Misleading title. Makes it sound like you get a free gift card just for applying.

    • +3

Well, all the condition states is that you have to apply for the card and make an eligible purchase (doesn't specify a minimum spend) so I'd still think it's a good deal.

      T&C Clause 1:
$150 Woolworths Gift Card offer available to new primary cardholders who apply for a Woolworths Money Everyday Platinum Credit Card between 12:01am AEST 1 June 2015 and 11:59pm AEST 31 July 2015, are approved and make an eligible purchase on their Woolworths Money Credit Card by 11:59pm AEDT 30 September 2015. The $150 Woolworths Gift Card will be sent within 8 weeks of the eligible purchase, provided that you are not in breach of your account Conditions of Use and your account remains open. Eligible purchases excludes business expenses, special promotions (including interest free promotions and balance transfers), transactions for gambling purposes, cash advances and cash substitutes. Gift Card terms and conditions apply Visit everydaygiftcards.com.au for details.

I'm not saying it's a bad deal (or a good deal). All I'm saying is that the title is misleading.

You have to be approved and make a purchase. You don't just get the gift card by simply submitting an application.

You have just reinforced that fact.

        • +2

Agreed, the headline is clickbait. Please fix.

        • -8

lol you clicked onto it thinking you'd get one for just submitting an application? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

        • +4

@mattlol: Yes and it wouldn't have been the first time I got a free gift card from a deal posted here.

    • This is not dupe.. A$150 instead of $100.. Read carefully

  • I am totally confused … is it $100 or $150 …

    • Maybe $10 discount on every $100 spend until you reach $150 discount. Even more confused ? Good !

      • lol

I applied for the card while commuting to work .. and now I find its $150 off instead of $100 .. I am going to dispute with Woolies if they give me just $100 gift card

        • website shows $100 gift card??

  • +5

Can we use it for few months and cancel it ?
Dont want to pay annual fee after one year

    • +21

the ozbargain community would be disappointed if you didn't

  • +1

Does the $10 off work with click & collect?

Also I had a woolworths qantas card a few years ago, do I still get this offer? Can't see anything in the T&c's so I assume I am ok.

  • -1

This offer is only valid when you pay for the purchase at the online checkout with your Woolworths Money Everyday Platinum Credit Card. Delivery charges apply. SO YOU NEED TO BUY ONLINE AND PAY DELIVERY FEES TO BE ELIGIBLE TO GET $150, 😡 nahhhhhh

    • +1

I think that relates to the terms above it. Because it is referring to discount from Cellamasters.

      • +1 I believe this is true, anyway even if you had to make a purchase online and pay for delivery, your still getting a $150 gift voucher which means your still way on top in terms of a FREEBIE

My credit card application was declined without giving any real reason. My credit history has been spotless and my earning and expense ratio is quite good.

I have other credit cards approved without any drama.

I am wondering whether it has happened to anyone else too.

    • +2

Thanks for letting us know. I'll pass then.

      • +3

Same here. Never before rejected for credit, 0 debt, +100k income, chose minimum credit amount, net worth close to half a mil. Seems like Macquarie bank is behind this card, maybe thats why… Has anyone actually managed to obtain it? Im also permanent full time…

Called them and asked them why was I rejected, they said they could not disclose.

        • +8

You're probably too good for them, if you don't look like you're struggling, they don't get the impression they'll make money off you via interest haha

        • +4

You are a "transactor" like most of the people on ozbargain. They don't make money off you.

          http://www.smh.com.au/comment/australians-struggling-with-cr…

        • +1

So far I have not been aware of any bank categorizing potential customers and admitting them on that bases. They have merely determined whether you qualify or not for it, that is whether you would be able to pay back.
First time I hear about estimating a profit from a potential customer. I work in a bank btw.

        • they only want ppl with $20,000PA, try keyin $20000

        • Once you get rejected you cannot re-apply within 6 months. Nevertheless, giving false information is not recommended.

        • Oh it's MacBank based, forgot it then. Those clowns will find some way to extort money from you.
They probably have a pay on time fee

        • +1

Same for me inspite of having a spotless credit history and 100k+ income they rejected me without any reason.

        • @noskich: Why do you say that? I always give a lower salary.

        • Ridiculous. Same problem here.

I've called up, and the lady asked for all the information again, as if starting a new application, and requested I email them payslips (which I had already uploaded online).

She said it will take a few business days for them to re-assess my application.

They really don't have any reason to reject my application, as they have approved my wife, and she earns a bit less than I do, other than that, we have the same outgoings.

If they reject it for a 2nd time, I will contact the financial services ombudsman and see if they can do anything about it. Even if they don't at least they've gotten a complaint about them.

