Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II USM $1,520 Delivered @ No Worries

551

Most stores selling around $2,500. So I'm not sure if this is a price mistake, but it is super cheap.

  • Those that ordered, keep us updated :D

    • I ordered one in the hope that they might come through, I realise the chances are slim but will be pretty chuffed if it works out. Will keep you updated.

    Anyone have an update?

    • +1

Not yet, they could be in the morning meeting still debating what to do :D
From my experience with similar cases (if this is indeed a price error):
Harris Tech: Got an email informing a price error and offer a discount to the regular price.
Yatango: Left the order unfulfilled to the point the buyer seeking Paypal resolution and Yatango issued a credit to my paypal account (basically a refund).
Dwi Camera: Got an email informing a price error and offering a discount to the regular price.
Nevertheles this "error" has been effective in driving traffic to the seller website, so one might argue this was intentional. Some might want to take this up further by contacting Consumer Affair:
      http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/complaints-problems/make-a-…

  • I hope we hear something soon, either way.
Preferably the 'I'm booking a holiday with the $1000+ that I've just saved' way.

    Nope, received an email saying…
We would like to apologise but the item you have purchases there was a price error.
We will be refunding your order back to your preferred payment method and would like to give you a $10 off next purchase. Promo code:

    FML man.

    • No email yet….

    • +2

yep, received the same email. Well, not all lost, might get a $10 phone accessories with free postage.

    • +3

read that as "Promo code: FML man"

      • yeah, SMH :D

  • I got the same email and $10 credit for next purchase.

  • Of course it's a price error. The only times a price error for a major item may be honored is if it doesn't get posted on ozbargain and maybe then one or two will get it.

6 years ago I bought a new Canon 24mm TSE II online locally for $1900. Now this doesn't sound particularly cheap, but everywhere else selling it for around $2500 when it was first out. I was pretty sure it was going to be a price error - they probably mistook it for the Mk 1 which was about that price. They sent me an email saying that the "Canon 24mm TSE" had been dispatched and I had to reply to them to make sure it was the Mk II that they sent me as that was the only reason why I bought it. They confirmed that it was indeed the Mk II and lo and behold it arrived!

      Gotta spread the love, bro

      • +1

Good of you for posting it, but there was Buckley's chance of it being honored when everyone jumped onboard.

      • Better to do that after you receive postage confirmation.

  • +3

    Glad I didn't bother

  • So, what's the guess on how long the refund will take?

  • …as Gerry would say… Professionals at it again.

  • yep got the same email. I reckon the $10 credit code isn't unique

    • if not unique, you might wana help others?

      • +1

        Definitely not unique - NW10PROMO

  • Anyone using the code yet?

    • Just tried to use the code they sent me, doesn't work.

    • just tried it, doesn't work here either.

  • +1

Now they are telling me :

Unfortunately, we ran out of stock of Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II USM.

    Thanks for your question(s).

Thats different to price error - I've told them reinstate my order and I will wait til they get more stock from Canon Australia

    • Wondering why the change of excuse….
Could it be someone remind them of their own t&c:
"Prices are subject to change at any time without notice. However, the price displayed at the time that you place your Order will continue to apply to you even if the price is changed before the Order is accepted."

Standard bait and switch tactic. Will never purchase from these guys again.

    • hardly! seems like genuine price error which they aren't gonna honour - annoying, but understandable. i bet 1520 is less than their cost price

      • Yeah it is. Look at their ratings online and they're loaded with similar scams. Plus given their ts and Cs state unequivocally that they'll honor errors of price and it's clear what this is.

When my order was placed the website said stock. Hen k get an email saying there was a price error. And then the story changed to no stock when I raised their own terms. Not a scam? You be the judge.

        • +1

If it's a scam, they'd be running away with your money.

Did they run away with your money?

  • best price i was quoted on this lens locally was in a JB, $2200 from memory (if anyone still really wants one).

  • Updates:
    1. The payment has been refunded.
    2. The promo code seems working.

    • Same here, refund just came through.

    • Trying to buy something for $10 inc shipping and applying the $10 promo code doesn't work at all.

      • Give them a buzz:
