This deal is $1 including delivery. The other posting was $5 delivered.

    • +2

Yeah don't worry about it he/she didn't know what was talking about.

    • Correct. This isn't a duplicate post.

  • Thanks OP. This is great. Just ordered my S6 in the last few days so the nano sim is great. Ordered a couple. Harder to find those nano sims out there than I thought, so to get it to my door for $1 with $5 credit is wonderful. I appreciate your post.

  • +1

Is this SIM require any activation? If so is there an expiry date for activation?

    • +1

For what I believe all SIM cards require an activation.

      • +3

Holly… for one the Amaysim data sims are activated before they are sent out.
This one from aldi requires activation by the user and has 365 days before expiry from then.

        • +6

That's bad of amaysim. Sending out pre-activated SIM card seems like a security flaw to me. It could end up at the wrong address and ends up in some one else's hands already activated and who knows what they'll do with it and it would be all under your name.

        • @hollykryten:
Correct, it is a bad move. They are looking to make it user activated.
Most people fall into a trap with the amaysim data sim if they don't start using it immediately … if they leave it for a month they get billed again.. :-(

    • +1

Yes and no chonge. Plus the activation has an interesting security check when you sign up.

  • Is there a limit per person?

  • that's a damn fine low use plan.

  • -1

it appears that the $5 credit is for voice only and there is no included credit for data

    • +1

      Where does it say that?

      • -2

in the critical information link provided by OP above. "Included Data Value: Nil. Data is charged at 5c per MB."

        • -1

Doesnt that just mean the charge for data used will be taken out of the $5 credit.

        • -1

@ATangk: no, as the information statement above the data clearly states that you get $5 credit for voice. pls refer critical information provided by OP above. "Included Call Value: $5.00 of credit on a SIM starter pack"

        • @Logical:

You only need to read "$5.00 of credit on a SIM starter pack"
Please dont confuse others, because if you go by what you say, you can never use data on the 365 PAYG plans.
They give you credit, which you can use for other things.

        • -3

@ATangk: OMG, read the terms and conditions = the fine print, and don't just rely on a simple statement!

        • -3

@ATangk: By the way, Aldi wants you to Buy additional credit to use for data! the included $5 is for voice. this is clearly stated in the fine print.

        • +1

          @Logical:
Then go out and use every single mobile number left on the 04- registry to get your value on a $1 sim, wont you?

Before you blab about the terms and conditions, i looked through them all and cannot find a single mention why the $5 credit can NOT be used for data. There are no restrictions on this usage.

        • +5

You can use the $5 included as data @5c per mb.
They mean that there is no separate data allowance included.

        • +4

          @xywolap:
Thank you that is what ive been saying all this time. I guess its hard to break through someone whos name should not be logical but stubborn instead.

        • +7

I can confirm that you can indeed use the $5.00 credit (or any recharge amount) for data if you wish. Source: I have one.

  • just put all details in including credit card, submitted…."Internal service error"

    • Billing payment server is probably getting hammered.

      • all good now

  • +1

The site was ozbargained, last step "Submit Order" cannot be processed :)

Edit: Please beware, it will charge the credit card even has internal error. I was charged 9$ that means 9 clicks already =)) May be call them to cancel some orders.

    • Why bother about "Submit Order". Walk into Aldi to get yourself some. Take as many as you want. No ID required.

      • +1

Correct… saw a ton of them at the checkout tonight.. $1. Oddly it had no special tag, looks like it could be a fixed price??

    • No problems here with credit card payment. Processed without issue.

Thanks OP for the heads up on this deal.

      • Try another CC without issue. Fingers cross the other 9 orders with on confirmation will not processed.

    • Happened to me too (twice charged). I tried calling the support number 1300 98 90 00 (they are based in the UK) but they were completely hopeless and could not even look up my order. They even asked me to unsecurely email a copy of my credit card statement to [email protected] so they could verify the double charging.

Please let me know which locally based Aldi contact you had luck with? I am tempted to ring my bank to cancel this transaction.

      • Couldn't reach them via phone, email [email protected] was invalid. No clue to cancel the order :(, even Mr Google has no idea. The money on CC has gone :((

  • I've moved to Aldi Mobile from Telstra prepaid. No regrets- cheaper, coverage is the same, everything works great.

    • +2

It's a good deal but be aware the coverage isn't 'the same'. It's Telstra's full vs wholesale network (and no 4G either), http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/maps/mcm/wholesale.html vs https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/our-coverage.

      • +1

You are correct. I should clarify that when I say 'the same' what I mean is 'the same for me personally in all the places I regularly find myself' And anecdotally, I have better coverage than all of my friends / co-workers who are on non Telstra networks.

As for not having 4G, this really doesn't worry me. When I need to use mobile data 3G is more than enough, and I have great wifi at home and at work.

Thanks for the extra info though- definitely worth mentioning.

      • I didn't realise there was such a big difference. When you look at telstra full in regional areas the coverage is great, but on the wholesale there are big blackspots between towns pretty much all over the place. Doesn't really make sense unless they somehow attenuate the wholesale customers. So looks like you end up with 10-20% of the coverage.

      • That GSM map is 2G isn't it?? I think we get better coverage than that. (I use Telstra wholesale understanding the coverage is better than optus or vodaphone??)

    • I'm still not sold on this replacing for $20 per month spend budget. Telechoice's KM Liberty $20 plan is 24mth contract but has served me well: https://www.telechoice.com.au/sim-plans/24-months/global-lib…

      • Ditto.