    • +1

They tracked your click thru's like Harvey Norman does…

      • How? Tracked the trace from Oz Bargain?

        • +1

Not sure how, or if done anymore, but HN were infamous on here for a popup saying on the HN site "Hello Ozbargainer - Need any advice, talk to a Harvey Norman expert now." when you clicked from OZb to HN.

        • @rawm: RefControl for firefox is good for hiding that stuff.

        • when you visit a website they can see which page you came from.

Care to disclose more info? Got any debt, other credit cards, what is approximate income level, employment status? Thanks.

        • +3

home loan 500K+ debt, 4-5 credit cards - 1 main + rest for one-off points/gift cards, never pay CC interest, >100K income, employed full time.

        • +2

I guess it is either your debt, or I have been applying for these deals too many times. Maybe I should slow down…

      • How quick did they respond after you lodged your application ?

        • +1

It took around 7-10 days in total

        • @JChrist:
          Okay thanks for the reply.

    • Hi himchar, it happened to me too. I am going to get a free credit report(if you have been declined) from www.mycreditfile.com.au to find out why. I filled the application form in at Woolies and was going to send more info etc but didn't get around to it, so they processed my application automatically. I am going to complain to Woolies money too. I think it maybe because I had $12,000 limit with no balance mind you(reduced it now!) on another card and $4,000 on another. Anyway, it's not good to be declined for credit. Cheers

      • thanks for your reply, I am also getting this credit report now. I have already complained to woolies they wrote back to me to get the free credit report.

I have a novated lease with Macquarie bank for an expensive car. They should have had considered that. Well I wait for this credit report. I am not sure what I am going to do with this.

    • maybe you've applied for credit recently.

that's the biggest factor for me getting rejected.

      constantly applying for OzB cards

      • As mentioned above, it is either too many applications at any one time or no existing debt. As a person who has no existing debt you are unlikely to be a source of profit. You will not transfer your debt to the new card or pay hefty fees and interest. It makes sense that they reject this type of people who are only a source of cost and not profit (like support fees, postage, bank liability to credit you are not using etc.).

And the worst case would probably be the combination of the two, someone applying for as much credit as possible only to squeeze as many benefits as possible without incurring any fees or interest. I am an exactly that kind of a customer and if they really did manage to identify me that`s it.
In the future it is likely that my type will be automatically disqualified for any nice offers.

  • +1

just not prefer another record on credit file.

    • my credit file is as thick as a phone book; don't have a probably getting loans and more cards.

  • +1

This was a good credit card until they limited the amount of Qantas FF points you earn per month

    • can you even earn qff anymore, the card is confusing, but looks like you get other points now

  • still trying to figure why you can't apply, get the gift card ($100/$150 not sure what yet) and cancel out before end of year 1?

    • +4

I am still trying to figure out why you're still trying to figure that out.
Because I just assumed you could close the account after you get the gift card.

  • +2

    1) Apply successfully
    2) Buy ChupaChup
    3) Get $150.00 Card in mail
    4) Pay the Chupa Chup debt
    5) Close account
    ?
Cant see the negatives here apart from CC rating (which means very little these days it appears).

  • How long did it take all of your to receive feedback on whether your application was accepted or not?

  • $150 website doesn't look legit… rather looks like a phishing site

    • +2

both take you to the same website when you click apply.
the difference is the last offer code, this one is from $150
      A325447

      • Yep, noticed that.
If it is not a legit site… they may benefit from someone using that promo code, or they might swap the link to a phishing site later on…

Why does the op keep putting an A before the $ ???

This is an Australian offer from an Australian company, there's no possible other currency involved here except AUD.

Short version: it looks stupid and is incorrect and possibly misleading to some out of towners…

    End rant

    • +2

maybe she wants it to looks cute as her name is cuteduck

  • The balance transfer T&C says, you will not be eligible for interest free periods until the balance transfer amount is paid in full. Does this mean interest will be charged on normal purchases even if you pay by the due date?

    • +1

yes… its common practice once you have BT then put the card in the drawer until you paid off, then call to confirm when you can use the 55 days interest free period again (each CC can have slightly different policy of when).

  • So my understanding is, in order to get the $150 voucher, we will have to make a purchase once we get the card. However, making a purchase means we won't be liable for the BT offer since you're not allowed to spend on your card if it has a BT on it (well you can spend, but will be charged interest immediately, which I don't want).

  • Website seems to have some incorrect validation info - says "Your Everyday Rewards membership number should be a 13 digit number beginning with 9344" however my card starts 9353! Have just had to leave it blank.

