Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II USM $1,520 Delivered @ No Worries

551

Most stores selling around $2,500. So I'm not sure if this is a price mistake, but it is super cheap.

$1519 from eglobal. Seems like standard grey price.

  • Looks like a pricing error to me..

  • Total error - the 2.8 without IS is roughly 1500. 2500 for the IS model. This will unlikely be honored imo, but good luck to purchsers if it is! amazing lens!

  • Hope my order goes through! :)

    • Let us know the outcome. :)

  • I actually bought one too ;) Will sell my non IS 2.8 for close to that if it's delivered! Bargain of the century OP!

  • -3

is that local stock? if not i don't know if you have to pay for the customs tax

  • +1

Has anyone shopped with them before?

Edit: placed order on paypal, through amex. Hope one of the two can protect me if it goes bad haha

  • grey import?

    edit: seems like they are

  • -4

Never heard of them before. For those who has ordered I wish you good luck getting your $1.5k back.

  • Too good to be true?

This is from No Worries Pty Ltd Terms & Conditions of sale:

    "3. Pricing and Payment

    2. Prices are subject to change at any time without notice. However, the price displayed at the time that you place your Order will continue to apply to you even if the price is changed before the Order is accepted."

    • Went and took a screenshot of that thanks.

    • +1

Unfortunately that won't bind a genuine pricing error under consumer law. Also, the rest of their conditions says something more important

"3. No Worries Online attempts to ensure that all information provided on the Website is accurate. However, due to the fast-changing nature of the industry, it is possible that some errors in specifications, descriptions, images, pricing, stock levels or delivery may occur. • I too have given it a shot - fingers crossed - will sell me version 1 of same lense if it comes off

  • Ordered one using paypal pay after delivery, the description only says about L lens, hope they will ship the IS ii version

  • Will sell the version one IS if its true. Even the used IS II costs 2k+ on gumtree

  • bought one, hope I get it :) "fingers crossed"

edit; saved screenshots in case anything happen

  • Bought under business name so you can write off the item this year itself.

  • From the invoice description
Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II USM
    Item Number CANEF70200F28LIS

    • +9

dont do it! you will point it out to them there is a price error

      • +2

The question we should ask is, what would tightarse do?

        • its simple, if you want the lens that advertise for this price then buy it, otherwise dont.
in case if you dont get what you want you are protected with paypal as well as CC company plus they have 14 days return policy.

  • Took a punt. Will sell my 70-200 2.8 is. Paid with PayPal so I'm covered. Let's wait and see what happens.

  • I am 99% sure it's a description error. I believe it is actually the version 1 that they are selling. The item number says IS only not ISII. Having said that, I still ordered one.

    • so if it is IS only not II and you are gonna get it are you gonna send it back ?

      • I am gonna send it back. I already have a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 OS. The version 1 is about the same performance as my Sigma. I only paid $600 for my Sigma.

        • where?

        • From Gumtree. It's a 6-month old lens but still in as new condition with all accessories and receipt with Sigma Australia warranty. I was lucky.

    • Actualy says "IS II" with a space.

Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II USM

      • +1

        I was referring to this:Item Number CANEF70200F28LIS

        • +3

If you copy and paste that model number into Google, it comes up on the Canon Australia website as the IS II model :)))))))

    • 1st version still in market? I mean after ver ii is out a while

  • I placed an order as well. I am going to sell by 70-200 f4 IS, if this deal goes through.

  • From google cache, this was $2454 as in 5th of Jun
    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?biw=768&bih=909…

So this for sure is the II version

  • I bought one too!!!

  • Bought one too. Expecting a cancellation but who knows. Might get lucky

  • -1

Two and half year ago the price is $1900.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89319

I would say the price now is very cheap but not impossible, the item has been paid, a receipt has been issued, so the contract is binding and the seller has to honour the price according to Competition and Consumer Act 2010. Or at least give some form of compensation.

    • the item has been paid, a receipt has been issued, so the contract is binding and the seller has to honour the price according to Competition and Consumer Act 2010. Or at least give some form of compensation.

In the past, this logic hasn't washed with Harvey Norman.

    • +2

Well, that was when our dollar was at parity. I miss those days.

    • What section of the Act says that they have to honour a genuine pricing error? I'm pretty sure that's not the case, e.g.

      http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/03/do-retailers-have-to-ho…
      http://www.ozcart.com.au/correcting-a-pricing-mistake-in-you…

If you have something to support that assertion, then please share - I'm sure the OzB community would welcome a direct link as that would be a huge asset while bargain hunting.

  • Cheaper than used.

  • +2

Will we need to pay 10% custom on top?

    • +1

So most likely the price will be about $1650 including oz custom?

      • There website says all items shipped from australia. No international shipping. So even if its coming from overseas i think they will take care about the duty. You made the payment to an australian business, they collect gst and they pay gst.

