    This is called entrapment ;p

    • +4

      care to elaborate?

      • +1

No it's not, this is pre-paid for 1 month. Once you set up your account with Amaysim you can go into the Payment Method section & change it to Bpay, problem solved.

        • Fully agree.

  • +2

Ive always felt these should not be allowed to be called deals unless its for the life of the plan. Like my Virgin 2GB bonus data from about 10 years ago :P

    • So you can't think of any situation where this may be a deal for someone?

      • Possibly for a tourist who wants a month of data?
Its situational, but as a generalization, no.

Lets say you port your number, and you're there for…. say…..2 years; your average mobile phone refresh period.

        24 x 54.90 = $1317.60

        (1 month at $19) plus
        23 x 54.90 = $1281.70

there's no argument that its going to be cheaper, you've saved a bit in the first month.

But 1/24th of the life of the product being cheaper? It's like listing a discount applied to a single banana in a bunch. Its there, but is it worth it?

Well I guess thats your call to make, just like for me, its my call. hence why its a public forum.

There's nothing to say you've to stay with them after the first month (there's no contract and they don't even make you pay for the SIM card). For those who are cost concious (& not on a good value legacy plan) and don't mind the hassle of churning through the networks, this represents some real savings.

        • The life of this purchase is 1 month, not 2 years.

        • @Love a bargain:

Which is a fair point, just be sure to account the new sim cost and possible 'bond' payments when you move to another larger network afterward.

You might find your USUAL $20 a month plan costs $40 this month.
          Just be cautious

        • @luke73:

For you, OK. That wont be the case for everyone. Which is the point im making.

        • @MasterScythe: No sure where you got your info from but Amaysim doesn't charge you for the SIM card (if you order one online) and doesn't ask for any deposit.

        • @Love a bargain:

No amaysim dont, but who knows who my usual person is I have to churn away from to get this one month.

Nevermind anyway, on with life, enjoy your 'bargain'

Well they do have a trick for entrapment but its also got an easy way out:

    Entrapment:
At the time of sign up they will only give you the option for Auto Renewal (via entering Credit card details etc) so that they can Auto Renew as most people will forget to cancel in time..

    Way Out:
Once your account is set up, log in to your account and in the payment or similar option select vouchers as your source for renenwals.. thats it..

I have been through the whole cycle myself so talking from personal experience..

    From the website;

Note that service will auto-renew on a monthly basis after your voucher finishes at $44.90 per month (5GB), $54.90 per month (7GB). If you do not wish to continue your amaysim service it must be cancelled according to the instructions outlined at www.amaysim.com.au/terms-conditions.html

Its easy enough to stop the monthly renewal of the plan through the profile settings on their website. I bought a $20 prepaid and was able to just get one month (I didnt need anything else) and just stopped the auto-renew.

Not bad for a cheap month of data though.

  • how long is the voucher valid for as I plan to get the vodafone $5 sim for one month and then port across to amaysim with this voucher?

    • You must redeem the voucher on Amaysim website to order a sim card by 7 August 2015

      • thanks veer

        • I bought about 7* $5 Vodafone Sim cards from Kmart last night and will be using $2 Telstra Sim to port back to Vodafone for next 7 months. But if you need unlimited calls Amaysim offer is best. I bought Vodafone Sims for my wife, as she doesn't need unlimited plan

    No tethering :(

    • seriously? Man.. you saved me.. I was about to get it just for that reason..

      • +1

        You can tether on amaysim.

        WiFi hotspot your phone……

    • +1

      What? Theres tethering…

If it doesnt work on an iPhone, SMS TETHER to 568. Androids will work normally.

      • +1

        It does too…

        From The Website:

If you use an iPhone, Android or other smartphone, you’re free to tether or use your mobile device as a personal hotspot with the included data in FLEXI, UNLIMITED TEXT 2GB, UNLIMITED 5GB, UNLIMITED 7GB and any of our Data Packs.
AS YOU GO customers will be charged at the casual rate of 7.2c/MB when they tether.

  • Can anyone confirm if there is no tethering?

    • Theres tethering. I used it to tether last night on my iP6+.

    • Always has been

  • -1

    IMO Not the best deal.

    SAVEBIG = $19.90 first month.

    Reffer a friend code = $10 credit

    = $9.90 first month

Thats for ANY plan too IIRC, not just 5GB or such.

  • Can this voucher be stacked on top of the 3month groupon deal from about a month or so ago?

    • No
