    nice find! good work op

    USB-C (Power Delivery) 15W

Is this monitor for tablets? 15W is very low for laptops

      • +7

Everyone does, if it has USB C as an input. Gets rid of the need for a dock. Some monitors have KVM switches too.

15W will keep an M1 Macbook air powered fyi.

      • +2

I do. work laptop powered via USB-C and also connects to the monitor as a secondary screen.

      • +2

Some of dell monitors offer type-c with higher wattage so that you can connect laptop and monitor with one cable
Quite useful when you configure home office

      • +6

I'm literally writing this from a laptop connected to a monitor over USB-C.

      • +12

        Ozbargain has spoken:

Who powers a laptop via a monitor???

        Apparently everyone but you. 😝

        • +1

Yeah not really, I still run mine off a hub between laptop and mini PC.

          • +1

@BatmanAU: Yeah, but things are changing. We're running Dell gear at a K–12 boarding school and we mostly have the usual dock + dual monitor setups… However, recently I purchased integrated dock versions on the monitors and am loving it…

            Old Setup:
            - WD19 dock (~$200 education cost)
            - 2x 24" monitors (~$180 each)
            - 2x DisplayPort cables
            - 2x USB-A to USB-B per monitor to enable the monitors' USB ports
            - 3 power cords (2 monitors + dock PSU)
            - USB-C to laptop + Ethernet
= 8 cables before mouse/keyboard, 4 of them need to be plugged into the wall/powerboard.

            Ports: 6x USB-A, 2x USB-C
            Cost: $560

            New Setup:
            - 1x monitor with integrated dock (~$235)
            - 1x standard monitor (~$180)
            - Single IEC power to dock-monitor
            - USB-C from dock-monitor → 2nd monitor (105W power + data)
            - USB-C from 2nd monitor → laptop (90W power + data)
            - Ethernet into dock-monitor
= 4 cables total and only 2 of them to the wall

            Ports: 10x USB-A, 2x USB-C
            Cost: $415

Cheaper, neater, fewer cables, looks better, more available USB ports, identical display bandwidth… What’s not to like?

            • @Talix: Yeah I should look at upgrading, but I guess mine still works for zero costs, one day ;)

              • @BatmanAU: Hah, yeah, I'd love an excuse to replace our ~100-or-so setups but… Meh, what isn't broke, hey? 🤭

      • +2

It is extremely common for office usage. A lot of people have a work laptop, plug in with one cable, no need for a hub or anything.

        • We have a bunch of quiet rooms in our office and they all have a 32"Samsung 4K monitor which has USB-C which connects to laptops and powers the laptops. The monitor is also powering a webcam (Logitech 920e), Poly Sync 10 speaker/mic and a wireless keyboard mouse. All the peripherals are connected to the monitor and the laptop just connects to the monitor via the single USB-C cable. Works well.

The key features listed on the Retravision site includes a bunch of mistakes. Check out the LG product page for the right information.

At this price point (sub $300) they are all either 60 or 75Mhz … :)

    • Retravision specs are wrong.

      • oh. I see, it's different from JB.

  • +1

Same price at JB to use gift cards.

    • and 1% cashback with shopback

      • Cashback usually doesn't work with gift cards.

    Better than Dell?

    • If the dell is a 32" QHD IPS @ 60-75hz YES… the 100Hz LG is better :)

  • +2

Any jbhifi item around $60 to use the 30off300 vourcher?

    • can you apply the voucher with $60 worth of gift cards added?

      • +1

        No gift card is excluded

        • That sux… The cheaper stuff at JB are always hard to justify as they are usually priced better elsewhere.
I stick with their movies and shows when on sale. (No sale on now)
They have CPU coolers for around $60 white and black. no idea if any good though or fairly priced.
Mouse, keyboard, headphones, mouse pads. you maybe find one on special that you need. Always check the going price for it on google or amazon first though.

Can anyone assist with some advice? I'm looking for a 27" as I already have a 32" which I find a bit too big as my desk is only 60cm deep.

Would you recommend the 27" equivalent of this model (QHD IPS 75 Hz) for $198 or the Lenovo 27" (QHD IPS 100Hz) for $187 from Officeworks? My budget is around this price point, up to $250 max. 99.9% used for web browsing/office work - spreadsheets, emails etc.

Link for the Lenovo - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-27-…

    • LG probably may have a better colour reproduction.

      Get this
      MSI MAG 275QF 27" WQHD Rapid IPS 180Hz 0.5ms Adaptive-Sync Gaming Monitor
Apply coupon KYOTO to save further $8 off,
      https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-mag-275qf-27-wqhd-rapid-ips…

I had a look and nothing comes close to it for price to specs at the moment in the 27" size.. also it has a 10 bit Panel.

      • @vid_ghost - you seem pretty across this stuff, do you know if you can get an arm attachment for the MSI? Thank you

      • Thank you! I was wary of going with an MSI as I read a few previous comments from users that it didn't rate in comparison to these bigger brands but glad to see it is recommended.

Advice - Get a desk which is deeper and buy a 42"?

    • +1

FYI - Most value priced monitors don't have USB C port

just fyi, LG delivery is via DHL.
They don't drop it at the door but someone has to be home. But the delivery window is only Mon to Fri, 8am to 5pm at random hours.
Otherwise you have to go to Horsley Park (in NSW) to pick it up.

    • +7

Damn that's a massive drive from Adelaide :(

      • +1

If you're going, grab mine too… I'll sling you a tenner for fuel… should get up up the freeway and on your way…

    • How fast is the delivery usually after ordering?

      • One day to inner Melbourne apparently, just got mine one today.

  • +2

Rookie question, but here goes - looking for a decent budget monitor for detailed design work - does this fit the bill or is it best left for gamers?

