This or a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green Label

    Decisions…

Well the JW isn't a device making wildly inaccurate measurements and then "informing" you about what you can do to fix the problem that may or may not exist … I'd go with that.

One causes you to worry pointlessly, one causes you to be more sociable. You know what? The JW is probably better for your health (possibly … maybe …) :p

I got one of these for Christmas and honestly, I don't know what the fuss is all about.

It really is just a glorified pedometer. It measures your steps. That's it. There's no GPS, no heart rate monitor, nothing. All of those features that the app proclaims - you have to turn it on.

Like for example - the 'sleep monitor' - all it is, is a mode where if you remember to turn in on, it checks if you moved during your sleep. Then you have to remember to turn it off again. Not something comprehensive at all.

Have to remember that these also boost peoples motivation to workout. I think that once you start using one, you realise how inactive you are and it just makes you want to take that extra step. No one wants to wear a pedometer all day. I have a different model, so not sure exactly what features are included, but there's advanced tracking of when you're most active during the day, calorie loss estimations. I agree that the sleeping tracker is a bit annoying to turn on every night, my model does it automatically.

Also, pedometers are limited. No phone functionality. With fitness band trackers you can get everything on your app and the PC with some devices.

Can't understand how anyone would pay $70 for this when the Miband is $18 on Gearbest or $32 from Mushtato (AU) and they do, I think, the exact same thing.

The Miband even has people making custom apk's to make them link up with the GPS on your phone to map your runs and customise notifications for any app on your phone.

    • I have both, miband is a much better value all around but it's not as well designed imo. I feel much more comfortable wearing my black fitbit in work meetings as it is quite discreet. The miband battery life is a winner though!

Yeah you might be right admittedly on the fashion stakes with the fitbit. It does look better but outside of that I'd say they're almost identical. If the Fitbit was about $40 I'd probably get one for the better aesthetics but with the miband so cheap.. it's hard to go against it.

  • Does it tell the time? I can't see anywhere that says it does.

Yes it does, On your mobile phone 😜
