I guess the free glasses promotion is finished. What a shame I only have Maccas like once a month if I'm lucky so only got one set. I like them as basic drinking glasses.

Weird post to neg… did people dislike me going to Maccas once a month or the fact I like the glasses? I didn't know people were so passionate about their Coke glasses. Lucky I didn't comment on the aesthetics, peoples head might have exploded lol
You know why they're now free?! They didn't bother giving them away when people bought the meals! Grrrr

That's the truth at my local Maccas. I've ordered 5 large meals and only received a glass on 2 occasions.
I got mine, just without a box on it.. I had to ask to receive one which was still in original packaging.
I mean, sure, I don't overly mind either way.. Though at the end of the day it is a collectors item and I did pay an extra ~$6-7 over my usual McDonalds lunch cost to get a large meal and receive the glass, I want it in actual packaging.You would've been better off just getting your usual and then adding the glass to it for $2.
Do I have to get out of my car for these free glasses or can I go through drive through?….LOL.

I got mine but was disappointed. I thought they'd make everyone look like hot 20-somethings that have nothing more important to do with their lives than play with a giant beach ball. Unfortunately they made everyone look obese and diabetic ;-)

I found one the other day someone didn't take home at maccas, they are horrible glasses, such a waste of space, I put it in the cupboard but the size and shape is not good and I will probably dispose of it.
So you took it home to throw in the bin?
Why didn't you just do what the original owner do and leave it for someone who wants it.
Well, I didn't realise it was so crap until I got it home and opened it.
Only 1 side of the box is covered. You can easily see/feel the glass without opening the box..

Even if it says "dishwasher safe" it isn't. Such thin glass breaks incredibly easy. I guess free does not equal good :P

Not true at all. My brother collects these glasses from McDonalds when the promo comes up, and we have lots over the years. We have some of the Beijing ones as well as the Brazil ones, and the London ones. We also have some thinner coloured ones which I forget what it was for (Commonwealth Games maybe) He also has some plain ones which he got from McDonalds like 15 years ago, they were like the first promo they ever did. They are all really great quality actually, are used constantly, put in the dishwasher, etc. I myself use them ALL the time, as my regular soda glass around the house.
They are holding up incredibly well, have never shattered or broken except when someone has accidentally dropped them onto our hard tiled floor. No wear and tear from the dishwasher, either. We have been getting these ones too and they are a very similar build quality, which is to say very good. I'm actually really surprised yours has broken.

Its not every store btw. The promo is finishing and some stores have excess stock. Store to store basis.

Edit: SA. Store is franchised though, they may be free elsewhere in the state.. The owner here is known for being quite avoidant of standard promotions, despite the fact I'm fairly positive they would be required to offer most the promotions under their franchisee license.
You can buy a glass for $2 or you get one for free if you purchase a large meal.
That's correct, though they even avoided that a bit here.. It's only a few more expensive large meals which come with the glass.. The ones which total easily $10-15 for the meal. My usual cheese burger meal doesn't cut it, even when I do go to a large from my usual medium/small.

Is it really finishing? My local was only up to 1994 yesterday and were going through each era systematically (they usually take four-five days to run out of glasses for each era ie. 1899, 1904). I'm going to end up with about 8 1904 glasses and no recent ones :( I went to maccas at a different place tonight (Monday) and they told me that each store was different and some were still going with the promotion (like my local fingers crossed), some were winding up the promotion (like this store in brookie) while some had run out of stock over a week ago (like the store I went to tonight).
Yeah, you'd think the stores would have a good idea how they're tracking with them given that each glass should be available for 4-5 days to finish them all in the promotion period.
Ten days ago, most stores I visited were still on 1955, which showed they were falling behind, but Darling Harbour had 1994 instead. Went to check on the weekend and every single store were still doing 1994 with only three days left.
Got my 2015 ones yesterday and I'm glad it's over and done with.
I'm after the 1904 & the 1955…. By the time i got back to my local maccas they had already sold out of those 2 years so i'm 2 short now of my full set of 6 :(

I hate these glasses. They shatter very easily when hand cleaning, and are slightly too tall to fit in a standard dishwasher.
