  • Looks good to me but only for the first 415 customers.. ouch!

    • +4

The next 415 might get 16% off instead.

      • You are legend! haha

        • Or a member of DS staff

      • Nostradamus, you see the future!

      • Can't help it but laughed out loud, precisely 16%. I bet the dicks marketing people are also laughing as they read these. don't know why, but they are likely to have done this on purpose after reading this post?

        https://www.dicksmith.com.au/

One thing I have to give it to them, whilst having such confusing "sales", they still manage to not have "pricing errors" on a regular occurance. ie. running a 15% off and forgetting to remove the 20% off that was initially offered.

    • +1

It's okay they'll have another 'one off' sale tomorrow. With 'one day only' deals.

      • +1

That's because for the 1st 415 orders they'll probably automatically have insufficient stock for the order and everyone else has been duped into buying at a non-competitive price thinking they were making a saving.

        What an utterly dick move.

PS. they are flaunting the Australian Consumer Law by offering a deal on their site that has T's & C's noted, but when you want to gain details, they come up blank.
They are also playing with fire (maybe they will get 3rd degree burns - metaphorically speaking of course) by 'playing' with the price/discount formula to mislead consumers into paying more for their stuff.

        Go Dickie wads

      • +1

"one day only" deal for 365 days, that's the same as "one year only" deal then! Cheeky DSE!!!

    • Meaning 17:30-20:00 AEST

    • -3

      It's from 5:30pm to 8pm … which is 150 minutes. OP's title is incorrect.

      • The online T&C said 5:30pm - 9:30pm AEST before. Corrected now.

  • +2

    Excludes Apple
    bing bong

    • +1

I think you mean Bah Bow

      • +1

That's a normal Bing Bong. An Apple Bing Bong only comes in black or white and costs 3x as much. It tells you the correct way to play with it and if you don't, or if you complain, it shuts down permanently. When you complain on the message boards you'll be called a liar, told Apple Bing Bong "just works" and that it's your fault anyway.

  • +6

Prices gone back to normal and no click and collect

    • +5

      Can confirm. Prices been boosted.

      • Dodgy Dick does it again, but they do draw in many suckers with these deals, me included.

        • +3

So they inflate their prices before you can throw on the discount? That's a load of BS.

        • @quadcaster: Well they seem to enjoy playing with the RRP and current price. So they will usually have a standard price that is 30% off rrp, which compares to other stores. Then for a few days its suddenly 15% off rrp then they bring in a deal like this to bring it back to the same price it was earlier in the week….

        • @quadcaster: that's exactly what they do.

        • @shizmo: So dodgy. Thanks for the heads up!

  • +19

You won't find much smith there, just dicks.

  • +3

these DS deals were fun at the start, but the novelty has seriously worn off here in OzBargain…..

  • Are they stopping C&C forever? Don't think I've ever seen it unavailable for everything.

    • I don't think so… They are good in Click & Cancel

  • +5

Wow this would have to be the sneakiest move yet completely removing Click & collect! They will get no love doing this

    • +2

Yeah, no Dick lovn round here.

    • They're just trying to be able to bill the sales in this FY. If it's click and collect nothing can be allocated sales wise until tomorrow and be in next FY figures.

    • I went to buy something earlier today that was click and collect the other day when I was browsing, and noticed that click and collect was no longer an option. So I bought it elsewhere… they lost a sale because of that.

  • All prices gone up plus $7.95 for shipping = Dick move.

This offsets the 15% off, adding more $ on top.

    NO BARGAIN

  • Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Means you cannot buy with tag of 'hot offers'. No bargain

    • Explains why it failed for me.

  • Sigh…. Bought something 2 days ago with the weekend deal($85 off) + coles dse 10% extra giftcards… 😭

  • +1

    Nothing worthed buying

  • +3

bump price before discount given, disgraceful, dick

  • They claim C&C will be back tomorrow and that it's just on hold for 2 days. (Via their FB) "CC will be available as of tomorrow. It was just on hold for 2 days. Thanks Amanda #DSHelp"

    • Thanks for the info. Still a Dick move.

      • +1

I agree. As pathetic as it may sound to some, it put me off purchasing a Vivoactive from them.

        • Not pathetic at all <thumbs up>

  • Does it destroy my reputation by receiving so many negs for this deal? lol

    • Run the 'Smith, run the risk.

    • I was just having a read of the rules… If it gets too neg'd, you'll have to wait longer for your next post to be allowed.

      • +2

Well, I would love to make a self-sacrifice, and deliver a clear message to Dick Smith on how bad their current deals are. I think they need to understand that they are dealing with real customers as human beings, not a bunch of fools who can't even tell the intentions behind their stupid moves.

    • It still has some merit imo. Check out the 4tb drives. If you use the codes, and IF you can get the coles gift card for 10% off, it brings it down to $152. Better than the ebay price yesterday.

  • +2

    Excludes everything good.

    • -1

*may apply to some bad stuff too. Batteries not included. All Eneloops from China.

  • +1

Coupon code "15FOR150" is not valid.

    • +1

yeah, I've tried about 5 different products, one at a time and the code ain't working! Not even for full priced items.

    • This maybe hard to believe considering how bad the deal is but maybe they've had 415 people claim the code already.
Now you'll have to pay the regular BS .. I mean DS prices.

  • +1

Tried to buy a couple of hard drives (Seagate backup plus)
    I get:
Coupon code "15FOR150" is not valid.

If you ask me, dealing with DSE is not valid. Tired of wasting my time.

  • Not a decent sale at all with Dicks dodgy prices going up.

  • Please can we have some sort of ban on dick smith's dodgy deals unless they are doing some worthwhile? Its become beyond a joke!

    From the posting guidelines:

Multiple Bargains for the Same Site/Store
Think twice if you are posting more than one deal for the same site/store. Are they all really good deals?

I'd say that they aren't all really good deals. In fact most of them aren't.

  • My hate for Dick just got harder

  • This mob are dodgy

  • what's the point in dick Smith featuring on ozbargain, when they just remove stock or up prices before their next limited 'offer'? surely better to just reward good business practise than support these silly non existent bait and switch operations!

  • Code seems to be working now, was looking at the LED55C5000 Changhong 55" and seemed to be the best price offered yet by DS of $729.10

Quick check online shows appliance warehouse of $699 + $10 delivery.

Cant really spot a bargain in the TV dept!

  • jack up the price and put on a sale, the usual dickie

  • +1

    This deal stinks like dick

  • What dick heads

  • +2

We should ban Dick from Ozbargain . What a bunch of dishonest, greedy & tricky people. They inflate their price upto 25% & then offering 15% . What a dick sale.

  • +2

They have 16% off today at 12pm. lol

  • The only things I want to buy are always excluded…