  • +2

Did anyone get the platinum card? I was rejected but got The Money Everyday card

    • Yes I got approved for it. Does it matter? Just going to cancel it anyway.

      • Isn't the offer only for the Platinum card ?
ie. not for the Money Everyday card ?

    • This happened to me. But I'm looking at the T&Cs.

"$150 Woolworths Gift Card offer available to new primary cardholders who apply for a Woolworths Money Everyday Platinum Credit Card between 12:01am AEST 1 June 2015 and 11:59pm AEST 31 July 2015, are approved and make an eligible purchase on their Woolworths Money Credit Card by 11:59pm AEDT 30 September 2015. Gift Card terms and conditions apply Visit everydaygiftcards.com.au for details."

There is mentioned of applying for the Platinum but it just says you have to get approved - no mentioned specifically of getting approved for the Platinum card. And then again regarding the purchase is not specific about spending on the platinum card.

From what I can see (there's no area of the website that gives specific details of the everyday money card, just the platinum) the only different is that platinum cards have a minimum of $6000 limit and that comes with a few extra features.

    • Can you please call them and ask if you get the gift card as well? And how much…

      • +3

Can you please call them and ask if you get the gift card as well? And how much…

    • Same happened to me.
So is there any point going ahead and activating the card?

Will we still get the gift card or not?

      • Wife called, the lady on the phone didn't know what was going on and had to check, but after long waits, ect. She was told she would get the $150 after 8 weeks from the first purchase.

*Guess we will all find out in 8 weeks time :$

  • Haven't heard anything back from them yet - applied a week ago.

  • +1

so anyone confirm they will or already received $150 GC?

  • The offer is only for the Platinum card but I was rejected for that and they sent me the Money Everyday card which I didn't want!

  • Anyone hear anything yet after applying?!?

    • Yes, got rejected via a letter and not email. My first credit card rejection after applying for close to 15 in the last two years, I have closed several of them after getting the benefit but still have a fair few active.

I have a healthy savings and don't have much debt except two balance transfer and have enough assets.

      • +1

Interesting - thanks for reply! Seems like the applications are very strict, which is hugely misrepresented in the image of the woman in the checkouts with the card - they should've used this woman, carrying 4 gucci handbags http://imgur.com/rAZHwcF

      • same here. good credit standing but only open for the bonuses.

        maybe they are catching on.

        • Probably, I tried to talk to their accounts department but they would not talk and discuss the reason for rejection.

        • @nadan:

admittedly I did rush the application and also do have a number of active credit cards.

        • @thydzik:

That shouldn't be an issue if you can service the number of active credit cards you have, but then again if you and I pay our balance on time and don't contribute towards the banks hefty profits, why should they give us cards :)

Most OB make money from these cards so they aren't the favorite customers.

    • Just got yet another phone call asking for another tax assessment (2013, already sent 2014).
I own my home, no mortgage, no debt, substantial investments, one existing credit card $500 limit, no credit faults ever.
Realise they have to be careful, but still …..

  • so its it $100 or $150?
i can see links for both and cant tell what the difference is

did anyone get their WW wish cards yet?

  • That was by far the ugliest online application form I have ever seen.

  • so what is the "Conditions of Use" and what is an "eligible purchase"?

    • +1

They're not very clear, but I assume they mean everything other than this: "Eligible purchases excludes business expenses, special promotions (including interest free promotions and balance transfers), transactions for gambling purposes, cash advances and cash substitutes."

  • Got an email saying I was approved for "Woolworths Money Everyday Credit Card"
    No mention of platinum.
    But no refusal either.
Rang them to check whether I would still get the gift card.
First guy said it was a targeted offer, by email invitation.
Second lady said I would still get the card and even gave me the offer code on my account.
    I still remain hopeful.

  • 1 credit card active, good salary, good credit history. 2 phone calls and then rejection. Now to veda to get my credit file out. I should have listened to others. Woolies never again.

    • +2

Maquarie group is what we need to stay away from.

Well I just received an email with a $150 egiftcard. Now I cancel the card right?

Living it up at Woolies for dinner tonight. Just when they clear out stock from this weeks sales and nothing for the next period if marked down yet.

I should add I was one of the ones who got accepted for the everyday card not the platinum one.

    • please put more details like when did you apply, and then at what date you get call, what date you get email confirmation (accepted everyday card)?, get the card, get the egiftcard?

    • I wonder if the card is actually good to keep? :) Eg how do its rewards points compare with citibank signature.

    • I just received an email with a $150 egiftcard..
got accepted for the everyday card not the platinum one

Thanks, best news I've heard all day.

    • damn, I just received my email $150 gift card too.
Can use it at Masters too - sweet.

      • Woohoo!
