        • +4

that is what I thought… Duck Smuth

  • +1

Apple is already 10% off + further 5% apple mac
Op fix title please and your spelling!! :)

  • +1

Can probably also combine with the 10% extra value on dick Smith gift cards from coles.

  • thanks op! nice find!!

  • good luck with fininding stock you want to buy, such as iMac 5K

    • They haven't had stock of the iMac 5K for weeks. I don't know why it's listed.

    • Of course they don't stock the higher end retinas!

      • Of course they don't stock the higher end retinas!

Dick Smith in DJs does and will price match regular Dick Smith. I just went to DJs Bondi and got a price match.

        • Did they price matched 15%?
Did you order the model DS doesn't have?

        • @SickDmith:

the plus 5% was online only, (so no) but they did match the 10% discount and they do have the iMac 5K.

        • @Bellyup:
          Thanks.

  • +2

I'm confused… I understand how dick smith has 10% off macs right now, plus a further 5% off using MAC5 code… how/where do you get this coles dick smith gift card for 10%?? You buy them from coles?

    • +1

You just buy a gift card from coles as per usual and then you get an extra 10% on it. Eg; $100 gift card gets you $110 to spend. Then you just go in store or online and use it.

      • Right… and your buying a Dick Smith branded gift card right?
Is there a limit on how many of these you can buy? They come in big denominations?

        • +1

          That's correct.

There shouldn't be it doesn't state a limit.

My store had gift cards for: $25 , $50 & $100 so you will need to buy a few if your planning on using them with this deal

        • @TheVoucherKing:

          Got it… thx for confirming!

Edit… had a thought… i know you can earn FF points depending on credit card used for voucher purchase at coles.. do you earn Flybuys points for vouchers purchased as well?

        • @ezza:

          Great & No worries! :)

I was thinking the same thing. Going to try using my flybuys card when purchasing some gift cards tomorrow so will see what happens I guess

        • @TheVoucherKing:
Is DS extra 5% off Macs gonna be on tomorrow?

  • +8

Looks like we have Sale - but no one can buy anything reasonable?

  • I don't get why people are saying that there's 10% extra credit at Coles? Isn't that deal long expired…

      • Hm yeah not sure. I work at Coles and it's probably the fact that we have no stock of these since the first promotion that's led me to believe that it's expired. Thanks mate.

  • If my math is any good, 10% off + further 5% off then using 10% gift card =/= 25% off original price

    • You are correct. It would be 23.05% off.

      • +6

I worked it out to be 22.27%

        • Yeah you're right. Didn't realise the gift card was a bonus 10%, thought it was 10% off.

        • You sure? I have it as 22.735%

You pay 85% (after 10% + 5% discount) of ticket price with Coles Dick Smith gift card.

Coles DS card purchased at 9.1% discount to total face value.

9.1% of 85% relative to ticket price is 7.735% discount

          Therefore: 10% + 5% + 7.735% = 22.735% off ticket price

        • @rokufan:

          It should be

          (1 - (0.9 * 0.95 * (10 / 11)) * 100% = 22.27%

You should take 5% off the 10% off item. Get it?

          The title should be

          Apple 10% * 5% off for MAC @ dick smith …

for those who reads it literally.

        • @charles.gan:

I see, I misread offer. They've taken the extra 5% off the already 10% reduced price.

Thanks Charles for clearing that up. Thought my maths was slipping. I was right if extra 5% was off ticket price.

    • -1

Nope. Interesting though. You'll essentially get 28.65% discount at best. Because 10% gift card is added extra value. So say You paid $100 total that gives you a $110 gift card in turn an allowance purchase of $128 Apple product with DS discount. 28.65% off Apple is not too shabby.

      • That's 21.875% discount

      • +1

I take that back. 22.27% is right,

        Messed up the percentages. MB

  • My Macbook pro is getting a bit long in the tooth, it's more than 4 year old. I am quite tempted by this offer but on the other hand i might be able to get 6 more months out of it. Decision Decisions

    • +3

If it were me, I'd stock up the gift cards and wait for skylake.

  • Can we use the gift card with this? Someone pls comment I am getting desperate sorry

    • +2

Yes, just enter it on checkout you should be able to use as many gift cards as you want. Just add gift card number and pin and repeat for as many gift cards as you have.

      • +1

        Thanks. Off to Coles

  • Err, it's not 25% off - it'll be 23.05% off all up if my maths is right.

  • -4

I got last week's 10+7% discount just in time. You snooze you loose guys. Better get it quick.

  • When is Mac5 and Coles' 10% gift cards sales finished?

