Black is cheaper at $8.45 USD

  • Is this any good? It sounds useful when travelling and staying in hotels where you get free wifi but only 1 device can connect at a time

    • This is an excellent question, what exactly is this thing for? Crazy cheap

      • It's meant for those without a router. I've got nowhere in my desktop to plug this in, and my desktop would need to be on at all times to share the internet. It's a ghetto router basically.

        • Yeah needs a PC with wifi card? Very ghetto, cheers dude. I interpreted it as something else.

  • Works out to be around $11.45 AUD if paying with paypal

For those who do not need the 8GB of inbuilt storage, this one is about $3 USD cheaper.

Will this work on a work pc? Hrmmmm

  • So if I was on a work laptop and work network . could I plug this into said device and then use a personal laptop to utilise the internet ? Does any software need to be installed (as this wouldn't work then)

    • The first point I would make is that breaking IT Policies at work could be a sackable offence. You are likely to find that IT are monitoring the network and will quickly detect unauthorised devices.

Having warned you, I would expect that it does require software to work as it would need to change the routing tables on your PC. This youtube video shows downloading and installing software.

For those who are looking for a wireless access point, a couple of alternatives that don't require a PC are Asus WL-33-NUL or (TP-Link MR3020)[http://www.anyware.com.au/brands/tp-link/tl-mr3020.html).

      • Thanks Moss ;)

Hmmm, is there really a point to this other than having a 8gb memory stick? You can install various free software to turn your laptop into a wifi access point, no need for extra hardware.

    • Do you mind sharing the link of the free software? Thanks!

      • I use Connectify (which is not free), but there are certainly free alternatives out there.

    • You don't even need software. Internet Connection Sharing on Windows. On Linux, the core technology is IpTables for which configuration options exist.

  • Excuse my ignorance but why do you need to create a network? If your laptop can access WiFi then your mobile, tablet etc can also access the same WiFi. I can't see a use for this thing. I take my laptop to work everyday. Both my phone and laptop can access network at my workplace.

      • Even more confused. I understand you can get WiFi access using a USB WiFi dongle.

    • Many workplaces don't have wifi…

    • It's for people on cable modems without a router.. just a direct internet into modem into pc. If you only have one other device to share the internet with, it's cheaper than a router I guess.

Thumbs up for the deal and thumbs down for GearBest. Still haven't received the waterproof BT speakers bought a year ago.

    • one up here

  • So does this sort of act as a second router?

I'm thinking this might be useful to be able to access US netflix and the like when using my Playstation and the netflix app on there instead of needing to hook my PC up to the TV.

So main router would delivery net to my PC, which has VPN active, then this guy would transfer VPN'd internet to the Playstation which would think it's in the US and give me the wider range of netflix shows that are available to the US.

Does anyone know if this would work?
