Nicee, to answer your original question, its specialist is for hard floor, it can do like flat carpet but probably not a good job on anymore thicker carpet.
Depends how big your house it.. Probably recommend not to use it as a replacement vacuum (unless you have a small house or just use it to clean bits and pieces).

These small vacuums are really handy for like apartments or townhouses.( 20 minute battery life)
The dc54 is really good for big houses and pets etc..

If you have a small place these can definitely substitute as a vacuum and are very handy. Got mine a few months ago and use it a lot but if you have a larger place definitely worth considering alternatives unless you need a top of the line dust buster.
The motor head on the fluffy is designed for hard floors.
Be careful it only comes with the fluffy motorhead not the carbon one for carpet. For some this might make it a bad deal.

These hand vacs are awesome, especially for quick cleaning. I have a 5 bedroom house with 2 lounges and the Dyson Handstick has replaced our normal vacuum. It is just so simple and fast to use that you can do a few rooms and then do something else. We never do a whole house vacuum any more.
ie. Smaller areas done more often. We have found that this is way more convenient.
That is a great price for the fluffy, but would be only good on floorboards, tiles and vinyl. No good on carpet.