        • Incorrect - invoice shows GST as $0

  • I am slowely migrating from Pentax to Canon.
I've got a 50-135mm 2.8 Pentax lens on APS-C, it is a stellar performer but I found I use my 16-50mm much more often.
So, this one is an excellent lens for a very good price, but the question is : how am I gonna use it on the FF ? or how often ?

    • +2

Ozbargainers buy stuffs not out of needs but because it is a bargain.

    • Most people won't use the focal range 70-200 as a daily.

I have the is II and it barely leaves the house due to the sheer weight of the thing, unless i'm shooting an event etc. My wide zoom and primes comes along for the ride 90% most of the time.

  • What's the deal with asking for the date of birth?! This is a first!

Could they use this anyway? like identity theft?!

    • No idea why they ask for it. Just fill in anything?

For identity theft, there are way more efficient ways to collect information than by setting up an online store and waiting for people to buy things from you. :)

      • Possibly for them to spam you with offers of suitable products for your age.

        • Agreed.. The higher the age, the more expensive the spam (lens offers)

  • Not able buy. Anyone facing same issue ?

EDIT: Modified the address and it worked. Thanks OP.

  • +2

I've wanted this lens for 3 years.
Pretty sure I will perish from pleasure if this actually gets honoured.
OP, I want to kiss you.

    • +2

Wow finally, I always knew soon or later that moment will come;)

      • +2

You found the key to my bargainer's heart lols

  • Leaving the country in 8 business days so I'm not sure if it'll arrive in time. Anyone have any idea from experience how long it usually takes? It says 7-10 business days…might have to give this one a miss.

  • Just ordered one!

  • Joining the club on "rolling the dice".
Was shooting with an F4 IS version of this and it was great.
The F2.8 will be an amazing addition to the kit.
    Fingers crossed!

Some of the reviews for the website are pretty scary :( (particularly the one where they demanded the customer produce their passport copy / license copy). i was thinking of buying one and selling it for about 2000 later but perhaps not worth the risk.

    • buyer beware is legit: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2085774

but then again, if anyone remembers how to purchase online in the early days of the internet, copies of licence/credit card were required. Maybe they process credit cards with a terminal. ID would be required for their protection then.

  • Both my wife and I ordered one. First one is 'Processing', second one is 'Payment Review'. Used PP + Amex, same card for both orders though. Hopefully they both get through as I don't think we'll want to share…actually hopefully at least one goes through!!

    • You are being greedy now :)

  • +1

    I reckon it's a typo… 1xxx instead of 2xxx

Description describes the IS II model (23 elements, 1490g, etc)

  • -5

I found cheaper price on Camera Paradise

    http://cameraparadise.com/Canon-EF-70-200mm-f/2.8L-USM-Lens-…

Is it legit ? I think I am comparing same lens, correct me if am I wrong.

  • -1

It's obviously a typo. Don't bother getting your money out of your account for a week or two before they finally refund you.

    • I looked at other items, and I have to agree with you that its' a typo. Other lenses are not that cheap, even more pricey to my liking. I personally think they won't honor it.

    • +1

The great thing about credit cards is that it's not your money that gets taken for a week or two. :)
      (I think it's a typo too)

    • +2

I use paypals pay after delivery option, so no payments made until the item delivered and verified.

    • Don't be such pessimist. Refunded less than 48 hours and offered $10 discount.

      • -2

But this isn't a bargain and does not belong here. Had a quick look around their site. Most things are cheaper elsewhere. Enjoy spending more to save your $10.

  • +2

    vanished now..

  • +1

Page taken out. Thinking too darn long to jump on it.

    • +10

Don't worry, I can help you with that. Just transfer $1,500 to me and I'll refund it to you in a week.

  • 404

  • hoping it's not a mistake and they get more next week, missed out today :(

  • Pretty sure it's a mistake, will be "out of stock" instead off "404" if they will restock.

    • I think the website is down, I can even log in!

  • Definitely a pricing error

  • The reviews on their Facebook page are kinda scary :\

  • Goodluck peeps!

  • anyone suggest a heavy duty pouch for this lens?

    • usually this lens comes with a big thick pouch… i had one…

    • like gandhi said it does come with one and you probably should hold off on it anyway, this deal doesn't look too positive at the moment haha

  • +1

I never knew OzBargain had so many people wanting to upgrade from the f4 to the f2.8 - just needed a bargain to bring them out of the woodwork!

Good luck hope the deal goes through no worries :)

  • +1

The reviews here http://www.productreview.com.au/p/no-worries.html are not the most favorable. Lot of reviews on the first page are quite bad.

    • seems a bit dodge

    • How many of us here have posted positive reviews of stores that we are happy with?