    • I would say MAC5 will finish tonight & as for Coles gift cards that should end on the 30th (Tuesday)

  • No cashback/rewards? Shame…

  • Anything decent to get though? No stock for anything worth buying

  • Question about platinum credit card extended warranty - Does it cover products purchased through gift cards? (Gift cards purchased using platinum card, of course)

    • +1

Once you buy Mac using those gift cards, It also covers anything you buy using the Mac. Lol.

      • +1

LOL, no, serious question. How to get platinum CC extended warranty through this deal?

        • +1

Buy it using the credit card. Cards don't honour it even if you go via PayPal so the only way is to go via the actual card.

  • +5

10% extra gift card is only 9.09% off not 10%. And you can't just add the percentages together, they have to be multiplied. Please fix your maths OP.

By your calculations, if the coles gift card offer was 100% extra (matched dollar for dollar) that would mean your getting 100% off, when you are actually getting 50% off, so it doesn't work like that.

So in reality you are only getting 22.2% off the normal price, please don't exaggerate the saving as it makes people think they are getting a bigger saving than they actually are.

  • +5

So excited… My first ever Macbook, just bought the Macbook pro with retina display

also 9.95$ shipping charges if no click and collect available (mainly none in Brisbane area)

    • Did you buy the 128GB version? I wanted bigger SSD but as usual its "out of stock". If you did buy the 128, do you think that should be enough?

      • Ya 128GB. Hope so. Can use the HDs I bought thru OB.. Ha ha

      • Depending on what you need it for, 128 GB will be plenty. If you need the extra space, you can always buy an external hard drive.

        • Thanks. i was thinking to maybe get that $77(20% ebay deal) 128GB micro sdcard and use it with adapter .

        • @mommu: you can do that but don't expect the speed to be anywhere near decent mark.

  • Anyone know if the macbook air dick has are the new generation macbooks?

  • I don't see any 10% off on Dick's page. Are those prices already discounted 10% off?

    • I think they are. Haven't checked others, but Macbook definetely is.

    • Yep

  • I noticed DSE discounts are on here quite often. Hmmm.

No stock ! dick always does that

  • Nice one. Perfect timing as I was looking to get a Macbook Pro. Shame none available for pickup, only delivery (Melbourne). But seriously, saved a whole bunch because of this!

Also, registered an account just to say good work!!

  • Any bargains?

    • hi JV

      • +2

Apple are not exactly known for their cheap products.

If I could get a decent MacBook Air for around $600-$700 then maybe I'd change my mind. Been working in IT for 16 years and when I'm spending my own money, it's not on Apple products. Not good value unless you want status with your bling.

I realise I'll probably get flamed on a deal like this but people pay a very high price for this name tag.

  • OP failed maths

  • Any new Macbook 12" on special?

    • Nope. Even though they advertise it

    • I noticed it wasn't there either…

  • Too bad no Mac pro. Otherwise I'll be very tempted to get on to this and even time a flight out of the country to claim the GST.

  • +1

No imac in stock what soever, DS is being a DK

  • +2

Just got a Macbook Pro with Retina display (128 GB) for a whooping $1408.09 (inclusive of delivery)! :)

Am happy enough, but would be ecstatic once I get my GST refund from the airport.

    THANKS OP!

  • Very hard to get DS gift cards at the moment. Went to a couple of Coles and none has it.

  • +1

Just got the base MacBook Air 13" spent $1096. Dick Smith gift cards worked almost immediately (5 minutes) after purchase from Coles. Thanks OP.

  • +1

    Seriously sick of their bullshit…

  • +1

    WTF.
I purchased the gift card from coles. And I put the macbook into the cart, and I can apply the code MAC5.
Then I try to make the payment, but I notice the price is changed back to normal price. The MAC5 is invalid!!!!!

Disk smith are you kidding me?

    • +1

Any I found that the 10% off price is higher than JB hifi price or David jones price…
For DJ, you can use 10% off gift card. And also you can get another 7% from cash reward..
For JB HIFI, you can get 7.5% gift card from many places…

The price of DS is not as good as expected…
For now, I have no idea about the $1500 DS gift card….WTF…

  • MAC5 expired??

  • I just tried. but website said "Coupon code "MAC5" is not valid.". Is this coupon expired?

  • original email sent out said limited to first 150 customers…op hasn't included that in his post

    maybe it has expired then

  • Coupon code " MAC5" is not valid.

  • -2

Extra 10% with DS Gifts Cards is not valid as well. No such deal at Coles.

  • looks expired :(
