budget tablets in terms of spec. If you go onto details, it's falls slightly short with tablet flagships, but overall spec is close to them.

  • Bought one of these earlier in the year for $129 from Officeworks to take on the plane for some trips. Pretty decent tablet if you don't need anything special. Great screen too.

  • Seems impossible to get… anyone got a suggestion for an alternative?

    • +1

I went to Warners Bay, & ended up buying the LEnovo. It seems to have a better battery life.

  • -4

So zero confirmed stock anywhere? Very little chance this meets the minimum stock requirement for posting. SNAFU for Officeworks.

    • -1

At least 2 have limited stock in Victoria…

      • Limited stock status really translates to no stock available for purchase.

You could bet there's no stock in VIC.

        • +1

I just tried the Elizabeth St Melb CBD store and got told they have only 1 faulty unit

      • you must be new here, Clear. Welcome.

        • Been around Ozbargain for 4 years ;)

As stated by MJM, they have stock, but it's 1 faulty unit ;)

  • +1

    Confirmed no stock in ACT.

  • +1

Warners Bay in NSW may be the only store in the whole of Australia that has any units in stock.

    • +1

I was there at 10AM and they still had stock.

  • +1

Out of stock at Warners Bay.

    • Then out of stock every where.

    • There was one on display when I was there today.

  • so this is true, officeworks never works.

  • Confirmed out of stock at West Ryde, North Ryde, Northmead, Auburn, and Alexandria.
Good deals never hang around long.