      • Local MMS and Overseas text messages are charged separately it seems.

    • were you ever offered Free Telstra Pre-Paid 1GB Bonus Data?

  • +1

Which is better for $10-$15 a month (calls and data) - Aldi or Amaysim?

    • I'd love to know the answer to this as well.

    • For $15 per month, go with Amaysim. You'll get 1Gb ($9.90) and ~42 minutes ($5.10) with $15.

PAYG Data is not recommended. Aldi cheapest data plan is $16.5 (1.5GB) already.

  • +3

How soon do you have to activate? I might get one for backup.

  • Login using your account number and password - assuming this comes with the pack?

And it's easy to port my old number over?

Thanks OP. Looks like just what I needed.

    • Yeah it's easy to port.

      Ordered a couple.

    • +2

I got the order submitted ok.
It states "You should also take a note of your account number and password. When you are ready to actviate your SIM, please log in to the website first using these details to help speed up the activation process."

But Account number and password is blank.

      • Yeah I'm assuming this will come into play when you get the pack and activate. Perhaps it's not blank for those with a pre-existing account?

      • It is blank GrTea. When the sim card arrives and you activate it online then an e-mail with the password and acct number arrives.

  • Dang, just bought an Aldi nano sim for $5 (replacement sim so no credit included I don't think) the other day. I didn't think there would ever be a deal on these

    • Blown the budget.

  • thank you. Ordered a couple.
although same issue as above, it doesnt show up account number and password after success.

    • +1

When the sim card arrives and you activate it online then an e-mail with the password and acct number arrives.

  • Thanks!
I am looking to buy a new phone soon and am not sure if I will stay with Android or go to iOS.
Bought 2 nano-sims just in case I swap sides

  • is it possible to credit $5 to another aldi number? If so then the L pack could only cost u $6 instead of $30

    • No credit transfer facility

  • How can I buy more than one in a same transaction? it seems only allow one at a time.

  • just buy them from the aldi store same price and able to buy multiple

  • I would like to switch from TPG to Aldi mobile. Aldi is so much cheaper. However I'm afraid TPG would charge me the port out fee and not giving back the $20 prepayment. I hate wasting time arguing with the telephone operator.

    • +2

Just port out and then send [email protected] an email…

Please refund me the $20 prepayment and the $11 port out fee. If these are not refunded I will raise the matter with the TIO.

Anyway the port out fee was always in your contract, so in good conscience you shouldn't try and get out of it.

    • Anybody had an experience with Vaya? What is the best steps to leave Vaya and move to Aldi without incurring any fees? Yes, I am out of contract.

      • I've used and subsequently ported out of vaya (no issues with them, just got a better deal). There shouldn't be any fees if you're out of contract. Just remember that your last month's usage will be pro-rata. So for example if you port out on day 6 of the billing cycle then you only get 20% of your normal call, txt and data usage. If you've used more than 20% then you will have to pay for the extra.

        • Did you inform Vaya that you wanted to port out or was that done through your new provider?

How do I go about collecting any money Vaya may owe to me?

        • @weebok15: I did not contact Vaya regarding porting out. Vaya did not owe me any money. I'm not sure why you think they would? After porting out Vaya sent me a final bill which was slightly less than normal because it was only for part of the billing cycle. It's really not a difficult process. Just give the new company your old account details and they will take care of everything.

        • @ocallaghans: Thanks for the information. Vaya has introduced a $20 security deposit, so if there was any refund I'd expect it from this. Not sure if you where a customer when this was introduced.

  • +2

I m with vaya had too many issues

    • hi heloanand,

Did you manage to leave Vaya without being charged any fees for porting?

  • The only flaw is that is not free for ALDIMobile user to the other ALDIMobile user when you just use PAYG plan.

    • +1

So you know some other telcos that give free in-house calls on PAYG? I'd like to know.

  • So can we stack these credits into our existing plans?

    ie. $20 = $100 credit?

So looking at their website you need a voucher code. Can anyone confirm if these sim packs actually have a voucher code in them?

  • I am moving overseas for probably 3 years. If I wanted to keep my Australian number for when I come back, could I buy 3 of these and and just activate them every year with my current number?

    • Sim will probably expire during that period.

      • Well it says 365-day credit expiry… but I guess you mean the ones that are waiting to be activated would expire. I could probably only get away with doing 1 and then wait for a similar deal when the time comes.

  • Is there a flagfall? I can't seem to find it on the Aldi site.

    • +2

nevermind. I found it. For anyone else interested; The flagfall is 0c

  • +1

I reckon these would be good if you have a lot of international visitors. Let them top up as the like, then put it away until next visitor??
My wife reckons people would rather get their own SIM??
Business opportunity selling these at international airports??

  • +1

    This offer ends 7/7.

    • 7 Jul (3 days left)

  • Just wondering is this the wholesale 900mhz wholesale network or the next-g 850mhz? TIA

  • Has anyone received their sim yet?

    • Has anyone received their sim yet?

      Not I.

  • Yes. I have received mine.

  • Aldi Dee Why are still $1.00 in store, I just bought one today.

  • Got a few more for my tablet, which rarely uses mobile data
    Thanks

  • I received mine yesterday. It is a bit silly how their activation page forces you to put in a phone number. For some people this might be why they bought this sim - because they don't have a number!
