  • Can I get one of these cards if I already have a Earth Gold card? lol

  • +1

"Offer only applies to Bronze and Bronze Q Club Qantas Frequent Flyer members as at 14 Dec 2009 who were personally sent the promotional brochure. "

Does this mean that it isn't open to everyone?

I used to have an Earth account but closed it a year ago. Would I qualify for this promo?

    • I am a new QANTAS frequent flyer member and was not sent anything in regards to the offer. I found a small link to "credit cards" on the bottom of the activity statement email that I get sent every month. I have applied for the card itself. It looks like a regular credit card application with the only difference being you have to use the promo code.

Yes, I get this in the statement too. I think it is generic to who has not have the credit card yet.
And bonus 250 points if you link the QFF card to the Woolworths everyday rewards card.

And there is another QFF member special of 5,000 point & no fee 1st year.

"An additional 5,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points could soon be yours with this special offer from American Express.*

Simply apply via the online application form and be approved for a Qantas American Express Classic Card and you'll earn 2,500 extra points after you make your first eligible purchase. Then, you'll earn an additional 2,500 points after your first Card spend on selected Qantas products and services in Australia.^

With this special offer, you will pay no annual Card fee in the first year, saving you $149. Plus, you'll never pay an annual Card fee on supplementary Cards for your family and friends, saving you $20 per year per Card."

        • where do get the link for the QFF member special of the 5,000 points?

  • Wrong post, ignore pls

  • Can you cancel the card as soon as you get the 10,000 points?

    • Thats the plan. Keep it for a few months then cancel it after 3-5 uses. ;)

    • not worth it since it'll sit on your credit history.

      • Can anyone confirm if closing the card after 1-2 years usage will count as bad credit history? I closed some of my credit cards in the last few years for various reason, and would like to know if it will have negative effects on getting another card (just got 1 rejected recently, wondering if that's the reason)?

        • I personally cancel a few cards in the past (3 cards actually, after 1 year using) but never got rejected when apply for new card. I think as long as you never have late payments that would be OK.
But I also heard a lot about canceling CC will get you bad credit history (especially in the US). Maybe our credit point system is different? Overthere with the Social security number they can see everything about your finance history…

      • Are you sure about this?

  • Opening the account, then closing it seems like allot of work to get 10,000 points which is probably worth about $80 in vouchers.

Might have been easier to buy 10 x $20 itunes cards on the weekend and flog them on ebay for the same result.

  • Westpac… no thanks!

  • So remember people 14500 points is approx 1/10 of a return airline ticket (ones that are around $1700 to Europe for example) so if you are saving up points for a plane ticket it's worth more like $170.

This is pure guesstamation but it will be plus or minus $200 depending on where you might want to go.

My ticket to Frankfurt is 145000 points.

I've looked at some of the other offers but nothing seems worth it the plane tickets are the best value.

    • But remember, when exchanging points, you still need to pay the tax by yourself (and out of 1700, it will probably be at least 200-300 with Qantas - in fact most international flight will probably cost that much tax, instead of real "free"). And it's hard to get seat with points. So, I would tend to rate it as $80-100 only for that amount of points).

Agree with u. normally I just use the points for Myer card, which is 13500 to $100. (Sometimes 12500 if in special).

  • Do you have to be an existing QFF member to take advantage of this offer? I'm asking because this Credit Card includes a free QFF account if you don't already have one..

    • When I took one a couple of years ago, either will work. If you don't have one, they'll sort of paying for ur membership fee (which is great). And if you have one, you just need to link the existing (and obviously, you don't get any additional benefit).
But this one seems to be for already QFF member only.

  • So, anyone know what the go with the 10k bonus points is? Do we get them sometime in March?