    • +8

From the info here it should be fine as its using a true 8bit panel not a 6bit + FRC (8 bit panel)
      https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/e60e3fcf

If you need 100% color accuracy you may want to look at a 10bit panel or 8bit + FRC (10 bit panel)
      This LG 8bit is 99%

We use crap monitors just fine in our office for Austodesk software and this LG is way better then those.

      • +3

Great detailed advice - thank you for your time

  • I can't decide whether to WQHD 34" or 4k 27/32"

Can anyone offer some pointers that might help me choose?

Personal experiences with the same situation ?

    • 4k 32" is a much larger monitor.

34" wide QHD is small.. when i purchased one form office works and took it out of the box it was smaller then the 27" i was using so i returned it right away.

      • Vertical height yes . QHD maybe, UWQHD not so much

      • A 34" ultrawide is essentially a wide 1440p 27", they should be almost identical in height, similar in how a 49" super ultrawide is just two 27's side by side.

  • +1

Hi Op, can this mount onto monitor arm? If not what do you recommend best and affordable monitors to mount on arms?

    • +1

Has VESA 100 mounting holes on the back, so it can be mounted on an arm that has that spec.

    • +2

      Looks to support VESA mount
      VESA interface 100 x 100 mm
      Removable stand yes.

VESA is the industry standard for using other stands or wall mounting

  • +1

32 inch QHD is same as 24 inch 1080

    • +1

32" QHD looks fine unless your eyes are closer then 20cm from the screen
      27" QHD is perfect
      32" HD is horrible
      27" HD is usable

anything in 4k and your using % scaling to increase the text size.

No one buys 24" anymore :)

      • +2

I have run Dual 32" 4k at 100% scaling at home for many years without an issue. I use Dual 1440p 32" at work and wish everything weren't so big, but it's still a decent enough ppi.

        • your favorite pastime is squinting or you must have great vision.

          • @vid_ghost: I at least don't feel like i'm squinting. I had a 15" 1080p laptop at the time I got used to it so having essentially identical ppi on both probably helped. I feel like i'm giving up precious multitasking real-estate and having to scroll way too much if I go any higher on scaling. You would likely find my 14.5" 3072x1920 laptop at 150% scaling to be squinting too.

          • @vid_ghost: Yes agree he must be young. No way 50 yo can do that.

    • You're correct but as vid_ghost stated no one buys 24" anymore.

Today the sweet spot is 27" QHD or 32" 4K

Having said that I just ordered a 27" 4K monitor today lol Still much less PPI than the Macbook it is connected too

  • Got excited when the Retravision ad stated '65W USB-C power delivery' but this looks wrong.

    vid_ghost was correct to state it's 15W USB-C

15W USB-C is low. 30W would be better and 65W ideal.

  • +1

    USB-C (Power Delivery) 15W

Thanks LG, I plan to use a 32 inch monitor with my phone

Anyone know what speed the port runs at? If it’s 10Gbps could potentially run a 10Gbe off that (they require higher power)

    • It'll likely be DP 1.4 bandwidth rated, so 32.4Gbps.

However, what do you mean "run a 10Gbe off that (they require higher power)"?

      • I assume USB-C up means it connects to your laptop, then the USB-PD port is for peripherals.

10Gbe adapters usually don’t work well on standard 500mAh 5v USB, they require thunderbolt 4 usually for higher spec PD. Wondering if this monitor could allow it to work on a lower spec USB port as PC > monitor (typec up) > adaptor (Typec PD)

Not sure if that’s how this monitor works though

        • This monitor only has the one USB C port, you can't connect anything other than a laptop/PC to it.

  • does anyone know how many colors this monitors can produce?

  • OR don't forget to use 5% off on JB hifi gift cards if you have access to gift card providers such as Smart spending. + 1% cashback with Shopback

Hi op, do you see any 34 inch around $200?

    • no sorry.. also 34" WQHD monitors are small.. my 27" was larger

  • +1

    Note
    No VRR support

    • Yes.. it will work fine for gaming but its not a gaming monitor

  • Anyone recommend this for gaming? Using it in my ps5 if i got it.

    • +1

It doesn't have VRR but it is 100Hz so it will do 100 FPS :) it will work fine in games but it wont be as good as a more expensive $100 extra 32" IPS gaming monitor

in saying that i would take this LG 32" IPS 100Hz screen for $244 over a $300+ 32" VA 165Hz gaming monitor that does have VRR.. To me IPS always looks smoother then VA i think its got something to do with the white on dark backgrounds ghosting blue that VA panels are prone too.

      • +2

Thanks for the reply, looks like im upgrading!

        • +1

PS5 can work with a 100Hz monitor, but it won't use the full 100Hz refresh rate. The PS5 supports 60Hz and 120Hz, not anything in between.
I just found this out. If its important for you or not.

          • @vid_ghost: Thats very good to know, cheers for the tip!

Is this also the case if using a HDMI 2.1 cable?

So many variables these days eh? Takes a lot of research to get the right match! :)

  • +1

It seems I got a bit extra discount with code 022461798, not sure if it also works well with other buyer.

    • +1

Apparently it's $12 RAC Members Discount.

  • +1

I just picked mine up from JB and using it to type this.

I'm pretty used to the 27" 4K Samsung I've been using. Although this is a very good monitor for the price, especially 32" …mmm.. I'm just to used to the 4K now :)

4K 32" on the M4 Mac Mini would be amazing..

Might have to find a different use for this one.

Many thanks for the post OP! :)

  • +1

Anyone have feedback about the value of a curved screen vs flat on a monitor of this size?

    • VA = curved.. they have ghosting in fast motion vs IPS
